book, and indeed a great series, Loved it. For me any books written by Travis are certainly amazing, which thend one was, however Denning has done a great job of getting the charachters to fit into the place they are meant to be.
Very immersive and a thrilling read,
Not as action packed as the first two, however it does contain some incredibly important charachter development and is vital to the story.
/Forty years after the Battle of Yavin a dangerous new era in the Star Wars epic begins the revelations are shocking, the stakes desperate, and the enemy everywhere.
As civil war threatens the unity of the Galactic Alliance, Han and Leia Solo have enraged their families and the Jedi by joining the Corellian insurgents.
But the Solos draw the line when they discover the rebels plot to make the Hapan Consortium an ally which rests upon Hapan nobles murdering their pro Alliance queen and her daughter.
Yet the Solos selfless determination to save the queen cannot dispel the inescapable consequences of their actions, that will pit mother against son and brother against sister in the battles ahead.
For as Jacen Solos dark powers grow stronger under the Dark Jedi Lumiya, and his influence over Ben Skywalker becomes insidious, Lukes concern for his nephew forces him into a life and death struggle against his fiercest foe, and Han and Leia Solo find themselves at the mercy of their deadliest enemy.
their son.
Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Warsexpanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Warsbooks of the last thirty years! A great read I love SW: Legacy of the Force: Tempest! Great book to read for sure! Tempest was a great read, although certainly far from being one of my favorite SW books.
Personally, I preferred Bloodlines, but still liked this one than Betrayal, What makes this one good is everything surrounding Hapes, Tenel Ka is an underutilized character in the EU, but is in one of the complex positions at this point in the timeline.
Without spoiling things, I'll say I really found the battles whether in space or hand to hand combat very thrilling to read.
Great matchups keep you guessing about who will survive and who won't, What this book does expertly is keep you guessing as to the upcoming actions of the characters.
In a civil war like this, Legacy keeps its characters on the fence with being good or evil, fighting for or against the Alliance, and, most importantly, against family.
This book did great things with Allana, Ben, and Alema, Denning, while not my favorite SW author, does a great job writing his characters like Alema, What didn't work for me in this book is how he will write so many different twists and plot lines in an attempt to be interesting that things often get too confusing although I ended up following pretty well compared to Star by Star or the Joiner King.
Maybe the worst part was something that could have easily been fixed in the editing this book unlike the previous two does not have section headings that help you know where the action has shifted or that the perspective has changed.
Denning would often switch character perspectives seamlessly, leaving me behind and confused, The good news is that this is changed in Exile, Overall, Tempest is a thrilling read that really propels Legacy forward, This book has rekindled my inner "Star Wars Geekdom", Any Star Wars fan should read this series, Increible! that's spanish for awesome, I can't wait for the next set of books in the series, I certainly hope at some point in the future some of these books are made into an animated series or role playing games for the PC and other console game systems.
Most of the writers in this series have written for the Star Wars Expanded Universe, They bring the same intensity, heart break, and intrigue that has astounded us all, Fan Tabulous! Overall, I'd say the series is getting better and better, although this one has a rather complex plot, I wasn't completely sure I'd like in the beginning, but I wound up loving in the end.
I particularly enjoyed the epilogue, I feel like we don't really get to see this character's perspective or POV too often, and it made for a nice hange of pace.
Now, on to the next one, Loved every page Jacens journey through this series is riviting can't wait to read the next instalment.
Simply excellent book. This is a great series for Star Wars, Troy did well in keeping my attention, painting a great picture as the story moved and left me craving to read the next book.
Great action. Tempest is the third book of the nine part Legacy of the Force series, This book focuses on the attempt on the life of the Hapan Consortiums Queen Mother Tenel Ka and the implications for the war between the Galactic Alliance and the Corellian system.
It takes place just a couple of days after
the end of Bloodlines by Karen Traviss,
This book surpassed my expectations, which were very high to begin with since Troy Denning is one of my favorite Star Wars writers and he had set up the LotF series so well in the Dark Nest Trilogy.
The plot revolves around the new but no better Corellian Sytem Prime Minister Dur Gejjin trying to bring the Hapans into the war on his side with the help of Han and Leia Solo.
This plotline is interwoven very nicely with the ongoing plot regarding Jacen Solo and Ben Skywalker which continues to shock and amaze.
Luke and Mara Skywalker are also involved in this plotline and in this book the pieces start to come together a bit and they finally are forced into a frantic confrontation with the Dark Lady Lumiya.
What made this book so good for me was that the action sequences were simply amazing, from begin to end they all felt compelling and full of Star Wars magic and they covered a great deal of locations and types of combat, from the Jedi Temple training vault on Coruscant to the marshy hunting retreat of a Hapan Noble family.
The characters all felt spot on as usual with Troy Denning and I found that the overall GA/Corellia plotline continued to be both extremely plausible and thoroughly intriguing as it spread into the Hapan Cluster.
I missed seeing Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne who only got a couple of mentions in the book but I certainly enjoyed the pair of Coruscant Detectivesa Bith and a Rodian who tag along Luke and Mara Skywalker for a part story and I hope they might pop up again somewhere down the line.
I think that Tempest is the best book of Legacy of the Force so far and that is saying something based on how much I enjoyed both Betrayal and Bloodlines.
It has great action, characterizations, plot and a number of shocking surprises thrown in along the way.
I couldn't stop reading until I had finished it, The only downside is that it will be Marchuntill book four Exile by Aaron Allston is released.
