Catch Full Ratchet (Silas Cade, #2) Authored By Mike Cooper Presented As File

Die Hard style, Silas Cade takes his atypical brand of "auditing" from Wall Street to Main Street

Fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher and Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp will want to add Silas Cade to their lineup.
Cade, the toughguy auditor antihero introduced in Clawback, employs a brand of financial reform that comes with plenty of firepower.
Needing a respite from Wall Street, Cade jumps at a job opportunity in western Pennsylvaniabut finds that Main Street is just as dirty.

The job seems easy enoughcheck out a Pittsburgh manufacturer and file a reportbut Cade quickly discovers corruption at every level.
His revelations catch the attentions of hairtrigger Russian mobsters and a blonde assassin named Harmony, Cades estranged brother is dragged into the fray as the tension builds to bulletriddled showdowns across defunct steel mills, forests, and Appalachian fracking fields.

Cooper again delivers a timely plot involving Wall Street greed, financial corruption, and the plight of bluecollar workers.

This story runs all over the place after an interesting start, Too bad. Lot's of gunfire, lots of chases, lots of bad

This was a GoodReads giveaway,

I often tense up when I hear that "accounting" is going to be paying me a visit.
Silas Cade is the accountant from Seal Teamthat you never want near you, let alone paying you a visit.
It is a wild, action packed ride from the first to the last page, I love the character.

This is a great story, The first Silas Cade book I have had the pleasure to read, I will be looking for his introductory story to see how the whole legend of the "accountant you never want looking at your books" got his start.
I expect his entire series to be part of a whole wild ride,

Have a GoodReads,
I received this book as part of the Goodreads giveaway program, Thanks!
I was about five pages into this book and was wondering how I was going to be able to finish it.
Bypages in I was wondering how I was going to be able to put it down.

The story is very over the top, There aren't too many management consultants/financial experts that would get management attention by gunfire, Overall, though, the pace of the story is great and the characters quite interesting, It's a book I enjoyed, If you are looking for a polished thriller, perhaps there are other authors you might want to try first, but if you are looking for an entertaining story, give this a shot.
Hes a CPA with a gun, . . and military training and all too willing to use both, With this premise, welcome to “Full Ratchet,” full of shoot em up, blow em up, knock em down action.
From Pennsylvania to West Virginia and back, its a hard hitting, . . wait a minute, Ive already done that bit, Im just so full of energy for Coopers second novel, its difficult to come back down,
Silas Cade is not your ordinary financial auditor who investigates company fraud, Hes the guy you call in when you need some serious juice, Former special operations, Cade gets in and finds what needs to be found by whatever means necessary.
In “Full Ratchet,” Cades latest job takes him to Pittsburgh to look into some hinky bookkeeping by a small company that makes seismic detectors.
Cade works his way through the company in short order to find the problem, but afterward is followed to his motel.
And his residence in Manhattan is broken into, Cade is now a target and to save himself, he has to find out the truth behind the curtain.
Russian mobsters and an attractive assassin, however, want a different outcome, Oh, and lets not forget one other issue with which Cade had to contend, . . his long lost brother.
Quick moving, fun characters, cynical humor make this a winner from the first page, Cooper doesnt mess around with throwing you face first into the action from the getgo, When the first chapter was over, I thought I was in for a breather, Not sorry to say, I was wrong, Its a bullet to the end, and left me breathless wanting more, Come on, Cooper, give me more Cade,

I was super excited to read this book after reading the first Silas Cage adventure.
This one wasnt as good as that one, but I still like this book a lot, I hope there is another Silas cage novel, and I would love to see these made into movies.
Full Ratchet: A Silas Cade Thiller is the second Silas Cade book by Mike Cooper, The “hook” of this series is that Silas is an accountant who uses his military background to even the score for financial malfeasance.
It seems like an interesting premise, and the book is wellwritten, but ultimately it does little else to distinguish itself in the crowded thriller field.

The major failing of Full Ratchet is a muddled plot where even at the end Im not entirely sure what they were fighting for or why they were fighting.
Silas is engaging enough as an action hero, but he doesnt really seem overly competent, as is shown later in the book when he partners up with Harmony, a woman hired to find him for murky reasons, who proves to be seemingly much better prepared, skilled, and financed than Silas.

A significant plot point is Silas meeting the brother he didnt know he had in a small town outside of Pittsburgh.
The meeting is part of Silass reason for taking a job that leads him to Pittsburgh, but both brothers seem to quickly become very reliant on each other and far too trusting.
Silass brother Dave is just too inconsistent of a character for me to like or trust him.
He makes a big deal about his “baby” a souped up race car that he only drives to race, but ends up driving around in somewhat out of necessity for most of the book with no reference to his earlier misgivings.
His treatment of his friends, even viewed through Silass somewhat forgiving eyes, is too unlikeable for him to be a sympathetic character.

Cooper does several things well in this book, The description of Pittsburgh as a contrast from major metropolis to rusting steel belt city, as well as his description of the more rural suburbs and surrounding countryside have an authentic and genuine feel to them.
The action scenes, gunfights and car chases are all exciting and wellpaced with the exception of one eyeroll inducing scene above a closed auto body shop.
The villains, however, dont really have a face to them, They are generic Russian thugs, one of whom is exceptionally tall and strong, but their motives or their employers motives are never sufficiently conveyed.
At least not in a way that identifies a clear path for Cade to counter,

The writing here is solid, but the plot is too muddled and the characterization, particularly of the secondary characters could have been stronger.
Full Ratchet is an interesting read, but it doesnt really motivate me to pick up more books in the series.
