molto carina e scorrevole, poco impegnativa adatta a una giornata al mare sotto l'ombrellone,
Le Sigh, how far would you go for family Girl why is your daddy so trifling
Jemma was once happily married and is now widowed she is struggling with the idea that she must move on from her happy memories and the happy life she once had with the perfect man.
But as we all know nature doesn't allow for the young to mourn forever, Jemma is faced with so many challenges to her desire to remain numb to the world and then she escapes after being dealt another devastating blow.
She had one slip and she can't deal with that slip so she runs away and is faced with a new decision that she once again runs away from because she's not ready to let go.
But all things will come to light and the cushy life she's been leading is built on a lie and the decision she hid from comes back to life and it's all spiraling out of control.
I loved that Jemma was wary and knew her own mind, had some history and wasn't immediately blown away by Luke.
I loved that she wasn't an innocent woman who was down on her luck and wasn't on Luke's level.
I mean in the end he does kind of use his position to get her where he wants her and he even has a few moments of being a world class douche especially close to the end.
I was just so ready to freak out but he freaks out first and yeah, not totally redeemed because I'm not sure how much I believe Jemma when she comforts him, but yeah.
The back and forth between the two gave for an interesting read and was at times quite enjoyable.
The story moved quickly and I enjoyed the way the flowed together, Jackie writes great love scenes and wonderful female leads and I really enjoyed this glimpse into a love story.
This was a great break between my heavier paranormal reads, so I liked that I flew through it even more without having heavy character lists to keep up with.
Recommend if you're looking for a quick read and something light, Happy Reading. Pretty decent read but not something I'll remember forever,.stars
It is an ok read,,in comparison to other Jacqueline Baird's book,in comparison to other romance novels with similar theme,
There was one question that was left unanswered which usually doesn't happen in Jacqueline Baird's books as she crosses all her T's.
This JB book is a little different in that the h is not so much into the H as her hs usually are.
Shes a grieving widow but thats not the reason really, She acknowledges before long that her dead husbands no match for the H in and out of bed but still she holds her emotions and involvement in check and that rankles especially towards the end.
The H the usual controlling asshat as all her Hs doesnt surprise or disappoint! His smittenness and passion are quite obvious to the reader and the h.
So her coolness drags down the book,
But for that, the book is good and I enjoyed most of it, The beginning is a hoot with a light humorous tone but soon heats up with the H falling head over heels for her.
Decided to read some of Jacqueline Baird's books and I didn't realise that I've was actually reread it until I clicked it here on goodreads and it was already marked as 'read'.
I've always loved this book and I would still give itif I read it again without realising.
On second thought, you know what I frankly finished the book! It deserved a negative star, but I'll just have to settle for the one star option that is available!
original rant
When I say too many references to the ex for once, I mean the heroine's.
Hero was almost the second best,
However, he was STILL a douche, His pride being little dented is not an excuse for blackmailing someone to marry them,
I didn't buy his explanation of love, I felt it was his dented ego,
He also deliberately destroyed a jewellery that was dear to the heroine which was given by her dead husband.
That's not lover's jealousy, that's act of a cold blooded cruel asshat bully,
Also, he was celibate formonths then there was an attractive woman in his apartment and he realised he didn't have any inmonths so he might just well have it with for sex's sake By the sound of it, he wasn't even aroused, so what was the point
And it was ok for him to think abt the heroine while having sex with OW, but not for the heroine to have sex with him while thinking abt her husband
He took out a woman he had sexual relationship with WHILE being married to his wife and after walking out on her, and wonders why she didn't tell him about pregnancy
Not only that, in his mind he's saying this that "nothing has eased his need for Jemma.
In desperation he had taken Davina out Just for dinner", The same Davina he took just to show his apartment and then ended up just having sex, So what was he thinking of achieving taking out Davina JUST for dinner When he was aching for his wife What was he thinking would happen What is the reason behind taking a woman out to dinner while you're still married, divorce is not finalised, and you are aching for your wife When he fully knew she was an opportunist and was also after sex with him and was very blunt about it That line there is telling me, that he fully intended to have sex with her.
And now is refusing to admit to even himself now that he's standing in front of his pregnant wife.
If he was desperate to be distracted WHY does it have to be with a female companion Why not grab a few beer with couple of guys And pass out at your apartment Works much better than emotional cheating and the hangover is so much better than your spouse's distrust on you!
I hated the heroine.
I'm not even going to talk abt her, But I started reading the book hoping to like the hero and get angry on his behalf and it turns out he deserved everything he suffered and more.
The only thing positive about the book was that he doesn't actually rape his wife and is actually disgusted at himself for even attempting it, so he walked out and stayed away because of that.
Apart from that, an A grade bully, Jemma is a widow who really misses her beloved husband, Luke is the man she had a one night stand with after his death but before she was ready.
she still wears her wedding band, She fell into bed with him after a few glasses of wine and a really bad day, He finds out she is married and throws her out angrily because while he is a womanizing pig, he does not sleep with married women.
A year later her father had stolen money and she is blackmailed into marriage to Luke by Luke for repayment of the stolen money.
She had inherited a cottage that once belonged to his grandfather and the grandfather has been trying to buy it but the cottage is in a trust for Jemma's children and can not be sold.
I like that he finally comes around to his feelings and almost gushes in his willingness to do anything to keep her.
He can be quite romantic, Luke beneran enggak tertolong lagi, Dia cinta mati sama Jemma, Saya ketawa ngakak waktu tahu si playboy kupret bertekuk lutut sama si janda cool, Well, karakter Jemma yang realistis dan enggak gampang tergoda versus Luke si mata keranjang benerbener jenis interaksi yang menarik.
Salut deh sama mulutnya Jemma yang hobi menghajar ego Luke yang anti disenggol,
Sepanjang cerita, saya enggak sanggup skip halaman satu pun, Ini berarti pertanda bagus. Ceritanya emang bikin betah. Penjelasan kesalahpahaman mereka juga terkesan natural dan enggak memaksakan, Good job for author! Saya dipastikan bakal ngulang baca berkalikali sampai bosan, Widowed heroine spends one night with our hero, She was drunk and still grieving her beloved dead husband so she never wants to see him again, When Luke discovers that Jemmas father is in financial trouble and might go to jail he is willing to help them but only if Jemma agrees to a marriage of convenience.
For hero who used to be a playboy it is love at first sight but Jemma is still in love with the memory of her dead husband.
Hero feels hurt and betrayed but he is determined to not let go of her,
Very intense and angsty read, This author writes angst like no other thats why I love her work, Hero is so smitten and clearly adores his wife, He is totally dreamy. His love declaration is romantic and swoon worthy, He says things like: “You are my love, my passion, my lifeyou fill my eyes, you fill my heart, you fill my mind to the exclusion of all elseI dont deserve you Jemma but I love you madly and I always will.
” Poor guy he was really infatuated! Epilogue was adorable, We find out they had a baby boy and baby girl and a very satisfying HEA!
Hero has a one night stand with the heroine who was tipsy and hurting on what would have been her fourth wedding anniversary.
Hero thinks shes still married when in truth, she had been widowed for over a year, He kicks her out in disgust,
A year later the H/h meet up again when his grandfather is interested in buying the house in Greece that the heroine has just inherited.
Its tied up in a trust, and the heroine cant sell it, She can only have it if she marries and has children,
The hero devises a way Daddy was stealing from the shareholders and hero finds out to marry the heroine as payback for the emotional anguish he went through after his One Night Stand was only one night.
Heroine is livid, feels guilty about moving on, but she likes the sex, Hero is getting more desperate for the heroine to love him and forget her dead husband,
There are misunderstandings galore,
Hero was very forceful and handsy and sure of himself, until he finally experienced the pains of love.
The mighty fell hard in this one, "Have you any idea how long I've waited to break through your supercool control How much I've longed to reach you on a deeper level How often I lay in bed beside you sated with sex but knowing that you were keeping a wall between us, your deeper emotions locked away with your dead husband You can't begin to know what it did to me.
MeLuke Devetziwho never believed in love, ' He gave her a look of wry selfmockery, 'And I fell hopelessly in love with a woman who was locked in the memory of her past love.
"
Luke to Jemma
I totally fell in love with this one! While i havent read that many books by Baird,i love the all the

books i have read by her so far,"Guilty Passion" are by far my favourite by her,but this one still came close to it.
I felt for both the heroine and hero in this one, Lycurgus "Luke" Devetzi are a typical sexy, rich and disgustingly arrogant Greek Tyccon we all romantic readers love to hate.
Poor Luke was a besotted and intensely jealous hero and a irresistibly devoted husband towards his heroine, his wife Jemma Barnes,a gardener who loves flowers, and still loves her dead husband.
We read how Luke does everything to win her love, while she stubbornly refuses to commit herself.
I throughly enjoyed their angsty but delicious romance, How in the end Luke realized that he could never stop loving her,and so finally declares his love for her, whether she wanted it or not.
. . "sigh". .
Why stop at just one nightwhen he can buy so many more, . .
Greek multimillionaire Luke Devetzi will do anything to get Jemma Barnes back in his bed for a night of blazing passion.
When Luke discovers that Jemma's father is in financial trouble and in need of a loan, he is willing to pay it.
. . but only if Jemma agrees to become his convenient wife! "Bought by the Greek Tycoon" is the story of Jemma and Luke.
A good read with a widowed heroine and a jealous hero,
Hero and heroine have had a one night stand a year ago, after which the heroine runs away lying about her marital status.
Currently, the heroine owns the house the hero's grandfather desperately wants, The hero is ordered to court the heroine, but mixes her up with her stepsister, After some realizations and lies, he now begins chasing the heroine, using their mutual attraction as the tool, However, the heroine is still heavily hung up on her dead husband, and worships his shrine hence is dismissive of the hero.
We then have a super jealous hero who is like a petulant child, trying to get the heroine's attention and the heroine mooning over her dead ex.
There is hot sex, loads of OW/OM jealousy, blackmail, hidden pregnancy, confessions and a detailed epilogue, The heroine made the hero GROVEL, and definitely work to win her love because I genuinely think she didn't care for him in the first half of the book.
And the family beach conception made me chuckle!
