But when the time comes, will Amber be able to surrender her independence to the man who has captured her heart Well that was fun! ABNA Publisher's Weekly :
Amber, a strongwilled girl, is struck by tragedy when she loses her mother, the person shielding her from the world's cruelty.
Itsin Boston, Mass. , and the death of Amber's mom is not the only factor that threatens her stable life her father's secretive will puts her inheritance in jeopardy.
Afraid that her money will go to her envious and greedy uncle, she sails to England to find the thing that will save her future: an honorable husband with a suitable title.
Amber's luck takes an even a worse turn when her ship is attacked by Imperial Shadow, the infamous pirate ship, She finds herself at the mercy of the devilishly handsome captain, Logan, The refreshing character of Amber entices Logan, and he finds himself challenged by a girl who doesnt seem to appreciate his charms, The chemistry between the two is palpable, Gradually, their relationship takes interesting turns, and with every event both Amber and Logan, against their better judgment, discover that they are falling for each other.
Unanticipated revelations about the characters pasts, especially Logan's, are surprising, but the fast turn of events impedes experiencing the emotional depth of the novel.
Still, the author takes the reader with Amber on a sea adventure where her captor becomes her savior, I absolutely love every bit of it! Much different from any other story of its kind and surprisingly amazing, I'm very glad that I got a chance to read this : it's definitely one of my favorite novels ever! This was an entertaining and fastpaced read.
The story was filled with witty humor and just the right amount of romance, Enjoyable read. Really caught my attention quickly, This is a book that crossed my path by circumstances and I ended up throughly enjoying it,
I found the characters captivating and passionate, The main character Amber is a strong, independent women who speaks her mind, Its a great read and I cant wait to read it again one day, I got this book when it was being offered for free, Usually, I would never read a romantic novel, especially a period piece, It' just not my thing but I had just read Ms, West's other book, "Baking Bree" and loved it so
much, I wanted to read anything by this woman, So I downloaded it and amazingly to me, I loved it, It didn't really feel like a period piece as I was just caught up in the characters, I am eagerly awaiting more books from Ms, West and in the meantime, I am keeping up with her blog, Very surprised. Good lead and supporting characters, fun story and a steamy romance, Contrary to my usual taste I enjoyed this novel, I think my fondness was tied to the heroine, She met every challenge head on, There were some holes and inconsistencies in the plot but that did not completely detract from the books appeal, A good read but didn't completely hold my attention all the way through, Good ole bodice ripper with both pirates AND kittens, Absolutely loved it and all the great supporting characters, Highly recommended. So glad I picked this up, I'm a big fan of pirate adventure/romance books anyway so this really was a treat to read.
Lady Amber Townsend has unfortunately lost her mother and thought it's not a nice thing to think of she must follow what the Will states only her late father shares some unexpected details that she never knew of, that his willful daughter must marry well or lose it all to her cad of an Uncle.
Desperate for that not to happen she takes the first ship she can find to take her to England and find a suitable suitor to save the families Estate.
Thinking nothing of the fact she's on a Merchant vessel Amber settles in for a month of boring sailing, that is until it is captured by the dreaded Pirate Captain El Tigre.
A woman on a ship is seen as an unlucky thing but that's nothing compared to being on a Pirate ship,
This pirate adventure is set at a good pace and with it being mostly set at sea you would think how much could possibly happen but there's enough content and drama that I was never bored.
The main characters of Amber and Logan are vibrant and enigmatic who have great chemistry and dialogue, I was quite surprised at Logans's gentlemanly nature and you'd expect a Pirate to be crass but there's a reason for it which I won't reveal.
Overall I very much enjoyed this story but there were some points that irked me a little but didn't take away from the story.
. All of the crew came to love Amber and seamlessly excepted her which realistically wouldn't happen,
. Not much was mentioned of true pirate ways such as sickness, violence and brutality but it wasn't that type of tale to mention those things.
. I think there should have been some huge dramatic moment such as a death to a main character but that's probably just my dark sense of humor coming out.
Can't recommend this enough to readers of Historical romance and wish there was more from the auhor I got this book when it was offered free on amazon and I wouldn't have minded if I bought it at the original price.
This is my first time reading any of Sarah west book and I'm glad I took the chance, Its a bit different from what I usually read in a good way, Amber is an independent lady who is not afraid of protecting what's hers, I fell In love with the characters, they are funny caring and passionate, I can't wait to read more from this author, I highly recommend this book to any historical romance lover, I liked the story of this book, but the grammar and spelling mistakes were really bothersome, It's as if an editor never glanced at this book, I BOOKMARKED THIS ON A WIMP, LOOKING FOR A PIRATE ROMANCE WITH A HEADSTRONG HEROINE AND AN ALPHA HERO, . . GLAD TO SAY I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED AT ALL,
OUR HERO isn't all he makes himself to be, He's known as el Tigre but being a HR fan like myself, I know for sure there's more to him than just being a pirate/privateer.
When he attacks and raids a merchant ship, he didn't expect a well bred young woman aboard and found himself taking her as a captive of sorts.
Women are easy to a handsome man like himself, and he's the love em, leave em kind of rake, Perhaps it has been too easy for him, so he doesn't respect the women, Until, he met his match in a beautiful, brave and sharp tongued miss who turns his life upside down, Soon, he's catering to most of her whims, getting his heart racing with all the stunts she pulls and stirring his lust and heartstrings with her determination and spirit.
Heck, I was a little in awe of her myself, There is that push and pull chemistry between them that I enjoyed, loving every verbal sparring and scorching kiss they shared, Now, all he has to do is find a way to keep her and eliminate his long time nemesis for good,
OUR HEROINE has just lost her mother and to prevent her greedy, broke uncle from selling her home and heirlooms, she's bound to England to marry a lord.
Unfortunately, her plans were ruined when her ship was attacked by pirates and she became their unlikely captive/guest, She was a breath air of freshness, a rather modern kind of heroine for a pirate romance, What I like is that she aint no prude despite being a virgin, and she's got no qualms of working hard to earn her fare.
My favorite part was her becoming one of the crew, doing all the hard work of men, and vexing the Captain while she's at it.
She also learns how to sword fight and wrestle, learning things she never would have needed in a London drawing room,
OVERALL I loved the entire balance of romance, adventure and just the good feelings it brought me at the end, I truly recommend this for all types of romance readers, .
