very lovely message with unique illustrations Would be a fun read aloud for storytime, Simple. Colorful. Ends too soon, doesn't offer quite the full narrative that many picture books deliver, Delightful! A fun readaloud about kindness, sharing what you can, accepting what you get, and appreciating what you have, And I could relate about wanting to find a little moment of quiet I wish the cover illustration was a bit more vibrant most of the inside illustrations were more appealing to me and I hope it will not be passed over on the shelves as both my children really enjoyed it, too.
I've really been enjoying sitelinkChitra Soundar's books and will look for the other book featuring Farmer Falgu, The story reads like a folktale and reminded me of one of my favorites, The old Jewish tale, Too Much Noise, Very highly recommended. A bit like the Jewish folk tale of the crowded noisy house, with the rabbi's advice to bring in the animals if you don't know it, look it up! but with a twist that makes it even richer.
Wonderful OwnVoices from India, I am so glad that my mother's library system purchased the set of these, . . off to read the others, Wonderful book about finding your home after you leave it, The artwork is really cheerful and bright, which I loved, It might not be quite as intricate as some of the others picture books but its still really charming, This original picture books reads like a cumulative folk tale, Farmer Falgu has had enough of his noisy farm! He needs a break and he's off on a holiday, Craving some quiet, he gets on his cart and goes looking for silence, Does he find it
A great book to introduce sounds of the world to children, And of course beautifully Indian things such as bullock carts, pungis enhance the magic Adorable, Would be a great read aloud with a little dramatic inquiry thrown in for fun, A farmer leaves his noisy farm in search of peace and quiet, Cute, repetitive story with bright illustrations, I think this will be fun for toddler storytime lots of good noises to make together, and movements as well, Farmer Falgu gets fed up with the noise on his farm in this picturebook adventure from India, and sets out in his oxendrawn cart to find silence, Along the way he picks up an old man with a drum, a snake charmer, and a troupe of dancers, forgetting his desire for silence as he joins in their music.
When he is finally by himself, he compares the nighttime sounds to those at home, and realizes that the farm sounds happy, . .
The second picturebook I have read from author Chitra Soundar and illustrator Kanika Nair about this character the first was sitelinkFarmer Falgu Goes to the Market Farmer Falgu Goes on a Trip pairs an engaging story with appealing artwork.
I appreciated the thoughtful message here, about perspective, and learning to appreciate what we have even though it annoys us sometimes, and think the use of onomatopoeia could make this a good readaloud, in the right hands.
Recommended to anyone who has read and enjoyed other stories about Farmer Falgu, as well as to those looking for picturebooks with an Indian cultural setting, Great story and illustrations. Good readaloud fory/o, Farmer Falgu's farm is noisy, so he goes on a trip to find some silence, Along the way he meets some fun hitchhikers who draw him into their songs, The turnaround at the end where Farmer Falgu realizes that his farm's noise is a happy noise seemed abrupt and not exactly logical to me, but the ride was fun, with noises that listeners can join in on.
Farmer looking for quiet, takes his wagon on a trip, Picks up a man with a drum, a snake charmer with a flute, and a troupe of dancers, Finally finds quiet, but misses the sounds of home, So he returns there.
