Distracted Everyday Heroes World by Michelle Fernandez

Set in K, Brombergs The Everyday Heroes World one of the things that has been such fun is finding so many new authors to me, such as Michelle Fernandez.

This is a friends to lovers story that ticked the boxes for me, From the first to the last chapter I was totally invested in Sabrina and Spencer's story, Spencer has been in love with Sabrina since he was fifteen, but after a night that he has never forgotten, their friendship ended.

Fast forward six years and they are in Sunnyville for another funeral, Coming face to face with the woman he loves and her daughter Lily, he hopes to have a chance to talk to her and make peace with the past.
What he doesnt know is that Sabrina has always been in love with him too,

There were times when my heart just about broke for Sabrina and Spencer, but the chemistry and connection between them is just as strong as when they were younger.
Their journey to a happily ever after is rocky but when they get there it will be worth everything that theses two have had to go through.

It was fabulous to see the Malones make an appearance and it just added to my enjoyment of Distracted.
This may have been my first book from Michelle Fernandez but it most certainly wont be my last.

A best friends second chance, single parent romance, yes please

Sabrina and Spencer were best friends growing up and as they grew up their feelings changed from friends to something more, but they never told each other their feelings.

When they each go their separate ways to pursue their careers they only see each other again at Sabrinas parents funeral.
And one thing lead to another and a steamy hot night happens, Six years later another funeral brings them back together but now Sabrina has a little girl, But after what happened six years ago Sabrina cant seem to forgive Spencer and doesnt want him anywhere near her daughter.
But fate has something else in store for them, And not to mention Spencer will do anything to get back his best friend but also the women he loves.

I seriously enjoyed this one, I love single parent books and it was a second chance romance, totally ate it up, The bond they have just kept on putting them together, if that isnt fate I dont know what is.
And Sabrinas little girl, talk about cute overload, This was a cute, funny, sweet low on the angst book that will definitely keep your attention to the end

I have voluntarily left this review, Overall Grade:

What isnt to love about a second chance romance that features a surprise baby All the elements you love about those tropes are found in Michelle Fernandezs Everyday Heroes offering, Distracted.
In this story, Fernandez has done a superb job of showing the pain of reconciliation after years of heartache, along with the consequences of hiding a child of her biological parent.
Intertwined with those ideas is the hope of finding family beyond your biology and acknowledging your part in hurting someone else.
These are the fundamental aspects of Distracted, Add in a little romantic suspense to the formula, and you have a book thats a pageturner.

What I liked a LOT about Distracted:

The chemistry between Spencer and Sabrina.
Fernandez makes it clear from the first chapter, and you quite frankly want to smack them both upside the head in their denial of it.
Its obvious, but Fernandez makes you pine for their coupling, Thankfully, when they finally fall into it, its fiery, She paces these moments out well for her reader, so you are “all in” with these two.

The romantic suspense portion of the story is a pageturner, . . until its resolution. Fernandez does a superb job of piquing our interest with the person threatening Spencer or Sabrina, However, as it unravels later in the story, it becomes clouded, and it feels a little underdeveloped at that point.
That being said, I didnt want to put the book down until it was worked out,

Sabrinas daughter is adorable, Whats not to love about ayearold girl who loves unicorns, She lends the story lightness when its necessary to break up Spencer and Sabrinas angst,

The inclusion of Brombergs Everday Heroes, Im sure, had

I read all of the Bromberg EH prior to this book, Id love turning the page to see who is revealed.
As it is, its clear that Fernandez has firmly planted Sabrina and Spencer in this world, only adding further dimension to it.
I mean, isnt that the purpose of all of these great authors such as Fernandez adding to it

The revelation of Spencer and Sabrinas story.
Its sometimes hard to read a second chance romance when the author chooses the first third of the book to tell the story of the past.
Fernandez was keen in revealing their past in chapters scattered throughout their present, I prefer that type of organization over the first portion of the book laying out the extended details of their past.
It felt balanced within the confines of Distracteds story,

What I would have liked to see revised:

As I mentioned above, I think the romantic suspense portion of the plot could have used a bit more work.

The uneven depiction of Spencers interest in Sabrina, The “I cant have her/I want to have her” wasnt necessary for their present, There were times when he was pining for her and then would say he could just go back to his life.
I prefer more consistency with that type of tensionbuilding,

The secret revelation, To be honest, it was underwhelming, I would have preferred more strife at that moment,

Spencer mentions a drug dependency, but that portion of the story wasnt fleshed out enough for it to be impactful.
I would have loved to know more about that so I could feel the gravity of Spencers decision.

Michelle Fernandezs Distracted is a fine addition to the Everyday Heroes World, Shes placed Spencer and Sabrinas love story squarely in a world filled with hunky hottie heroes and heroines.
If you love the angst of second chance, friends to lovers, surprise baby romances, then you will definitely want to read this book.
It doesnt disappoint. .
