Because I'm a teacher, I always get excited when I manage to win a copy of a picture book, I was twice as excited today when I received "Giddyup Fairytale Cowgirl" because there are actually two separate books, One book is the story as written and illustrated by Kat Ford, The other is called "An Imagining Book" written and drawn by Kat Ford but to be colored and further illustrated by a child, What a wonderful idea!
The picture book is written to encourage girls to follow their dreams and imaginations, The pictures are bright, creative and contain photos that allow girls to imagine themselves in the story,
The "Imagining Book" loosely follows the story book but it is definitely for little girls to color and decorate as they choose, I've never come across another book that follows this format and I applaud the author,
There is also a website with a singalong and followup activities, I also received four buttons with pictures of some of the creatures from the book, Although she said it tookyears to put together the artwork for this story, I hope Ms, Ford will write another sooner than that!
