book just destroyed me, Everyone was gone but the vampires, All our favorite characters. But there was a beautiful twist that made this all worthwhile, This was a wonderful series, I enjoyed every single minute of it, I could not put these books down, REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

If bookand that damn epilogue was crushing so was the first chapter of this book as Raymond spends his last days on earth.
These vampires really didnt think through what it would do to my sanity and theirs when they took wizards as their partners and said wizards didnt live for centuries!

Jean is broken and Ive got to tell you so was I!! Its funny how invested you can become in characters so that you are left a blubbering mess when you have to say goodbye.

years on and Jean is in no better a place, The only thing stopping him from stepping out into the sunlight is his promise to Raymond to carry on living.
Sadly he is not living in any sense of the word and it takes Sebastian to drag him out of his apartment every couple of days to feed to ensure he doesnt just wither away.

Sebastian has fared slightly better since he lost Thierry having started hunting again about a decade ago but he is nowhere near ready to move on and forget the love of his life or contemplate ever having another relationship.

Raphael is a fairly young wizard who has spent his life having dreams about a faceless vampire who is the one for him.
Every tried relationship has failed before it has even begun as he holds true to the belief that the other half of his soul is out there somewhere.
He spends his spare time stalking venues he knows the vampires congregate in in the hope of finding this mystery man.
His best friend Kylian doesnt believe in his friends soul mate theory but is always there as his wingman to keep him out of harms way.

There wouldnt be wizards without magic and this book is full of it, Old magic destined to help old hurts that may allow even older vampires to live again, If ever there was a way for an author to resolve a series and make me love her again this was it.
The heart break and desperation felt very real but then there was at least a little hope given as strange things started to happen and Raphael started to look into the past.

I wished we could have had a bit more of the story dedicated to Raphael and Jean, their story seemed a little rushed.
My only other wish would be that Orlando could have known, I really debated about reading this one, Finally I did. It was very interesting and not at all what I expected, I enjoyed it and thought the author did well coming full circle, My biggest complaint is a personal one in that I would have preferred to just learn about the events in the first part of the book instead of having to experience.
Basically I wish Raymond had been handled like Thierry,

Plenty of other reviews, Very solid, consistent series with some unique twists, Great characters and interesting world building, For fans of the genre this series is a must, but I would recommend it for nearly anyone except those with an aversion to M/M or vampires.
Read the spinoff series before reading the lastbooks in the main series for chronological order, A Partnership in Blood novel

All his life, wizard Raphael Tarayaud has dreamed of a vampirefirst as a friend, then as a lover.
His search for his missing soul mate brings him to the attention of Sebastien Noyer, one of his childhood heroes.
While Sebastien isn't his soul mate, he could be the perfect partner for Raphael's best friend Kylian Raffier,

As strange coincidences mount up, Raphael offers his research expertise to try and help Kylian and Sebastien understand what is happening to them, though the more he learns, the less he likes it.
But it wont keep him from fighting with everything he has to secure Kylians future,

When he finally meets Jean Bellaiche, former chef de la Cour and grieving widower, the meeting is disastrous, but Raphael can't let it go.
He doesnt stand a chance with Jeanwho could compete with the ghost of Raymond Payetbut nothing can stop him from dreaming.

This will be a hard review to write, Partly because I dont want this series to end, partly because I dont want to give away the plot, and partly because I was really not sure if I approved of the plot!

As we know, I have been reading and reviewing the whole series.
I am a HUGE fan of Raymond and Jean, and very much still in their world, since I finished the last book and went straight in to this one.
But the blurb had me very concerned, “Grieving widower” What the fuck did you do Ariel Why is Sebastien looking for a soul mate Who the hell are Raphael and Kylian I did not want to see this at all.
I have been chatting with Ariel on Facebook for a good portion of this process, and we really picked up going in to this one.
She asked me to trust her, and I tried so hard to do that, But.

Im not going to talk much about the plot, there just isnt anything that I can say that wont ruin it for someone.
Other than to say we get new characters that bring light and lightness to the series, in the form of Raphael and Kylian.
They are good characters, very young, and very different, They live in a different time, safer and relaxed, They are so good for the two old guys, I get it now. There are little sneaky surprises, you need to watch carefully or youll miss them, I thought I knew what was going on pretty early, and was happy it was confirmed as I went along.
I was able to let go of my fear and enjoy the story, Good things happen, and sad ones, I laughed and cried, A lot. I cursed Ariel a bit too! She is not allowed to write epilogues or prologues ever again!

There is a lot less sex in this book than in the others, and a simpler plot.
It is just focused on

the four men, its all internal drama and angst, We get very little about Paris as it is for them now, and that was really ok, When the couples do become physical, it was absolutely perfect, Just as it should be, There are glimpses of other characters, but not many, That may be my one complaint, I wanted to know what had happened with other people we have followed for so long.

So this is a very good book, A VERY good book! Even with a prologue that broke my damn heart, even with all of my concerns, it was perfect.
I should have just trusted Ariel to do the right thing with her characters, She loves these men too, I should have trusted her to treat them right,

I am sad its over, its been a fantastic ride! Im so glad I reread the whole series instead of just going straight in to this book.
It was a big commitment, but soooo worth it, I also enjoyed seeing Ariels talent improve over the five plus years of writing these, I think she was a good writer when she wrote the first one, but she has improved since then, I dont have the knowledge to explain how, but this book was very well written, It was a smaller story and more controlled, fewer characters and more focused, The last few have been that way, I enjoyed the chaos of the first four certainly, but they were busy, These last few have been focused on fewer characters and I liked that, Not that I didnt like the first ones!

Read them, Read them all, start at the beginning, and do it! Vampires and wizards, and werewolves, oh my!

Wow! What a fantastic conclusion to an utterly fantastic series, I cannot say enough good things about this book and about the series as a whole, You know me by now, and you know this is one of my alltime favorite series, So Im sure youre not surprised to hear that I absolutely loved this book, Id been waiting for it for a long time, and I have to admit I was a little worried that this book wouldnt live up to the rest of the series.
I shouldnt have been. Tachna takes us back into this amazing world she has created and gives us depth and emotion riding on a fantastic plot.
One that I didnt see coming,

First, I have to say that if you havent read the Partnership in Blood series and Perilous Partnership, then this book will mean nothing to you.
You have got to have the background and be invested in these character for this story to work, So run out and read them, if you havent already, and then pick this one up and devour it too.

This story started with the death of my favorite character, I knew it was coming, just by reading the blurb, and it still crushed me, I cried a bit. But it sets up the rest of the book so perfectly, I dont see how it could have begun any other way.
After that emotional beginning, we jump forward thirty years, Though its obviously way in the future, and essentially a century has passed since the first five books, Tachna doesnt give us a futuristic world.
I was perfectly fine with that, and I think that if she had, it would have detracted from the story.
Instead it has sort of a timeless feel that we can all recognize,

Read Kris review in its entirety sitelinkhere, So let me start of this review by saying I really did like this book was something that did bug me.

Okay so with this book you get Sebastien who is still feeling the loss of his partner, Well he meets Kylian at the bar one night and the moment he lays eyes on him he knows there is something special about him.
Well as much as I liked learning about them as a couple I thought it was too much them and not enough Jean and Raphael for me.
For a book with two couples to work for me I need more then a little part at the end to believe them as a couple and while what little bit I did get from them was awesome I was honestly a disappointed I didn't get to see more of them together.

So besides that some parts did drag for me little bit, While I liked getting to see these two vampires trying to deal with their loss and moving on I just can't help feeling a disappointed that there was not more of Jean and Raphael.
There was just something about Jean's character from the other books in this series that grabbed me and I wanted to see him happy with his new partner more then I did get.
But besides that I really loved how the author explained the spell and what happened with the souls of their previous partners.
I also loved the world this author built in this series,

So all together I really liked this book!
I would definitely recommend this series!
