Unlock Now Know Your Faith: In Defense Of The Catholic Truth Scripted By Tim Melliza SSP Released Through Publication

been a Catholic all my life, Years from now, I will die still as a Catholic, Some of my relatives and friends have jumped ship to other religions, Those who went abroad became Protestants, I have friends who are members of Iglesia ni Cristo or some other Christian groups, In fact, based on statistics, there are more Filipinos leaving the Catholic faith than the other way around, I remember a text book when I was in grade school during the late's saying that Philippines isCatholic andother religions.
Now, it isCatholic andother religions,

Sometimes, this question creeps into my mind: if I were really true to my faith, what have I done to defend it

Not that I am planning to debate and argue with my friends but when asked why I am a Catholic I should know why instead of probably saying that I was born Catholic because of my parents.
Most of the time, people have choices in life, I could have changed religion when I was in college when I enjoyed the company of my friends in their bornagain Christian community.
I could be tempted to change religion now since I am beginning to enjoy the company of my two INC friends.

But I choose to remain Catholic, Honestly I don't know. Maybe I am just too busy to

entertain the thought of changing religion, For what Why I can't think of any reason,

So, it is better to arm myself with the knowledge, Why Catholic What do we believe that makes us different from other religions There is some risks in writing thoughts about one's faith.
Religion, as history can attest, creates war among nations, races and families, It can strain relationships. So religion, just like politics, can be divisive and is not "safe" topic that can be discussed at any time, freely and openly.
So, I am taking the risk here but I will not be bookish, I will just honestly express myself by expounding the thoughts that came into my mind while reading this publication by St.
Paul's Bookstore SM Megamall.

In My Own Words
the challenging questions other religions ask us Catholics

, Who will be saved

Catholics are not saying that only Catholics will be saved, Everyone who is doing God's will will be saved, So, why become Catholic Really, not clear to me even after reading this publication, Hey, I am just being honest,

. Why do Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity

Because they are in the Bible, There is no mention of the term "Holy Trinity" anywhere in the Bible but there is God who created heaven and earth in Genesis.
There is Jesus in the New Testament, The three of them were there in the Jordan River with God the Father saying This is my beloved Son.
. .
and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, descending from the sky, Are they one God in three persons The Catholic Church, in the form of dogma, says so, Why not

. Did Jesus really rise from the dead

Jesus is the Son of God, Again, the Bible tells us so, If we believe in a way with the authenticity of early writings, if we enjoy folktales or stories that used to be told prior to the time that people learned to record them via writing or sketches on a cave walls, this publication says that the New Testament were recorded nearer to the events they happened unlike the ones of Plato, Aristotle, Thucydides and Caesar p.
. So better, believe what is written in the Bible particularly the New Testament,

Is the Bible the only source of salvation

Catholics say no, Sola Scriptura must go with Sola fide and good works I forgot the term for this other sola haha.
In other words, Catholics just don't read the Bible, we also live with it, Doing is better than preaching and of course a lot preferable than just reading, But I am not that type who flaunts my being a Catholic but I don't musk it either, I am just proud of my faith but I'd rather be in the background, Silently doing my share. So, you don't see me having my picture taken in the company of a cardinal, priest or in a religious gathering for photoop.

Is the God of the Old Testament a savior or a warrior

Both, God the Father also learned from the experience, I guess, What is more important is God in the New Testament, He is a learned God in the New Testament, My humble opinion though.

Do I believe in purgatory

Purgatory is not in the Bible so this is an invention of the Catholic Church.
I really don't care though, Just be good. Try to be good and hope that you land in Heaven when you die, If you happen to be put in purgatory, well you can't do anything about it anymore, Just hope that your loved ones back on earth, offer some prayers for you so you can finally make it to heaven.

Do I believe in limbo

This is not a Catholic teaching, So, I don't. This is folk Catholicism so the friars during the early days of Catholicism in the Philippines would collect money from Indios back then as they hurriedly arrange for their newborn infants to be baptized after they were born.

Can a sinful priest celebrate the sacraments effectively

Yes they can for all I care.
However, I still prefer my priest to live according to this vows: poverty, chastity and obedience, Basic, right If they cannot live up to any of these vows, they should live priesthood, Period.

There are my thoughts, As always, I am just expressing my thoughts based on what I read, Writing reviews here on Goodreads is my way to ventilate myself and break the monotony of my life, This is like my personal blog so excuse me if my thoughts go against yours, We can still be friends, right,
