girl. Middle school read, but even us mid lifers will enjoy this fast read and it 'll bring back memories for some I'm certain.
I loved the poetry Natalia recites throughout the rough times just to stay afloat in her New Zealand life, stars: not the worst thing I've ever read, but I wouldn't recommend it or read it again,

Basically, I liked the fact that it was set in New Zealand and that when they listed place names, I knew where they were talking about.
Otherwise, it was pretty bad,

What didnt I like about it Well, there was nudity in the first ten pages, if that tells you anything.
It was just weird, you know, And the plot seemed to finally build up to this one big, characterdefining moment, and then it just dropped off, as if it hadnt even happened.
Which I didn't like. It was just a bad book, Not absolutely terrible, but not recommendable, Growing up in New Zealand following World War II, twelveyearold Natalia uses poetry to escape from her problems at home and at school.
