Acquire Purgatory (Matt Jensen: The Last Mountain Man, #3) Generated By William W. Johnstone Readable In Version
the Matt Jensen series, Begins by citing a great deal of backstory, Two intersecting storylines. A trio of bankrobbers two of whom get arrested by the Marshall of Sentinel and Matt who rides into Purgatory and gets sentenced to hang on trumped up charges in a town held hostage by a corrupt marshall and hisdeputies.
Knowing that the series continues formore volumes one can feel safe in assuming Matt gets off, The plot involves the means of his escape and ways in which the plot lines come together, Easy Read! Maybe a little too easy, Thank heaven for "Large Print" books, I should be able to read for the rest of this year, Can you review Audio Books on goodreads : Sure enjoyed this book, love his writing and this is a great one!
As I read the Johnstone Clan's The Last Mountain Man series from the start to this third in the series it becomes very apparent that the crafter of the tales is a far better storyteller than those handling the other parts of the series I've read so far.
These three are all complex with interwoven threads that bind to make a solid story,
However, this one is not as well written as the first two, Specifically the first few chapters that are a mishmosh of trying to retell the two previous books and start telling this one, One reason for this may be that this book came out the same year as the last and the one previous to it came out only months earlier.
Chugalugging these books seems to have strained production values,
Something else is that in the previous book much is made of how well Matt Jensen is known, Books and newspaper stories circulating all over, Yet no one knows Matt through out the book until the last few chapters, I realize that had to be done due to the intent of the plot, It's just not in keeping with the earlier intent of the character,
The bulk of the book is still good, lacking the depth of the first two, The characters are especially well explained, Excellent work is done with a secondary character that is law enforcement that, over the course of the book, realizes what is really going on,
Despite the poorly written first chapters
Bottom line: I recommend this bookofPurgatory, Arizona, is the last place you'll ever cross the law.
Because in this town, the law is the personal fiefdom of an evil manas Matt Jensen discovered on his first day in town, when an unavoidable gunfight and a dead deputy landed him in jail, sentenced to hang at Yuma Prison.
But when the train from Purgatory to Yuma is violently derailed, Matt is set free amidst the carnagewith a choice to make, He can run for his life and live like an outlaw or take a chance with the determined U, S. Marshall who must hunt him down, For Matt, the choice will be easy, Because when both he and his pursuer tangle with a vicious band of outlaws, they're both caught on the same bloody trail, . . that leads straight back to Purgatory,

My out ofstars,
Matt Jensen is a wellknown character in Johnstone country, Matts given name was Matt Cavanaugh, His parents and sister were killed years back, and he was in an orphanage for a while, Now Matt is a man who doesnt seek trouble or fame hes just a drifting sort, Matts last name is now Jensen because of his lifechanging encounter with Smoke Jensen, but thats a story to read in earlier novels,
Here Matt is just wanting to stop to resupply himself, get a drink and then mosey, However, as soon as he steps off his horse in front of the Pair O Dice saloon, his life is about to change, Matt is now on his way to being hanged in Yuma after a sham trial, While on the train to his final days, the train is derailed, Now Matt is on the hunt for the men who not only caused death and destruction, but they are fugitives with a litany of lawlessness,
In the book, readers will be engaged as Matt tries to clear his name, bring villains to justice and stay alive, As Matt hunts those who are responsible for a little girls death, he meets men who think hes too young to be a threat until they learn he isnt.
One of the characters in the book is a U, S. Marshal named Kyle who at one point believes that Jensen is guilty of murder, maybe more, Readers will see if and how Kyles understanding of Matt might change,
I really enjoyed the story and was engaged with the lead character as he went after the killers with singular focus, There are various times in the tale when Matt can be seen as a man with manners, treats all women with respect, and knows he doesnt have to pull a gun to prove himself to anyone.
I like Matt Jensen as he can be gentle and kind, but he can also be deadly when necessary,
Dont be surprised if youre reading this through without putting it down, There are surprises in the plot, and the ending is climactic! So, grab a copy, then set yourself down and enjoy the action in Johnstones Purgatory!
