Get Hold Of State Of Chaos (Collapse, #2) Fashioned By Summer Lane Available Through Digital Format

the first book in the series State of Emergency, this sequel captured my attention and held it all the way through to the end.

The story line picked up where the other left off and went in a new direction from running away from trouble to creating it.
The plot is original, yet still holds on to the key elements of the first, New characters are introduced, but the others remain,

This second book adds another dimension to the story of Cassidy Hart, while preserving the fast, exciting pace of the first.

If you've read State of Emergency, definitely read State of Chaos, If you haven't read either, please do so, You won't be disappointed. After being left hanging at the end of 'State of Emergency', I couldn't wait to read this, the second in the Collapse series.

An EMP has wiped out the US, and a shady organisation called Omega has started running the show, and in this instalment we get to see how they operate and it's frankly terrifying.
Stuck in the middle of all of this are our main characters Cassie and Chris,

I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say that this book is a non stop roller coaster, even more action packed than the first, and the main character Cassie has some heavy situations to deal with.
I ended the story with a huge lump in my throat and REALLY can't wait for the next book.

Well done Summer on another fab story, If you like YA post apocalyptic/dystopian novels then you won't be disappointed, Cassidy Hart has had better days,
Her dad is missing, Her friends have been captured, And modern society is pretty much gone, thanks to an EMP that destroyed the technological infrastructure of the United States.

Surviving in the foothills of California is a challenge, but with the help of former Navy SEAL Chris Young, Cassidy's been able to stay alive.

Until now. Omega, the shadow army arisen from the chaos, won't stop until every single survivor is either under their control or dead.
Taken by soldiers and forced into a labor camp, Cassidy must turn the tables on her captors.
Escape means everything. Unfortunately, staying out of Omega's crosshairs is easier said than done,
You can run.
But you can't hide,
Cassidy's about to learn that the hard way,

State of Chaos is the sequel to the national bestseller State of Emergency, a YA/NA Contemporary Romantic Adventure.
A great sequel to "State of Emergency" excellent adventure that is fast paced and exciting, character development is nicely done, I really liked it, even though the ending was a bit predictable, Can't wait for the next, review to come Genre: Young Adult Action,

State of Chaos does not make the crossover from young adult to new adult.
In spite of the characters's ages, there is a juvenile pretense to the read, In addition, the author relies heavily on quips and action to entertain the reader leaving the storyline very shallow.

The youthful tone is primarily due to the main character, Cassie, who's narration really hurts the book.
The side remarks were probably meant to be witty and add personality for me they were overused, offkey, and distracting.
Rather unfortunate considering Cassie has a significant amount of growth in the second half of the book that is likely underappreciated due to statements like "freaking Rambo is my boyfriend" and "weird on steroids".

The odd coupling of the main characters received lots of criticism after book one, the author crudely addresses this in State of Chaos as Cassie's friend points out the age and personality differences in Chris and Cassie to which Cassie replies "But we are the same too.
" Well there you go This writing strategy is habitual as dialogue is often wordy and annotating,

I'm not going to continue this series, it's not a good fit for me.
I feel no chemistry between any of the characters and I'm not into guerrilla warfare, to.

This is a very strong second book to a dystopian/postapocalyptic series.
The events in the beginning are quite mellow as our MCs try to form their plans to find their loved ones.
The story initially provides a general depiction of how two people adapt to the life after an apocalyptic EMP electromagnetic pulse attack.

Endless travel,
Scavenging.
General boredom.

“It sucks to be a survivor of an EMP, Theres nothing to do. ”

For a little while, Cassie and Chris find short moment of peace and rest but since its a state of emergency and general chaos, of course it doesnt last when Cassie is taken captive and becomes enslaved by the Omega soldiers the bad guys whose real identity is still in shadows and Cassie was sort of taken back to history and had to go through the ff.
for several weeks:

Concentration camp,
Torture.
Forced labor.
Humiliation particularly by wearing potato sack clothes and eating concrete bread and flavored water soup.

Its funny though that despite all these bad things, Cassie is still worried shed be arrested by fashion police.
Lol.
This particular attitude of the heroine is what made me feel very fond of this story.

Oh and speaking of history, the plot intensifies when a group of militia men enter the story to free the prisoners and implement guerilla war fighting tactics and guess who has become the leader of the free army

The hunter becomes the hunted as the militia men and women including Cassie led by the steady, reliable, confident, logical and lets not forget super hot Chris aim to create chaos upon the Omega.
Constant attacks and battles mean more adventure so yay! but less romance so bummer!,

What is good in the situation though is that while in many people such experience brought out the worst in them, our heroine learned or is forced to mature and grow up.
She used to be just a speck of nothing in the used to be big busy world but now she has a clearer purpose.

“Id never thought Id fit into a society like this, but life has a way of surprising you.
For the first time in my life, I actually feel like I belong somewhere, ”

Cassie, Im cheering for you and so is Pikachu!

That twist in the ending, Ive predicted it very early on in the story but Im not really bothered by that.
If anything, I was just elated when it already happened,

Defeating Omega is an impossible feat but the Freedom Fighters will keep fighting for freedom, for normalcy and for what they lost.
They will keep doing the right thing,

Engaging writing, Funny and witty narration in the midst of war and chaos, Strong, admirable heroine and smoking hot, perfectlicious hero, What more can you ask for!

And that concluding sort of persuasive speech by the heroine, more cheers for you, Cassie girl! Woohoo!

Book two picks upmonths after the EMP hit the United States, specifically the Los Angeles area that the characters know of for sure.
Chris and Cassidy are still staying under the radar of Omega, living as nomad's, constantly on the move to avoid being detected by them.
Where book one, State of Emergency, was filled with constant action, book two has sporadic action, slowing down in the middle a bit and then picks back up.

We are introduced to a few new characters in this book, some we like and some we really hate and some are mysterious and we aren't sure how to feel about them.

Cassidy depends heavily on Chris, For safety. For warmth. For companionship. She trusts him implicitly both for her life and her heart, But as far as New Adult books typically go, this one really is tame, Maybe that's why it's listed in Goodreads as both NA/YA There is little to no language and so far no mature situations have arisen.
Chris is,years older than Cassidy and she, beingwhen the series starts and stillin book two, is not ready to push their relationship any farther physically.
But her affection for him grows deeper as they only have each other to depend on.
She feels he is so far out of her league that if they had run into each other in any other setting than an apocalypse that he never would've given her the time of day.
Since the story is only told from the POV of Cassidy, the reader is left to wonder how Chris really feels about her.
His actions sure say he cares deeply for her but that's all we have to go on.

I really like how nothing is predictable about this story, Just who Omega is, and what countries are a part of the takeover of the United States is still very much in question.

Fans of movies and shows like Red Dawn and Revolution will enjoy this series!

Favorite Quotes:
It's kind of a summary of who Chris is as a person: Steady.
Reliable. Confident. Logical.

I was probably the only person in Los Angeles with an emergency gobag, a getaway car and a preplanned emergency rendezvous point when the EMP hit.

"He's got it bad for you," Sophia grins, I feel myself blushing. "The feeling's mutual. "

If anybody would have told me seven months ago that I would be spending my college years as a guerilla warfighter with freaking Rambo as my boyfriend, I would have said they were crazy.
But life is weird like that,

We can't give up, We have something worth fighting for, Our families, our homes, our freedom, Normalcy. Those things are precious. Priceless.

Final Ratingstars Three words, . . Romance, action, and adventure

The theme for these novels is a great one indeed.
A perfect dystopian novel if I have to say so myself, : Summer takes the reader to a world that we are all secretly afraid of in the backs of our mind.
The one where a foreign military
Get Hold Of State Of Chaos (Collapse, #2) Fashioned By Summer Lane Available Through Digital Format
takes over our beloved USA, Summers view on the now commonplace dystopian idea makes it even a more of a reality.

State Of Chaos is the second book in the Collapse Series, It picks up aboutmonths after State Of Emergency ended, Cassidy and Chris are trying to stay hidden from the Omega forces to avoid being arrested and shipped off to a death camp.
All the while looking for Chris's family and Cassidy's dad, But soon Cassidy finds herself in a work camp helping harvest food to feed the Omega forces.
This novel is about her rescue and Chris and Cassidy's working with the "Freedom Fighters" to take our country back.

Cassidy. It seems as if this female lead character happens to be the most real and vibrant fictional person I know.
She is so stubborn and sarcastic sometimes all I can do is shake my head, She loves Chris quietly and will do to anything to get back to her loved ones.
I was very proud of how far she came in the second book, And Chis. Ex Navy Seal, Chris . long hair, muscular, swoon worthy, Chris, OK that's all I have to say about Chris you get the picture! Oh yeah! And Chris Hemsworth should play Chris in the movie.
Just sayin'! : And I believe Summer agrees! :

Sometimes when you read a novel you just connect and for some reason I just connected with these.
I love Summers writing style, the characters, and the setting, It all makes for a wonderful series, If you haven't read State Of Emergency go get it now, Then you will be reaching for State Of Chaos, so just go ahead and get both! You will definitely not be disappointed.
