Get Mine Angels Round About: Mormon Missionary Evacuation From Western Germany, 1939 Illustrated By Terry Montague Hardcover

read this book because my Grandfather Charles Jenkins Jr was one of these missionaries, He gave copies of this book to many family members, I wish I could remember more of Grandpa's stories, I loved hearing them and now after reading this I wish he was alive so that I could ask him questions and get more details from his own journey.
I do remember his trunk that traveled with his thru his time in Germany it was also on display at his funeral, After being evacuated from Germany and sent back

to the U, S. he served a mission in Canada where he met my Grandmother Fern Locking who is still alive as of today, It's funny how things work out,

This story is simple and doesn't go into much spiritual detail some detail, but not much but you can't help but see the Lords hand in aiding all these missionaries get out of the volitle circumstances that Germany had become.
What I find also touching his how some of the former missionaries had to fight in a war against the very people they taught the gospel, That would be so hard, War is such an ugly thing,

Good story and a quick read, very good and faith promoting, The Lord has a hand in all things, I love true stories and this was a nailbiter, This book was compiled from interviews, letters and journals from some of the eightyfive American Mormon missionaries serving in Germany as Hitler steamrolled toward neighboring Poland and all borders were quickly closing.
Realizing war was breathing down their necks, people were frantic to get out, Our missionaries were told to evacuate immediately, but for some, it turned into a nightmare, Their experiences were faithpromoting, inspiring, and I must admit, frightening, All eventually made it out but were heart broken to leave a people they'd grown to love so much, I loved this book, I loved hearing the faithpromoting stories of these missionaries who were evacuated from Germany injust days before Hitler invaded Poland and World War II started in Europe.
I just wish there was even more detail, At the beginning the author explained the difficulty associated with writing this book, She had heard about the experiences from one of the former West German missionaries in a fireside decades later and she decided to write a book about this.
She consequently interviewed all the missionaries that she could and read the mission records at the church archive, Because there were so many experiences to share she said it was hard to find a way to effectively write this book but with some help and motivation she finished this book and shared these amazing stories.
Im so glad she did, It was so touching to read these stories and to see the Lords hand in taking care of the missionaries, Very interesting story. My favorite part has to be when military intelligence was so impressed that Heber J, Grant knew Hitler was going to invade Poland before they did, Can't beat his Source. Very interesting account.
Caveat to mystar I don't know why exactly, but I am just fascinated by this story and keep reading it over and over, But it's not written exceptionally well nor free from typos, etc, This was a recommendation from a friend, This isn't a long book, but even so I was amazed at how much these missionaries had to go through to evacuate Germany in, This was no easy task for anyone involved, The author does a great job portraying the faith and love these missionaries had,
