Access Hari Manawari (Tapat: Journal Ng Bagong Nobelang Filipino Tomo I-02) Conceived By German Villanueva Gervacio Displayed In Manuscript
a Filipino fantasy novel about a prince from a far away kingdom torn between two loves, And it uses the words "cool" and "electric train, " Go figure. "ManawariSana Mangyari"
Yes!
: The second issue of TAPAT Journal and it showcases this awesome fantasy Tagalog novel, Hari Manawari by the seemingly lowkey but talented author German Gervacio.
Why did I say lowkey Because I never heard of him prior to this book, This is one of the things I like about this journal, it introduces new writers and it also highlights or gives deeper insights on then books that I thought I read and understood.
Only to find out that I did not or I missed somethings and this book makes me want to read them again,
Just like the firstissues that I've so far read, this issue is divided into three parts:Hari ManawariSTARS is the story of a prince who is tasked to look for the owner of a handkerchief who is a mysterious lady he has seen once.
The plot is not original but the storytelling is tremendously funny, I am soon turningand I am too old to be entertained by fantasy story but this one made me laugh out loud several times that my wife could not sleepPagbabasa sa mga Nobela ni Jun Cruz ReyesSTARS is composed of three literary criticisms written by the three guys who are after this TAPAT journal.
Christopher Mitch C. Cerda took on Tutubi, Tutubi, 'Wag Kang Magpapahuli sa Batang Salbahe and I thought I missed most of the messages that Reyes wanted to convey.
Mark Benedict F. Lim discussed my favorite Reyes book, EtsaPuwera and it brought back the memories of the great reading days that I had while reading the book.
I particularly remembered fondly the statue of TanYan that transfers from one place to another and the memorable character of Rosa Kalabaw, Lastly, my friend Edgar Calabia Samar's illuminating piece on Ang Huling Dalagang Bukid at ang Authobiography na Mali: Isang Imbestigasyon, I thought that the book was just about the migration of Filipino women from the rural area to work as domestic workers abroad, I did not see the critical relevance of the authobiography because Jun Cruz Reyes was a character in his this novel, Thesegreat guys should write more of these pieces to help us all understand deeper the Tagalog novels that we readPagtatapat Bldg,: Genevieve L. AsenjoSTARS is a joy to read, The three gents interviewed Asenjo and asked not only about her works but also the writer's workshop held in Baguio, I've read and really liked Asenjo's first semierotic novel, Lumbay ng Dila and her naughtiness shows in the interview, Oh, I really want to guest her in one of our book discussions because reading her interview gave me the impression that she is not only brain literary chair at DLSU, my alma mater but also brawn and most importantly hot hehe.
She also talked about Cirilo Bautista, her mentor and she had all respect to the guy I did not know that Bautista is already old! and the way Asenjo looked up to Bautista made me want to go the the bookstore and buy and read all his books.
That's how this book really moved me, It made me laugh Hari Manawari, think and look back on the three wonderful Reyes' novels Panayamand feel interested on meeting a young lady writer Panayam.
What a book, Worth every minute that I spent on it, If you want to read a wellwritten Tagalog fantasy novel, if you are a Jun Cruz Reyes' fan or if you are wondering who Genevieve L, Asenjo is, go for this book, Malapit na malapit na ang ikalawang isyu ng Tapat!
