I generally steer away from the American marketed Tibetan Buddhist literature, this book caught my eye and my curiosity,
Having just received my new BeBook eReader wanted to buy my first ebook, So I took the plunge for this book, The style of the book is soft and soothing and the writing is easy to grasp, The writer offers examples that work for today things that are constant and common for all beings,
If you are truly interested in understanding the root of your dis ease I would highly suggest you read this bookit may change your expectations of life and improve your ability to live your life fuller! Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche has an easy, familiar and humorous way of communicating.
It makes this an enjoyable and informative read as it discusses very complex subject matter, Not surprisingly this book repeats much of what was written in Joy of Living, Still it is worthwhile to hear again in a slightly different form, The descriptions of different meditation techniques is helpful, Mingyur Rinpoche's book contains wisdom which can change our lives the book is so clear and inspiring his courses are also brilliant a trustworthy and precious teaching Mingyur Rinpoche is a Tibetan lama and monk who looks like a cute little Buddha, but beneath the smiles is the story of a child who, despite his father being one of the greatest Tibetan masters alive at the time, suffered from severe anxiety.
As in his last book, Joyful Living, he shares in an easy conversational style what he learned on his path out of his early misery, but this book is practical in nature than the previous one.
It offers direct step by step instructions on meditation,
Though aimed at a general readership, the book may still hold insights for the seasoned Tibetan Buddhist practitioner, Its always good to check in on the approach taken by teachers other than your own and to note the different language they use to describe the same thing, Sometimes a slightly different angle on something can provide clarification, Even without that, its an enjoyable personable read, and theres no doubt that anyone relatively new to Buddhism will find much here of value, Rinpoche is freely giving us the treasure, This book teaches how to connect with yourself, people around you and life again, It teaches us to welcome problems, pain and obstacles and befriend them, I respect this book and rinpoche, I've read a great many books on Buddhism over years and this has to be one of the very best, Clear, practical, commensense guidance for any one at any point on the path, Delivered on time and in excellent condition, Completely satisfied If you find Yongyur's talks on YouTube, he's Tibetan and his English is passable but not perfect as in this book although entertaining and clear, Therefore he must've had an English ghost writer correcting the text, What's important is the communication of the Buddhist path, He is able to explain concepts and teaching in easy to follow bite size writing, He illuminates The Way with personal anecdotes that take any difficulty out of understanding, Easy to read, highly recommended, So worth reading. Just the picture on the front makes me smile and feel inspired to embrace life with an attitude that is soooo positive, If people would read a book like this, they could spread peace, joy and happiness just by hanging out with others,
Did I mention that it is an easy, fast read, but good to have a highlighter to emphasize points,
ENJOY! Great for silencing the voices in your head, If you are new to meditation this is the book for you A great book 'the suffering of change' This book changed my life, I have PTSD and anxiety, so I started learning how to meditate and be mindful several years ago, This book helped me out tremendously, Although its written by a Buddhist monk, theres a lot you can take from this book if you arent religious at all, All you need is a mind and some time,
Ive recommended this to several friends and theyve loved it, What on earth would I do without Yongey He has given me so much peace, I am so happy that someone is willing to explain these teachings in a way that is easy to understand, I highly recommend this book and the Joy of Living which was a life changing read for me, Yongey Mingyur is one of the most celebrated among the new generation of Tibetan meditation masters, whose teachings have touched people of all faiths around the world, His first book, The Joy of Living, was a New York Times bestseller hailed as compelling, readable, and informed Buddhadharma and praised by Richard Gere, Lou Reed, and Julian Schnabel for its clarity, wit, and unique insight into the relationship between science and Buddhism.
His new book, Joyful Wisdom, addresses the timely and timeless problem of anxiety in our everyday lives, From the, year old perspective of Buddhism, Yongey Mingyur writes, every chapter in human history could be described as an age of anxiety, The anxiety we feel now has been part of the human condition for centuries, So what do we do Escape or succumb Both routes inevitably lead to complications and problems in our lives, Buddhism, he says, offers a third option, We can look directly at the disturbing emotions and other problems we experience in our lives as stepping stones to freedom, Instead of rejecting them or surrendering to them, we can befriend them, working through them to reach an enduring authentic experience of our inherent wisdom, confidence, clarity, and joy,
Divided into three parts like a traditional Buddhist text, Joyful Wisdom identifies the sources of our unease, describes methods of meditation that enable us to
transform our experience into deeper insight, and applies these methods to common emotional, physical, and personal problems.
The result is a work at once wise, anecdotal, funny, informed, and graced with the authors irresistible charm, .
