love a good mystery and this kept me up reading all night to finish, I love it. LOVE! I disliked the first half of this novel, and I disliked Gabby, I disliked the instalove. I disliked all the temper tantrums noyearold should behave that way, Not enough was done with the southern setting, which is a real shame, I've been to Louisiana and Mississippi, and they are beautiful states, but all the reader gets is several bland references to magnolia trees, I disliked what felt like racism against northerners, I disliked the selfrighteous sounding dialogue, And this felt like the setup for a longer series, but I guess that never panned out,
The mystery didn't heat up until the last quarter of the novel, but it did pick up after that mark, The tragedy of an innocent man dying for the lifelong lies of another was just glossed over, It felt wrong. Not all wrongs can be righted by glossing them over or asking a priest/God/your social circle for forgiveness,
I'm not sure someone like Gabby is any kind of a role model, She's so given over to rage and judgemental behaviour, No sane and selfrespecting man would tolerate her level of abuse, I wasn't convinced anyone could fall in love with such a harpy, and at such short notice,
I was really disappointed, I went into this with high hopes, I enjoyed visiting the American South, and I thought there would be some of that flavour in this novel, There really wasn't.
Maybe I'm not the right audience for this novel, since the other reviewers seem to have enjoyed it more than I have, When in radio, the one thing a DJ never wants to happen is dead air it can be the kiss of death of a broadcasting career, But what is is girl to do when she finds a dead body laying in the stations doors, along with another unconscious body,
Dead Air is a read you can't put down and just when you think you've figured out what is going on and who the murdered is, the author throws in an exciting plot twist that you will not see coming!
Thoroughly enjoyable treat.
Sweet. Nice. Actually quite cute. But the mystery part Didn't work for me, I already guessed or rather knew who the culprit was and also why it was done, So, to me it was just a cute romance story with a little mystery thrown in,
A combination of sweet romance and murder mystery, I loved the hero and heroine, as well as the dozens of supporting characters, I also really liked this author's style, Very nicely doneWhen she finds her coworker's body in front of the station doors, nighttime DJ Gabby Rogillio knows it was murder, But how can the police suspect the station's owner, a man who's been like a father to Gabby She's determined to clear her friend's name, and will recruit anyone she can find to help.
Even the mysterious newcomer in town, handsome businessman Clark McKay, Gabby doesn't quite trust Clark, but she can't crack the case alone, Especially when the killer threatens them botheither back down from the investigation, . . or be silenced forever. This book started off really well, then it became boring and dull, Robert Ellison was married to Amber and owned the local radio station, KLUV, in Mystique, Gabby Rogillio was the late night DJ, Howard was the morning DJ she was waiting on to relieve her so that she would be free to attend the meeting Robert had called for that morning.
Rumor was that he had sold the station and was going make that announcement, She stepped out of the work room and was introduced to Clark McKay, She turned around and noticed that the back door to the station was open, She stepped toward it and found both Robert and Howard on the ground bleeding, Howard was dead but Robert still had a pulse, The sheriff was called and an ambulance came to pick up the guys,
Gabby soon learned that Clark was the new owner of the radio station, Robert was unconscious but seemed to have a good shot at recovering, Gabby and her friends went to check on Amber, She seemed broken up but getting by, Clark had someone paint on his car telling him to go home and then his house was broken into, Gabby was disappointed to learn that Clark had purchased a house that she had been saving for, She thought the house would be hers in anothermonths,
It was announced in the news that as soon as Robert recovered, he would be charged with Howard's murder since the weapon was found in his hands.
Gabby announced on the radio that she was looking for someone to come forward with information proving that Robert didn't kill Howard, She then found out at the end of her shift that someone had slashed all for of the tires on her car, The sheriff didn't seem that interested in finding any other suspects for Howard's murderer,
Gabby found out that Clark had left his hometown due to a story he had written that exposed some crooked politicians, Gabby told Clark about her last boyfriend using her to lure a stalker out of hiding and recorded her encounter with the stalker to write an article about him.
He had put her in danger and she was left leery of men in general, She was interested in Clark and he was interested in her even though they tried to maintain their space,
They worked together to discover secrets held by others in town while trying to find the murderer, Amber had dated Sam during high school and left town after graduation, She had a son and put him up for adoption, Her child was adopted by her cousin, Jane and her husband, Jane died and her son was raised by her husband, Martin Tankersley, He had been abusive to Jane and was also abusive to their son, Eric,
Eric and his father moved to Mystique, Eric found out that Amber was his mother and that her husband, Robert, didn't know about him, He used this information to blackmail Amber, Eric got a job and the radio station owned by Robert and Howard, Eric planned to use the money he got from Amber to destroy his father who owned a competing radio station, His plan was to kill both Howard and Robert to gain control of the radio station, He had thought they both were dead, He placed the gun in Robert's hand to make it look like Robert had killed him, Others had seen the two of them arguing, Howard was trying to get Robert to fire Eric, They argued because Howard felt there was something off with Eric and he didn't trust him, Robert ended up buying Howard's half of the radio station,
Eric had gone too far with his blackmailing scheme and Amber went to Robert and told him what was going on with Eric, Robert had then sold the radio station to Clark, His plan was to divorce Amber and leave town, He accused Amber of having continued having a relationship with Sam while they were married, Then Eric tired to kill him and left him for dead,
Gabby and her friends went to the sheriff and so did Clark, The sheriff chose not to believe them, Gabby headed home and was confronted by Eric, Clark had gone looking for her and jumped Eric from behind and knocked his gun out of his hands, Gabby had called the police while they were fighting and Eric ended up in the custody of the sheriff,
Gabby's friends had been talking to Amber about Christ while she was waiting for Robert to be released from the hospital and Gabby received a call that she had accepted Christ as her Savior.
Gabby was very happy. She waited with Amber for Robert to come home after he was released, Robert had asked Clark for a ride home, They talked about his behavior in regard to Amber and Robert decided that the right thing to do was to have a discussion with Amber and really
listen to her.
She deserved a chance at his forgiveness, Robert made the decision return home and give her that chance,
Clark called in to the radio station while Gabby was at work and dedicated a song to her, He also told her that her radio program had been syndicated, He told her that he had been looking for someone to love and he thought that someone might be her, He had bought a house and was looking for someone to spend the rest of his life with, He thought that she just might be the one, Dead Air!!
