Gather Heaven Sent Created By Norhafsah Hamid Issued As Textbook
was amazing I love the dynamic that Sarah has with each of her friends, the dynamic that Jonah has with Mat Bond, Jaws and Gideon.
I love that Mat Bond and Jaws made an effort to help both Jonah AND Linda towards the right path, that they don't just let Linda be on her wrong path.
I love Gideon and Richard's sense of humor, I love that this book isn't just about typical romance between a guy and a girl, it's also about how their faith towards Allah SWT that lead them to each other.
There are a lot of learnable lessons and Islamic values in this book, suitable for people that wants to understand them through stories but would still need to refer to more knowledgeable people.
This book only has onlyreviews despite it being one of the most famous literary works on Bookstagram, I guess not many of the Bookstagrammers are active on Goodreads,
Many people loved/enjoyed this book, I didn't, Here's why:
. The 'not like other girls' mentality, If you focus on the writings, you will notice about how it was mentioned multiple times that 'she is not like other girls'.
If you don't know what NLOG notlikeothergirls means, you can search 'r/notlikeothergirls' on YouTube, You'll find multiple videos, watch them and learn,
. The main character is a Mary Sue, I wouldn't say she is aperfect character, since I've found that she also have flaws, But what made me see her as a Mary Sue is that all the people around her think she is great, she is perfect, and she is praised multiple times throughout the book which annoyed me.
. The judgmental mentality/the 'holierthanthou' thinking, In no way, do I support sins, But when reading, the book came off as being somewhat judgmental towards those who are freehaired, or not as modest as the main character.
. The bad boy x good girl trope, There is nothing wrong with tropes and cliches, if it's executed well, The problem here is that the writing of this trope is so generic and similar to what you can find on Wattpad.
The only difference is that it has an Islamic twist,
. The dialogues. I can tell the writer enjoys classic books, because I feel like it was reflected in the dialogues, They made me thought, "who talks like that", All the dialogues seemed to be from old books, with the exception of the Kelantanese dialogues,
Unpopular opinion, but I might have enjoyed this book more if all the dialogues are in Kelantanese, Well, maybe not all. But I know how Kelantanese talk and their responses and I want to see the main character reacted in Kelantanese whenever the 'Romeo' annoyed her.
. I think Letters to God is better, though, Perhaps this was an earlier work and the writer has improved,
. Note for the author: for Islamic romance novels, you can refer to Fatimah Syarha's and A, Ubaidillah Alias's, or even Habiburrahman elShirazy's works for references on Islamic romance, For the writing and dialogue, I suggest you read more contemporary fiction for better ideas on dialogues that don't sound like they are from Mills amp Boon novels from thes amps.
I pray you drop the 'NLOG' mentality because that isdecades ago,
I thank you for writing an English book about an Islamic girl main character that girls can look up to, but there is room for improvements.
Heaven Sent is a story about Sarah, a Muslim girl who pursues her study at Reading University, Sarah is a faithful Muslim girl who strictly abides with her principles as a Muslim in foreign country, I can say that the story is quite cliché and predictable Im referring to Sarah and Jonah, their encounters and everything but it can make your heart flutters as its mostly happens in the book not real life.
Anyway, I enjoyed the story even though I found the first half of the book is quite repetitive from the first book “Letters to God” by repetitive, the whole things are kinda like copy and paste from the first book but its bearable.
Nonetheless, the second part of the book is rather interesting as it delves on Sarahs journey at the end of her study plus the arranged marriage things I already can predict the situation before reading the next book but the whole book is quite good and suitable for early readers.
One of my favorite local novel, Heaven Sent by norhafsah. hamid. Honestly, I dont really like reading novels, I can easily count the novel that I have in my book collection, But when I came across this book, I fall in love with the title amp cover illustration!
Just so you know, when I fall in love with a book, I will buy it as soon as possible without looking for its review or synopsis beforehand.
Coz for me, if the title itself is strong enough to be the reason for me to own it, then it must be a good book.
My own logic.
I love the heroin of this novel, Sarah, Such a brilliant girl with a strong passion for studying, as well as a good muslimah whos really strict in taking care of her deen.
Being a student in a non muslim country, and surrounded by non muslim friends arent the excuse to make her far from her religion instead she managed to make others fall in love with Islam.
I dont wanna say much about the storyline coz I might write a spoiler here, I dont know whether I can call this book a love novel yes theres love between a man amp a woman in it, Sarah amp Jonah but its not a lovey dovey one.
And its not really a love story, Its more to a story between a slave amp her God, and a journey on how someone found God in his life.
. di blog gt sitelink com/reviewb The book fill up the gap on the missing pieces from the first book, It is nice how the book is structure and organize in
such a way it could be put side by side with Letter to God whereby one serve as a story and the other as a diary.
Sarah character in the book and her connection with the rest of the characters developed and expanded well in this book.
It also shows the emotions of Sarah well and better understanding of the situation or problem faced to the readers more vividly Sarah is a Muslim girl faced with challenges and obstacles to remain true to her religion.
Whilst she endures hardship, she also found friendship and love,
Jonah is the 'modern day' Romeo and enjoys the company of women but when he met Sarah, his whole world changed.
Both are from different background and religion but yet their path kept crossing, Is it fate or just coincidence The story of Sarah, and her encounter with Jonah, Yes, it is the classic playboy x good girl trope but that trope is famous for a reason ehemm, I love the fact that not all things circle around them, and that the heroin have a busy life of her own as a student, i relate with herIt is an Islamic love story the story of a love kept safe and protected.
The cons is the "not like other girl" cliches that was stressed in some parts of the books.
I believe that we are past shaming girl for being girl the makeup, dress up etc, So i think that the "not like other girl" part is really unnecessary, Sarah is just fine, even if she is like other girls :,/
Although im loving this one, there's a few things i dislike such as how people in this book repeatedly praised Sarah "she's not like the other girl".
I think im fine if it's only happened once or twice, Like how people praised her not wearing a single make up compare to the other girls, Nevertheless, it is still a good book amp i learn a lot from this, it's just not the best in my opinion but still adore it with all my heart
"God has given each of us different heart.
Some hearts are just blacker than others, Forget them. Just remember, god is great, This is just a minor hiccup in your life, Every one of us won't be spared from being tested, We accept it, learn from it and move on, " I would say that the plot was quite predictable, but it was still very impactful in its own way!
Beautifully written, almost feel like I was reading a classic! I love how the author instilled the islamic values in this novel.
It taught me how to implement it in life and also encouragingly inspired me to be better and not to be complacent with my Islamic knowledge.
Sarah was truly one inspiring girl, I wish to have such strength and hardwilled heart like her!
The most salient lesson that I have learned was our pasts were really didn't matter in the eyes of our Creator.
I love it when every character in the novel was showing their capability towards betterment, It just showed how Allah could always gives His guidance to any person He wants,
All in all, it is a worthy read for me, both for my soul and pleasure,
: Ive read this books series when I was in semester break, Which is aboutmonths had passed when Im writing this review,
I read the abridge one, But there is no abridge version yet on goodreads, Hence Im going to leave the same review through all series,
I like the main character sarah, She obeys to the Islamic laws and recommendations, take good care of herself, shes an independent girl and respectful to her parents and family.
Sarah was not only taking care of her friends, but also her friends parents, Which I think is a good character that we should follow,
But I dont like Sarahs character of being bad tempered, Whereby, all of her friends know if there is thing that she doesnt like, she will be mad,
To me, being a muslim, we should not getting mad easily, There are things that we can be mad or better be silent, or we can give advice appropriately,
Plotwise. Some people commented that it was cliche, But personally, its fine with me, Because, throughout reading the book, you get the hidden messages the writer trying to convey, Cerita pasal seorang gadis yang sangat menjaga prinsip dia sebagai gadis melayu, Walaupun macam macam yang dia hadapi kat luar negara tu,
I love Sarah Muslim friendly chic lit i would say as reading this reminds me of my time in high school, reading novels and wanting to pursue my studies in oversea.
Now at the age of, it's gives me butterflies, in a good way though, Alhamdulillah for my life before, now and later,
Heaven Sent is a complete story of Sarah and Yousuf from the beginning their uni years in Reading until they got married.
A good happy ending, and an expected one,
Letters to God got me to start journalling again, Of course thanks to my bestfriends for suggesting journalling too, they were right, i find it therepeuting,
Letters to God is a series of Sarah's love letters to God when she was in Uni, written through the point of view of a practising Muslim girl.
Heaven Sent gives us the complete story of Sarah and Yoousef,
İf you hate happy ending, this book is not the book for you, İf you want to feel a bit dreamy, uve chosen the right one,
For me, this book reminds me of what a Muslim is, being an individual muslim, the basic core of how a Muslim should carry themselves as written in the Quran.
About our faith in God, what must and mustn't be done if one is a practising Muslim, in a lighter approach.
A good reminder to refresh our memories on what we've learnt back in school and keeping good faith on what's coming now and later.
İ don't read novels for years and this book got me back into it, . so I'm quite impressed.
Took meweeks to finish it though but it's ok,
Overall, i like the content and the writers approach into reminding us on how we should present ourselves as Muslims.
PS : I'm just at awe, The writer wrote books written from Youseff and Linda's pov the characters in the stories, I'm looking forward to reading Divine blessings too,
Much I highly recommend this book to all young adults out there, It has a lot of life lessons that you could learn, Especially about being a respectful woman, You have to love yourself more before you want to love others, Put more values on you,
Know your worth. And be strict with your principle because thats how people will respect you, The story is quite cliché and predictable, It is about a girl deemed, 'she is not like the other girls she's special a good muslimah who doesn't do dating'.
Then, she attracted a handsome tall man with blue eyes, Played hard to get. Gaduh macam cerita Korea sebab perempuan tu degil, Next, the man reverted to Islam, cari perempuan tu balik, dan kahwin,
I am more interested with the story of Jaws and Linda, Jaws lelaki kampung dari Kelantan suka perli Linda orang KL rambut blonde, Kata Jaws dekat Linda, "Mata ko cacat sebab warna biru, " Jaws juga bagi ajaran sesat dekat Johan, Johan nak belajar BM sebab nak impress Sarah, Tapi Jaws ajar dialek Kelantan dan ajar ayat bukanbukan, Bongok la Jaws. After you've read this book, you'll know that Islam is a religion that take a full care of its worshippers.
Even though they're many prohibition in Islam, but it's for our own good, This book also display that Islam is a way of life and can be easily practiced by all walks of life.
Sarah, the main character, shows that Islam is not discriminating women by wearing hijab in public and in front of ajnabi person who she can marry.
Women need to cover their aurat as protection from evil eyes of the men, Islam also allow us to make friends with all people regardless of races and religions,
In term of love, by reading this book we acknowledge how to approach a woman to be our spouse in halal way and following Islam's guideline, from the beginning until nikah.
Done reading. Boleh baca ni dulu baru Letters to God atau LTG dulu pun okay, Sama jugak ceritanya pasal Sarah, Cuma dalam novel ni in brief the author write on how Sarah met Jonah, How the characters develop and interact to each others, The book tell us about the relationship between woman and man in islamic perspectives, friendships in different religions, culture and diversity.
Not that to heavy tp still a part of soulfood yg pada i author sampaikan mesej dalam penulisan yg simple tapi x berat sangat.
Islamik tp mcm macam mana ya nak cakap, mcm x heavy dan senang untuk difahami haa something like that, .
