As the title says, it is a book about manners, About remembering to say please and thank you, especially if someone helps you or does something for you, The Backyardigans tell the tale in setting of the past in Egypt, The Nile is empty and they must find a way to fill it up again, The princess is rather rude and demanding and never says please or thank you to her servants, They have to ask a sphinx for help and must bring her gifts, The go through the desert looking for and finding the gifts, all the while without a please or thank you from the princess, In the end the find the secret to the Nile filling with water again, . . Manners!
We read this last night at bedtime and Julia liked it more than I thought she would, I think she liked it so much because it stayed so true to the cartoon episode that she knows, She knew what was going to happen and she knew what CleoTasha needed to do, This was the first book we've read that was like this if we have read other books that revolved around current cartoon characters they weren't taken from actual episodes.
Say Please! is cute for the younger crowd it points out that saying 'please' and 'thank you' is important and that you can miss out if you don't use your manners.
