a brilliant read. Move up is a very interesting book which offers a new perspective about culture and attitude from people of different countries.
This book presents the RMobility Index, an indicator that measures the progress of different countries or cultures even, according some qualitative and quantitative components.
One of the elements creative is considering sex in order to conceive the RMobility Index, In this edition, we can find a multidisciplinary background because there is a lot neuroscience but at the same time biology, history and sociology.
I enjoy the studio about reptilian brain, Reptilian is common among human beings, we have basic needs, Even, most successful people face this reality like Bill Clinton, a very intelligent and prepared man who succumbed in just a moment.
Reptilian part can explain this, In contrast with many people, the progress of mankind is not a fatal fate, We can choose our destiny, we can move up, I bought this book and enjoyed it a lot, You should too. A great book, overall. Although it is not an academic heavy book, it provides an exceptionally interesting approach of how culture and biological factors play a role in the ”Development” of a country.
Economists can view this book as a primer of incorporating cultural values with modernization of a country, I
encourage to research these reputable authors first hand or after reading the book, I like C. Rapaille. His observations of different cultures are very accurate and his presentations are amazing, Mr Rapaille new book most interesting part lies in the decoding the culture code, It has already been described in its Culture code previous book recommended reading, He pretends to fight against stereotypes but, sometimes, likes to expose some, like persistent French bashing,
Nevertheless, M. Rapaille approach is really interesting and innovative, Brilliant to read!! It is an extraordinary book, Real, critical, with clear statistics and extensive research,
Culture code lovers, make sure to check out this outstanding research!! Move up discusses culture codes of different countries, social changes, also how cultures go up, and how the world moves
The best thing is that you can read it in a couple of hours!
Congratulations to the writers.
not as engaging a read as expected Another great book by Dr, R. Gave clarity on some interesting cultural points, I do not know where to start, First let me say that I agree in spirit with the majority of the book, Second I am a prolific reader of books within this space, I probably read three or four nonfiction books on economic, historic or cultural progress per month, and have for ten years or so.
That said, of the hundreds of books I have read this is probably the worst one of them all.
Every page is filled with sweeping politically incorrect racist or nationalistic generalizations with little or no justification, Don't get me wrong, I am not pro political correctness, but in a serious book it is not normal to have every page filled with unsupported comments like:
The Chinese and French are dirty people.
The Japanese and Germans are clean,
The Japanese are violent remember Nanking!
American justice is racist as proven by a study on the distribution of marijuana arrests in Ohio.
These are not rare examples, There are ptobably three or four such examples on every page, In every case, they state bold hypotheses which would require significant empirical support, They do not provide much of any,
They then go on to throw out a laundry list of cultural values needed to Move Up.
And a lot of it ptobably makes intuitive sense, Again though, no empirical support is given,
In summary this is not a serious work, It is a light, breezy book with few pages, large type and lots of pictures and cartoons, In other words it is a non fiction book aimed not at serious readers, but at business people with short attention spans and low levels of professional skepticism who already agree with the authors' perspective.
Perhaps there is a serious or scholarly version of this book with a vast literature of support for all these sweeping generalizations.
If so, I suggest you read it instead, Move Up is moving forward! I cant think of a person who would not benefit from reading this book.
It dispels common myths, and it teaches about what our needs are and how to meet them.
Great book, great insights. You will enjoy it from the very first chapter and learn than you expected about the history of the world With an abundance of data and evidence, Move Up explores the societal and biological factors that determine whether cultures are able to ascend socially, economically and intellectually.
This provocative, ambitious and entertaining book devises a formula that will allow countries and individuals to assess their own potential for upward mobility.
Drawing on science and statistics as much as on human instinct and emotion, Move UP reconsiders the modern world with a motion to improving it.
