I haven't read a book this good in a long time, This book was so good, I had a hard time putting this one down, I wanted to keep on reading day and night, A very good story line, Eerie story
Well written, Story about the beginnings of a serial killer, parts from his perspective, Not my usual genre and can't say I liked it but the writing was not bad at all, The Sitter starts out in the perspective of Stevie who is on a fishing trip with his baby sitter Larry, In the first chapter Larry drowns poor Stevie, and the story progresses from there, Most of this story is in Jeannie Conner's perspective the mother of Stevie, Jeannie deals with a lot of grief and anger over her sons death and can't shake the feeling that something isn't right with his "accidental" death, While looking into his death, and into the life of PoorLarryCutler her suspicion grows, While Jeannie is looking into Larry's life more and more strange and horrible occurrences are happening and all the fingers are pointing to Larry, However, it seems that Jeannie is the only one making these connections, and at some points she begins to question her sanity,
The Sitter changes perspectives between Larry Cutler, Jeannie Conner's, Steven Conner's, and Catherine Cutler, I think this helped a lot with finding out more and more with who the characters were, You never had to guess what was going on in their heads, and how each individual person was coping with their life,
Overall this book is well written, Not overly descriptive, with just enough dialogue, There is a lot of stuff that happens in this story and it will keep you wondering what will happen in the end,
Although this book had a lot of good qualities, this book was just not for me, To me the characters were not likeable, or enjoyable to read about, However, I did enjoy having the opportunity to read this book and other readers have liked this book,
Here's what others have said:
" The plot has twists and turns that kept me riveted and reading on, " P. Pruittreviewers made a similar statement
" The story is very well written and has excellent character development, " Carolreviewers made a similar statement
" The characters are so well defined, never were you left to wonder what made them tick, " Eh. I don't know how to explain the difference between an okay book and a really good one but this fell into the okay category for me, The character of the father and his gungho choice of sides if you will was too unbelievable and the protagonist wasn't fleshed out enough, I read the whole book, but was getting impatient for it to end aboutof the way through, I'm really on the fence about this book, There were parts that were so exciting and made me not want to put it down, and then there were parts of
the book that felt misplaced, The ending was rather abrupt, and certain plot lines weren't really resolved, so this is why I can't go more than a solidstars, Things were alluded to and then never mentioned again, . . kind of a book tease, Eerie
This book starts off slow, but then it really gets rolling, Larry is a psychotic teenager, So much so that when he starts killing he doesn't know when to stop,
I recommend that anyone who loves a good horror mystery combo read this book, You will not regret it I promise you,
If you have small kids it will make you really think about who your babysitter is! They are among us,
This one hit it right on the head, There are psychopaths among us, Scary story with weird characters who have those little idiocies that make them real, Well written and paced. Dont read alone. sigh . another mediocre horror novel. Nothing original here. Creepy babysitter. Husband who doesn't listen to his wife's suspicions, Bodies stacking up. Sinister church meetings. The church bit was totally uncalled for and unbelievable, Its only purpose was to set up the "surprise" ending, The book would have been much better without it, Here's hoping the next book is better, . . on to the next. Wonderful storyline beautiful imagery in the words, Very captivating and gory storytelling as in accord to the vicious trail of chaos PoorLarryCutler left! The ending truly justified the means, . . Very suspenseful
This book kept me interested and not knowing what the final outcome would be, Very well written. I enjoyed it. don't bother reading this book !! I read the beginning, . . and tried to keep reading but it was just so bad that I skipped to the end, . . Wow!!!!
GREAT book, If you're into murder amp mayhem, . . well look no further. Highly recommended. "Seven more words required. " This is the end. I didn't dislike this book but found it to drag, It almost seemed like a cycle of bad decisions being made and nobody broke out of the cycle, Truly gripping from the beginning, . no waiting for the horror to begin for it starts almost immediately!! WOW!!!
Nothing slow or boring about this book or the characters, . . especially Jeannie! She is extraordinarily strong, . . course she has to be to deal with such a tragic loss!

People often comment on a book by saying, 'I couldn't put this book down!' I read this novel all the way through, finishing it at:AM, I couldn't put it down, My quest these days is to write that sort of gripping novel, and in "The Sitter" I think I have done that, At the moment, I am at work on another horror type thriller and enjoying the process immensely, sitelink.
