on The Power of a Praying Woman

like 'God's Word for the Single Believer' I don't really regard this as a book that i've 'read' but will perhaps continue to refer back to for the rest of my days.
It was about at page/that I realised that the best way to read this book was not to read each chapter sequentially instead this book requires life application, prayer and a heart that sincerely seeks change and spiritual growth through a closer walk with Jesus.
To get the best out of this book for me anyway, is to spend time in the relevant chapter at the point of need or spiritual prompting pen and paper at the ready too! You see, there are so many areas of ones life that are covered in this book, and the neat little index is like a spiritual AZ of areas where we all need spiritual refreshing, pruning or an outright overhaul! If you are already in a walk with God, you will hopefully be aware of areas in your life that God wants you to focus on, and commit to him in sincere prayer as such, this book is a really good study aid and reference point.
Apart from covering a broad range of development areas for your prayer life, it also contains some model prayers that you can work into your own prayer life as you diligently seek change and refreshing through the work of the Holy Spirit and for added measure, each section also contains a reminder of some of God's promises relating to the topic in focus.
An excellent book and guide, one which will not sit on my shelf and gather dust! As wives and mothers, our personal needs often get pushed to the back burnerhere's an easy way to move it front and center and get the support we all need.
As with "Power of a Praying Wife", the book is set up inchapters that can be read as a chapter a day for a month.

"In The Power of a Praying "RM" Woman, Stormie's deep knowledge of Scripture and candid examples of her own struggles and epiphanies in prayer provide reassuring guidance for those who seek a greater sense of God's presence in their lives.

Two words: completely amazing
It took me almost a month to finish this book because I honestly didn't want it to end.
Every chapter in every day was like my daily dose of fresh air, The perfect soul food to every woman who wants to live with more and more purpose all the days of her life.
Will definitely reread the prayers,.stars

I thought the first half was better than the second half, I loved that Omartian did nearly always point readers back to God, avoiding the selfhelp trap.

This was a very convicting, challenging read that I would recommend, with a few caveats:

There are Bible verses at the end of each chapter and I do think a few of them were taken out of context, though not necessarily enough to be super dangerous.

There was also a note specifically to single women in chapterthat appeared to say if you just love Jesus enough and put Him first, and keep praying, He'll give you all your desires including a husband.
I don't believe the idea that all married women must have been putting God first and single women are somehow lacking in spiritual maturity.
While the rest of the chapter makes it clear that married women also must put God first in their lives, this aside to singles made me cringe I think it's a dangerous, damaging message.
Very inspiring and motivating. Prayer is powerful in healing, Beautifully written!! Definitely a book to keep on your shelf and turn back to as you work on your prayer life and strengthen your faith.
Not just a one time read! I need I buy me a copy!!! This is a must read for every woman trying to grow in her faith.
It shows you the power of praying for yourself as well as others What an incredibly encouraging read! So important to pray for ourselves as well as others.
I have had a revelation reading this book that prayer unlocks everything God has for us.
He wants to give it to us but we must first humble ourselves to ask,

This might be on my 'read' shelf but this book will become a way of life for me.
I can't just read it and let it collect dust on the shelf,

Women of faith, you owe it to yourself to read this book! May God bless you.
. . I have sticky notes on all the prayer pages and I pray one every day, I have for a few years now,
I really like the format of this devotional, Most devotionals have only a single verse, and a page or two of commentary, This book haspage of verses, apage prayer, andpages of commentary, I found it had more substance and took aboutminutes to reach each day very reasonable.
If I could knock off half a star, I would for the times she mentions praying through depression.
While of course I agree its important to ask God to deliver you from depression, she should have also made a disclaimer to talk to a doctor or licensed therapist as well if you are experiencing depression or thoughts of self harm.
Quotes from this book:
“We will never be happy until we make God the source of our fulfillment and the answer to our longings.
He is the only one who should have power over our souls, ”
“It's not about finding ways to avoid God's judgment and feeling like a failure if you don't do everything perfectly.
It's about fully experiencing God's love and letting it perfect you, It's not about being somebody you are not, It's about becoming who you really are, ”

Chaptertitled Lord, move me into the purpose for which I was created the chapter title alone is a good prayer
Excerpt: “Each one of us has a purpose in the Lord.
But many of us dont realize that, And when we dont have an accurate understanding of our identity, we either strive to be like someone else or something were not.
We compare ourselves to others and feel as though we always fall short, When we dont become who we think were supposed to be, it makes us critical of ourselves and our lives.
It causes us to be insecure, oversensitive, judgmental, frustrated, and unfulfilled, We become selfabsorbed, constantly having to think about ourselves and what we should be, It forces us to try too hard to make life happen the way we think it is supposed to.
In the extreme, it makes us tell lies about ourselves and become dishonest about who we really are.
When you are around people who dont have any idea of what they are called to do, you sense their unrest, unfulfillment, anxiety, and lack of peace.

God doesnt want that for you, He wants you to have a clear vision for your life, He wants to reveal to you what your gifts and talents are and show you how to best develop them and use them for His glory.

“It doesnt seem fair that insecurity is sin, Thats like hitting someone when they are down, But insecurity is a lack of faith, and a lack of faith is sin, because it signifies a lack of trust in God.
” This book is amazing, it came to me at the right time, going through betrayal, loss and heartache.
I now know for sure the Lord will heal me and take me forward, I now know how to pray to reach God and I know there is a future for me.
Hi. I have started reading this book and then it turned out I have to translate it into my native language which made the experience with this book even MORE PERSONAL I hope now that it will get published in my native language my friends, family and many unknown to me women will be able to profit from the spiritual nourishment the author gets to provide to a female audience.
There is need for such spiritual advices, I really want to get copies of her other books: The Power of a Praying Husband Wife, etc.

After reading this one book, I feel more confident as a woman and know better who my enemy is I am ready to teach my sisters in Christ about this personal revelation by Stormie, I trust her, because she is of my own "species" and believe what she is teaching is worth digging in.
Many Thanks, Stormie. Love you!!! Originally ed For: sitelinkShauni's Faith

This book was hard for me to review because I don't usually review non fiction.
But when I was browsing through Netgalley title really captured my attention,

When I saw it I assumed it would share with me how my prayers could be answered but I also assumed it was about praying for others.
To my delight it was about how a woman of God needed to remember to pray for herself.
To stand firm in her faith and allow God to do the heavy lifting,

Women of all ages will find hope and purpose for their lives with The Power of a Praying Woman.

It shared a premise that we, as women of God, needed to pray for ourselves.
We aren't being selfish. . God expects it of us, He wants that relationship with us, It got me thinking about interacting with my friends and family, When do I share with them When do I ask for help When do I, . . yeah all the time. I don't limit my conversations with my family to talking about others, No I discuss my life, my hopes, my fears, my struggles and my joys, sitelinkStormie Omartian just helped me remember that God wants that too,

But it did more than point out the obvious, it offered a guideline, Ms Omartian took individual aspects of a woman's life and helped her direct a prayer for it.
Helped her focus and give direction to her prayers

This book was way more than a self help book or an instruction manual, it is a tool that can help women of all ages connect with God.
To strengthen the bond and help ferment a relationship that we all dream of,

I was thinking this might be a good book instead I found a wealth of information about my relationship with God.

This is not a one and done read, it will remain on my bookshelf as a tool and reminder for when I am struggling with prayer.

Thank you Stormie for this incredible book
