Get Mad As Helen (River Road, #2) Authored By Susan McBride Presented As Document
book. Helen is just the type of heroine I like in my gentle mystery book based in a small town.
Shes kind and considerate, and fiercely loyal to those she cares about, Im looking forward to the next book in the series, out ofCopy for
Helen Evans is ayear old widow who granddaughter is caught with the murder weapon of her former employer.
She sets out to prove her granddaughter innocence despite that the victim was not like since she was going to publish a tell tale book about the small town people changing their names.
Also there been a rise of burglaries where there is no sign of break in and tell tale fingerprints.
Hidden valuables are stolen like the intruder is an inside person, Are these crimes related to the murder or just coincidental
Who will solve the case first Helen Evans or local Sheriff Biddle or will the combine to find the killer A fast read with an endearing older woman fighting for justice.
I love how Susan takes her readers right into the heart of River Bend, Illinois, a little town that seems to attract the most interesting crimes.
Helen Evans is a lifelong resident there, so naturally it worries her when things go wrong and she just can't seem to help getting involved, much to Sheriff Biddle's chagrin! The characters that populate Susan's stories are engaging and personable with my favorite being Helen herself, a character that Susan based in part on her beloved grandmother, Helen.
In this second book of the series, Helen is once again faced with a murder of a neighbor, but this time it's her granddaughter who is the main suspect in the case! It's up to Grandma to learn who the real culprit is!
The River Road Mystery series is a fresh and fun series that are just thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable.
Now that summer is nearly over and life slows down a bit, do yourself a favor and grab these books to savor with a nice cup of tea!
This makes two Helen books this week! The series is growing me and I am planning to continue reading.
I enjoy the characters, especially Sheriff Frank Biddle, I think that as the series goes on he will come to trust Helen more, In this outing, the peace and quiet of the town is disrupted by a series of breakins and a murder.
The reader can follow the clues as well as Helen, and perhaps solve the crime when she does.
This review is based on an ARC provided to me by the publisher, Helens granddaughter ,Nancy, is accused of murder when the local therapist is killed, She is writing a "fiction" story based on her clients from River Road, We meet up with all Helens friends and neighbors and Helen again guides the sheriff into catching the bad guys.
A nice series with an older sleuth and cast of characters, The series is picking up, A little stoggy still, but I'm starting to like some of the aspects better, Loved this cozy, and will read more of this author, Kept me guessing until the end, and a funny, suspenseful read, Loved Helen. . a great sleuth! This is book,

The title is more amusing than the story, A received a copy of this book for a honest review, Honestly I am so glad I got it, I could relate to this book in so many ways it was like reliving my childhood over again.
Set in a small town outside Chicago, where everyone knows everyones business but not their deep dark secrets.
The sheriff reminds you of every small town sheriff, who wants to do as little as possible, Helen herself, kept me in stitches in this book, But I kept invisioning her as Medea, lol. All the gossiping women meeting at the local coffee shop trying to get their hands on an unpublished book by an Author and the town shrink.
Helen's niece is implicated as the murder and Helen does everything without letting anyone get in her way to solve the crime.
You could not help but relate to one of the characters and you couldn't help being drawn in further to the murder mystery of a small town.
This book did not lack excitement, there wasn't any boring parts, it was very fast paced and then you were upset the book was over.
I highly recommend this book to those that enjoy laughing and having a great time with a book.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book, i was hooked after the first page,
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story, the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book, I just love smalltown settings in book, especially cozy mysteries,
I had a hunch who was doing the burglaries, based on a scent, butmy hunch was wrong.
Too bad one had to die in this setting tho she is not necessarily someone that people gravitate towrds.
Helen is like one of those old ladies who can't seem to get her nose out of little troubles.
Of course she won't because it is her granddaughter who is being linked to the murder,
A little dragging in some parts and not too excitable but overall, a fun read, Snuggle up for this quaint cozy!
Move over, Miss Marple! Helen of River Road has joined the geriatric sleuthing set! Helen must find the real killer when her granddaughter is accused of knocking off the cutthroat town psychologist just as her roman a clef threatens to expose a small town's biggest secrets.
Figured out whodunit early on, but still a good read, Love the play on words in the title with the main character's name, At times I thought Helen a little spry for her three quarter century age, but people are living longer, looking younger and having more abilities than they used to.
In this installment Helen is mad because her granddaughter is a suspect in the murder of her boss.
Helen plans on proving the sheriff wrong, her work is cut out for her because in the small town there is no shortage of suspects.
I'd read another by this author,In the second River Road Mystery from USA Today bestselling author Susan McBride, Helen Evans must find a killer before her granddaughter is arrested for murder!
