Homecoming by Lorraine Nelson is the first of a few great things, Released July,by Breathless Press, this book is the first inspirational romantic suspense by Lorraine Nelson, It is also the first release in the new line Blessings by Breathless Press, Blessed Homecoming also happens to be the very first inspirational based romantic suspense book I have ever had the pleasure of reading and reviewing.
I am, as always, ecstatic to read and review another phenomenal book by Lorraine,
Honestly, I could go on forever, shouting accolades and praise for Lorrains talents! Every time I pick up one of her stories, I know without even reading the blurbthe book will be wonderful.
She has the ability to weave tales that make you fall in love with her characters and her writing, Her stories are like that cozy nook you curl up in to read and relax, made for you and always warm and welcoming.
Ive often found myself thinking Id been reading the words of a friend, telling me stories of her family and herself.
Realistic tidbits, almost as if they are part of her history with a twist here and there, I always enjoy virtually travelling to Canada with Lorraine, Who could ask for a better companion
Yes, this story of Wendy Danforth and Jake Roberts touches on and mentions God and faith.
Both of which seem to be in short supply around the world as of late, Dont get me wrong, Im not an expert on religion or God and I am not the first person anyone would ask about either of those subjects.
But, I do have my own views on faith and what it means to me, That should count for something, right For now, let me tell you about this wonderful book,
Blessed Homecoming is a clean, sweet, nonviolent, wholesome story that as Lorraine Nelson says “This is a book that mothers can share with their daughters and women can share with family and friends without worrying about content.
” I agree. Lorraine has combined a heartfelt story with just enough romantic suspense to keep even the antifaith/religion readers interested and loving it.
Honestly, it was different from what I normally read and it was a welcome, refreshing change, This book gave a sometimes pessimist like me, a few moments of pause and reflection on my own outlook, Isnt that what a great book should do
I LOVED these new characters Lorraine introduced us to, Their inner and outer turmoil were realistic and believable, Immediately, I was hooked into the drama of this family, Their individuality and their voices were strong and made this normally smutloving reader feel completely welcome in the Danforth story.
The Danforths love for their daughter was inspirational and even made me a bit jealous, Who doesnt want to have parents that love them unconditionally and always welcome them with open arms Wendys family was pictureperfect.
Jake Roberts was a man any woman would dream of falling in love with and his inner demons make him completely irresistible in my opinion.
The villain of this story resembled the many reallife, everyday villains many women have had the unfortunate opportunity to have cross their path.
Id love to hear more from all of them, The plot, characters, editing were all beautifully executed, All in all, it was a blessing for me to read this book, Stories like this make my job a lot easier,
Lets talk about what I feel is the main idea of this story: Faith
Faith is defined by the MerriamWebster dictionary as follows
.
a. : An allegiance to a duty or person,
b.: fidelity to ones promises. : sincerity of intentions
. a.: belief and trust in and loyalty to God, : belief in
the traditional doctrines of religion
b,: firm belief in something for which there is no proof
: complete trust
, :something that is believed especially with strong conviction
For everyone, faith means something different, Its an individual opinion, belief and way of life, Some people only believe in the things they can see, Others believe with their whole hearts in the unseen, There are those who have no faith in anything or anyone, There is no right or wrong when it comes to faith, you simply have it or you dont,
Blessed Homecoming pointed to faith in God quite often and everyone will notice that, But what I found to be the most inspirational were the inferences to the characters having faith in themselves, When these characters realized they could trust not only each other, but also themselves, they were able to embrace life with hearts full of happiness.
Shouldnt we all have that feeling Honestly, I believe we all should trust ourselves and have faith in our own worthiness and abilities.
Once you have that, it makes the rest a lot easier, Youre able to find all of the wonderful things in life whether they are sent by God if you believe or simply because you deserve them.
To me, having faith in general is one of the most amazing gifts you can give yourself and the world.
If you need an uplifting, amazingly real story with no fluff to brighten your day and inspire youBlessed Homecoming is a must read for you.
Love the lead female character and the Christian values this book is built on, Surprisingly good. free book for honest review, juliesbookreview. blogspot. com
Wendy Danforth goes back home to her parents after getting a divorce, Arriving home her parents find out the Wendy had neglected to mention they would be grandparents in the very near future.
Whilst Wendy settles back into her childhood home and prepares to become a mother herself she also has to contend with a drifter her parents have taken in to do odd jobs.
Is Jake taking advantage of her parents good nature, and what is he running from All becomes clear as Wendy finds her ex husband doesn't want to take the divorce lying down!
One thing I need to tell readers is that this is quite a Christian book with frequent references to God.
If you are not a believer like me or have a different religion this may not be for you, Although I have to say I did enjoy the story, yes there were a few parts that were just slightly too much of a coincidence, or the hand of God, depending or your beliefs, but sometimes you have to let these go, it is fiction.
I like the character of Wendy, you might think that moving home, pregnant with a failed marriage makes her a weak person but actually I think it took a lot of strength and she shows that.
Especially when when threatened by her exhusband, And Jake's character is also very interesting, he has lost his faith in God and tries very hard to keep his attraction to Wendy a secret, scared of reliving his past, and it does take quite a lot of the book for the full story to come out so I am trying not to give things away.
You might also be forgiven for thinking that this is a nice cosy romance and although to some extent it is, and I was definitely left with warm fuzzy feelings, there was also a good bit of drama and I was left wondering until quite late how Jake would decide he wanted to go on with his life.
A good readout ofstars
Petra Warmly real characters and a heartwarming plot from one of todays finest romance authors
Lorraine Nelson creates another unforgettable novel filled with people you wont soon forget nor the ways in which they triumph over adversity with her book BLESSED HOMECOMING.
When heroine Wendy Danforths world unexpectedly turns upside down, her spirit, faith and loving parentsnot to mention Jake Roberts, a gorgeous carpenter/boarder with his own painful secrets to healwill come together to make something better than each had on their own before.
This book is filled with tender moments, love and faith along with enough nailbiting moments to keep you turning pages to a satisfying conclusion.
There are many fine writers in the romance field today, but Lorraine Nelson, with her gift for understanding and portraying people and their ability to not give up on love, leads the pack.
If youve enjoyed Lorraines passionately memorable THUNDER CREEK series, this book wont disappoint, as she ups the sweet and gently adds tender warmth for heat.
A true keeper! sitelink weebly. compost/
Rather than a "love cures all" type story, this one seemed a lot more like love encouraged each one to grow and heal.
I especially liked the time where Wendy's baby was born and what all precipitated from it, The suspense plotline also wrapped up satisfyingly,
This is the second novel by Lorraine Nelson that I have read, and I think her writing is welldone and she tells a masterfully crafted romance.
A book with realistic and inspiring characters, Wendy and Jake have pasts that make it difficult for them to trust and love, Through faith in themselves, each other, and God, they are able to overcome these things
and find a love that fills a hole in their hearts.
This is a feel good story, so glad to have run across it, and will be reading more by Lorriane Nelson.
