Check Out Around The World In Stilettos (Foot Loose) Imagined By Natalie-Jane Revell Accessible Through Brochure
really fun, lighthearted, fun read I just happened upon right when I needed it! Its about time I listened to this one.
Ive had it sitting on my computer for a while now, I just havent been in the mood, This past week I was looking for something relatively short to get through before I finish up Age of Wonder, so Id be sure I would have a review up this week.
I settled on this one, and I think it was a good one for me right now, I needed some easy, humorous chicklit,
Sophie is hilarious, She can be a total ditz, She daydreams a lot, shes extremely forgetful, shes incredibly clumsy, and shes financially irresponsible, The wonderful thing is that I still loved her in spite of all that, For some reason, it didnt bother me that shes a little immature, Shes just so damn funny! Shes also SUPER British, Its very reminiscent of Bridget Jones, except shes younger and has good fashion sense, She LOVES shoes, and I have to say I dont blame her, There is nothing like walking around in my favorite black suede pumps, It makes me feel sexy, sophisticated, and powerful all at once, Its a woman thing. If I could afford it, I would buy new shoes all the time, But I usually spend my money on books, But if I didnt, I would be just like Sophie, I would be hiding shoes in a secret box so my roommate wouldnt judge me for buying so many,
The triangle between Dan and James is very entertaining and kind of surprising, I thought it was a pretty easy choice, but Sophie seemed to have trouble, She came to her senses, thank goodness! Once again, this was a little reminiscent of Bridget Jones, There wasnt so much of a conflict between the two men, They just both wanted Sophie, but I enjoyed that part of the story line, I couldnt bring myself to give itbecause it reminded me so much of Bridget Joness Diary with a little twist of Confessions of a Shopaholic.
The good news is that if you like those books, youll love this, Its a perfect chicklit book with some romance mixed in,
I though Cori Samuel was perfect for this book, She did such a great job, She really was Sophie for me, I also liked her guy voices for Dan and James, I like it when women narrators do good guy voices, I dont think Id be able to do that, This one is highly recommended to chicklit lovers, I enjoyed this book. The story was good. I loved how the book was read audiobook, I laughed out loud a few times, Audio narrated by Cori Samuel, Sophie Farrier is a twenty three year old shopaholic travel writer with the attention span of a gnat, She is looking for a man and the perfect pair of shoes, not necessarily in that order, Sophie's inability to focus on anything for more than two seconds was reflected in the flow of the book which jumps around with little indication of a change in time and place.
It was also sometimes hard to tell whether Sophie's converstations were internal thoughts or spoken out loud, Bottom line, this is not Sophie Kinsella's shopaholic but it's OK, This book is about a vapid girl that I would detest in real life, More thantimes I said to myself "Why am I reading this", Just horriable! I loved it!! Sophie is ayearold travel writer who loves shoes, Shes also extremely clumsy and flighty, She has a secret crush on her writing and traveling partner Dan, Unfortunately, he has a serious girlfriend even though it seems at times that he is interested in Sophie, Things get complicated for Sophie when she meets James, Should she wait for Dan to come to his senses and leave his girlfriend for her or should she pursue a relationship with James
This book is written by a British author and set in England.
I felt like it was trying too hard to be like Bridget Jones Diary or the Shopaholic books, Sophie was charming and I found her antics mildly amusing but the humor seemed forced at times, I was confused because Dan kept telling Sophie that James was a jerk and she was too good for him in a manner that suggested he knew something about James that Sophie didnt.
Sophies roommate also acted like she knew something about James, Nothing about James was ever revealed though,
I listened to the audio version of this book which was narrated by Cori Samuel, She did a great job even with the voices of the male characters, This was a good book to listen to in the car because it didnt require a lot of concentration,
Might be okay for someone who wants a beach read but I found it difficult to finish,
The main character is the epitome of an airhead, She is completely clueless about almost everything that occurs in her world, Her only concern is shoes and how she looks,.stars. This was a very poor womans Sophie Kinsella, I dont know why I bothered finishing! So vacuous and plotless, Stupid book. Title equals plot. Bad language, dumb characters, no point, I have to first say that I listened to this book, Thank goodness because I never would have spent the time to read it, I listened to it while doing housework this past weekend and because I did not have to focus I finished it.
However it is not a good book, The characters are shallow with the main character the worst offender of lack of depth,
The main character is ayearold travel writer who has the privilege of travelling all over Europe for her job.
She is more concerned about the shoes she wears than her job or the people in her life, I guess with the word stilletto in the title I should give
the book a bit of a break, The main character was irresponsible with her money, took advantage of her friends and family and in the end, very quickly ended up with the man of her dreams.
The book just ended it went from the character being in a dilemma to a year later and she is happily married and the book was over.
It's like the author had no real resolution and just gave up,
For me it was a train wreck, . . where you are drawn to the accident and need to see what happened, I kept on listening to see if it would get any better, It did not. It got me through clean floors, folding laundry and walking the dog, In the end it is a book about a self serving, unaware, entitled girl I would have called the character a women, however she never acted that way.
Twenty Three year old Sophie Farrier has everything a girl could want the perfect job, the perfect flat and the perfect set of friends.
As a travel writer, Sophie gets to fly around the world, meet new people, see new places and most importantly buy more shoes! When she is home her life speeds past in a blur of boozy nights, girly lunches and maxing her cards in her favourite shops.
There are only two problems in her otherwise blissful life dealing with the curse of being the clumsiest person alive, and the man she is obsessively in love with, Dan Shorely, already has a perfect girlfriend.
The one aspect of Sophie s life that is not perfect and never has been is her love life, After years of misunderstandings and missed opportunities, are things about to change Will she ever find and catch her perfect man Or will the dream of a happy ending and the dream man always be that.
. . just a dream.
