knows that her baby is her late husband's final gift to her, Her pregnancy couldn't be the result of one night when she tried to forget her grief, Rick's not convinced. He's not ready to give up on the prospect of being a father or of becoming more than just a friend to Becca.
And he has nine months to ensure Becca feels the same way, . . Rounded up from.stars

The book spent so long in Becca's fervent assertion of paternity that it left little room for a real romance to blossom or for familial strife and difficulties to be adequately resolved.
When a spouse dies I totally understand the level of grief and suffering that goes on having watched my own mother deal with the loss of my father a little over a year ago.
I can understand why Becca says and does things that might not make sense, but there was just too much focus on that that it left the last few chapters feeling rushed and inadequate.
Not enough about the family pulling together or her helping each child to grieve and not enough of Becca herself truly grieving either.

Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying I wanted more depressing moments in the book to make it feel real, but a better balance could have been struck between all the elements and characters included in the novel.
Only the two MCs had any depth and the only character I really liked was Rick, There just wasn't enough here for me to enjoy, I only felt moved by sadness for Rick who was at the mercy of Becca's behavior,

Overall, I would not reread this book nor recommend it to others, The subject, however, doesn't turn me off though, so I'd be willing to read another novel by a different author with the same theme.
It was an ok story, I think I couldn't get really into it because I'm not close to the ages of the leads, With two teenage sons, three cats and a dog, Carrie Weaver leads a full life! She loves to wind down by indulging in chocolate and reading a good book yes, the pages occasionally get smudged.
The books she writes reflect real life and real love, with all the ups, downs and emotion involved, She is honored to have been nominated for the prestigious RITA Award, the Booksellers Best Award and an RT BookClub ers Choice Award.
