Good m/m romance about a gay DJ who has a crush on his straight cop roommate, In an attempt to get rid of his psycho girlfriend, the cop decides to pretend to be gay and the DJ's boyfriend and things get a bit complicated.
. . Rerated after review of ratings from uploaded personal ratings a couple of years ago, I thought I couldn't never find a Willa Okati's novel I can love much than In the Strangest Places, . . and now I have found The Name of the Game, It's an hard fight.
Clay is an old type guy who believe in love and forever, He is a very good guy, maybe average type: so at thirty years old he is still alone, . . and maybe he is still alone because he is in love with his roommate, Seth, unfotunately a straight guy,
But then Seth asks Clay to help him to break with his girlfriend, and what better than let her believe Seth is gay and Clay is his new lover But Seth start wondering how it will be stay with Clay for real.
. .
I love M/M romance and I love the sex scenes: this is one of the reasons I find In the Strangest Places so beautiful.
In this last book instead we have less sex and more feeling, It is the story of the journey of Clay to searching the true love and of Seth to discover what true love is, Seth first fall in love with Clay and then want to make sex with him: what romantic!
This is a very refreshng reading that will awaken your romantic side.
And I hope that Willa will deliver to us also the stories of Anthony, Michael wow! a collar, Adam, Jefferson and Taylor: Willa, you make me reconsider the speed dating thing.

sitelink amazon. com/dp Wish I could give half as I'd give it,considering I gave the sequeland I liked this better, just not enough for,
Clay lives with Seth who is straight but he loves him anyway, Just when he decides to try speed dating Seth proposes that he pretend to be gay to chase off his bitch of a girlfriend, Clays not sure but agrees because hed do anything for Seth, After a few kisses Seth starts to freak out as maybe he likes it, Anthony, Clays best friend figures in offering advice to both and even though Clay screws up at the end, they work through it and agree to try.
I like GFY books and this one worked quite well, I enjoyed both characters although I got a bit pissed off with Clay not wanting to “hurt” his girlfriend, This chick called his roommate and friend abominations of nature and was a bigoted bitch, why he thought she even deserved one shred of respect was beyond me.
Yeah yeah, youre a good guy but theres a line you have to draw, This novel was short and sweet, literally, It's the story of Clay, a gay man and Seth is his straight housemate, It's a GFY so you can figure how this plays out, By the way Seth is also a police officer I find it fascinating that in so many gfy novels the straight man is very often a police officer, or even a former police officer Anyway, I think the biggest problem that I had was that the story ended just when it was getting good.
I would have loved to see some of this relationship evolve, Especially since in the next story in this series, they are clearly very far beyond this and they are not the focus, But oh well. Heavy on the angst and secret longing, light on the sex

PROS:
Good portrayal of a relationship on the line between friendly and romantic, The guys are comfortable with each other, yet theres always an undercurrent of sexual tension,
The speed dating scenes are interesting and amusing at times in a horrifying, cantlookaway, train wreck sort of way,
Loved the scene when Clay gets drunk and Seth takes him home, The portrayal of Clays drunkenness is funny, and Seths actions are sweet and smack of devotion,
I like the character of Anthony: hes supportive yet a little lonely and sad, Theres a perfect setup here for him to have a book of his own,
CONS:
The sudden way that Seth realizes hes attracted to Clayespecially since hes never been attracted to another manstruck me as forced, But it IS sweet, and besides, I never find “straight”guyturnedgay stories very believable,
The sex scenes are tender and emotional and hot, but all they include is oral sex, This is not a problem in and of itself some couples never have anal sex at all, But Im halfway through this books sequel, Its How You Play the Game, and that book makes passing references to Seth and Clay having sexand to the fact that the one I didnt expect to be the bottom IS the bottom.
So Im disappointed now, particularly because I like reading sex scenes in which one guy is a virgin and experiences sex with a man for the first time with the guy hes in love with or WILL be in love with, and I didnt get to see that with Seth.
Overall comments: A pleasant little readfairly light, not very deep emotionally, but with a sweet romance, Not a lot of sex, and not very graphic, at that, Willa Okati is a talented writer but this book just didn't work for me, The characters seemed flat, the speed with which the straight man became curious and beyond just passed my credibility, Sure, he'd known the gay character for a long time, but there was no backstory of questioning or doubts, before the events in the book, The plot was abrupt and implausible, and I question whether any GFY character would be so comfortable having his first gay sex in semipublic locations, once with a known eavesdropper.
I kept wishing this book was about three times as long so the author could do these characters justice and bring them along at a plausible pace.
On the basis of "so many books, so little time" I would recommend skipping this one and reading one of Okati's really good books, perhaps Lovers, Dreamers, and Me.
Kind of strange beginning. Cute ending. Stereotypical homophobic exgirlfriend. Speed dating was funny. No fullon sex, minimal sex scenes, oops. . liked the first one. . meant the second story Anthony'snot as good, . this one was pretty good, actually, . but seemed typical straight roommate/gay roommate crush scenario, Seth's a gorgeous hunk of a cop, but offlimits to his roommate Clay, who's desperately trying to find a way to stop thinking about a man who's straight.
Seth's also dating Sophie, the bitchy, possessive, girlfriend from hell, so it's a moot point as far as
Clay is concerned, Seth is a good guy, a clean cop and a good friend, But when it comes to the girlfriend, he's not sure how to get her out of the picture, When Seth decides to dump Sophie by pretending to be gay, it's Clay he turns to for help in his game of deception, He's seen the way Clay looks at him, even though they've never made a big deal out if it, Surely Clay will help. Clay's been alone a good while, but with his friend Anthony pushing him into playing the dating game and helping Seth, Clay's relationship options suddenly go from zero to a full hand.
There's still only one man for Clay, and as Seth begins to discover just what it's like walking the other side of the line, the two men start to break all the rules.
Star Gay For You
I wanted to like this story as I really enjoyed the author's other GFY novel, Call Me in the Morning, The characters just never went deep enough for me to really get into it and the short storyline itself was a bit iffy, Maybe it's just me but I wanted more angst, more sex and more dynamic men, On the plus side, I thought the flamboyant roommate was fun,
Predictable but still enjoyable, One roommate is gay, the other is trying to get out of his suffocating relationship with a possessive woman and uses his friendship with his roommate to break things off in an unusual manner.
One thing leads to another and their friendship grows quickly into something more,
Overall, this was an easy read with one character exploring his sexuality, Unfortunately, it was a bit contrived at parts and quite predictable, but there was just enough turmoil, missed opportunities, and sex to keep it entertaining,
Out of four
Overall Read:
Sex Heat:
Plot:
Read this if you like An enjoyable read with a predictable plot and some tame sex thrown in!.
Other authors/books to try and why youll like them:
Andrew Grey: Love Means No Shame
Carol Lynne: Cattle Valley Series All Play amp No Work Cattle Valley Series Book
Both of these authors and series have strong plots and are enjoyable to read.
The sex is hot, but still “tame” and the main focus of each book, is on the relationship between the characters, I liked this story. Really looking forward to thend in the series, An entertaining book thest in a series of, I suggest reading thend book as well as one of the MC's in that book features in this book as a secondary character, Nothing too heavy and I'm glad they admits at the end they should have handled the exgirlfriend differently, This book would have been such a great "Gay for You" and overall M/M novel if it were only LONGER!!! Not only that, but I wish we saw the consummation scene between the two men as well : Willa Okati AKA Will, AKA Daniel is made of many things: imagination, coffee, stray cat hairs, daydreams, coffee, kitchen experimentation, a passion for winter weather, a little coffee, a whole lot of flowering plants and a lifelong love of storytelling.
Wills definitely one of the quiet ones you have to watch out for, though he not she any is a lot less quiet these days, Willa Okati AKA Will, AKA Daniel is made of many things: imagination, coffee, stray cat hairs, daydreams, coffee, kitchen experimentation, a passion for winter weather, a little coffee, a whole lot of flowering plants and a lifelong love of storytelling.
