you think life on other planets, aliens and UFOs are a load of rubbish, then you will probably hate this book, If, on the other hand, you have an open mind about such matters you might well enjoy this fast paced thriller, The story is based on a true incident back in thes, and Mr Sheldon has certainly done a lot of research into the matter, as you will find in the Authors Notes at the end of the book.
The evidence in these notes certainly gives the reader something to think about, Commander Robert Bellamy, a Naval Intelligence officer, is something of a James Bond, Given an impossible task by the NSA National Security Agency of finding ten people who witnessed the crash of an UFO, without so much as a name or even which country they are in, he locates and identifies them all only to discover they are all then being killed off.
Our
hero then turns from the Hunter to the Hunted as the CIA set out to eliminate Robert Bellamy himself and he enters a cat and mouse chase around Europe, never knowing who he can trust.
A very clever novel, with impossible twists and turns, I couldnt put it down, It doesnt do to think too much about just how much each off the witnesses was able to remember about their fellow passengers on the bus, or how Robert was on the run for so long without a change of clothes or the opportunity to shower/shave, but then this is just fiction.
And Sheldon was certainly a brilliant storyteller, Nice quick pace, nice character development and I enjoyed the story, the alien stuff wasnt for me but it was overall worth the reading time, Fascinating novel which is plausible in the extreme, Worth the read, worth even the speculation, I highly recommend it. I have never been much of a reader, but read this on a working holiday in Tenerife in, Couldn't put the book down, It took a long time to find the book again, and after reading noticed things that i didn't remember from all those years ago, Poorly developed characters, thin plot and terrible ending, Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse, I got to the final showdown, A few hours of my life Ill never be able to reclaim, First and last time Ill be reading any works by this author, OPERATION DOOMSDAY ACTIVATECommander Robert Bellamy of US Naval Intelligence is dispatched on a top secret mission A weather balloon carrying sensitive military information has crashed in Switzerland Bellamy must locate the ten witnesses to the incident so that they can be sworn to secrecyBut as he conducts his search Bellamy begins to suspect that he too is being hunted by an unknown lethal force that what he was told about the balloon was only one part of an almost unbelievable happeningOPERATION DOOMSDAYxACTIVATExCommander Robert Bellamy of US Naval Intelligence is dispatched on a top secret mission.
