Theres a lot of recipes in this book almostof the book, I have all the respect in the world for Dale there would be no contemporary craft cocktail scene without him but even with the revision this book feels horribly dated.
There are too many vodka drinks, too many mid century monstrosities and very little narrative to the text, There's also a slew of typos and questionable facts in here: 'Cynar' is listed as an aromatized wine it'snot and sherries are lumped into 'fino' or 'oloroso' i.
e. non oxidatively aged and oxidatively aged sub categories rather than dry styles fino, amontillado, manzanilla, oloroso, palo cortadog residual sugar, sweet styles PX, moscatelg sugar and blends as most professionals now categorize them.
You can't possibly tell me an oloroso has in common with a PX than it does a fino, That's just absurd. Forgive the idiom but this book is the very epitome of trying to teach an old dog a new trick, If you're very new spirits and cocktails you might find this book helpful but you'd be so much better off with the Meehan book or one of the Death Co.
