Catch One Night (Only You, #1) Picturized By A.J. Pine Presented As File
this review and more at sitelinkkimberlyfaye reads,
One Night has been on my TBR for freaking ages, Truthfully, I'm actually embarrassed by how long it took me to get around to it, I enjoyed it, but it just wasn't quite love for me,
My biggest issue with One Night was that I struggled to connect with Jess, I can't pinpoint exactly why I didn't connect with her however, I didn't dislike her character, In fact, the longer the book went on the more I sympathized with her, Unfortunately, I also got a bit annoyed with her back and forth when it came to Adam.
Now Adam I loved me some Adam, He was so sweet and the way he cared for Jess made me swoon, Their friends to more romance was sweet,
One Night was a solid book, It was a quick read, I liked the romance, but missed the feels I think I'd have had if I truly connected with Jess.
Sadly, I did not. Now all that said, I'm really interested in Jess' roommate's book, so I did snag it from Amazon after finishing this one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration, This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review,
FAVORITE QUOTES
"You're beautiful and funny and smart and all of these things.
How could you think you're anything less"
Maybe we can seal some of the cracks for each other.
Maybe the next time we break, there will be fewer pieces to pick up, When she lost it all, Jess decided to cope by living a lie,
But you cant keep on pretending forever
Twentyoneyearold Jess used to have everythinga loyal best friend, a boyfriend she loved, and a future that was right on track.
But in a single night, her whole world changed,
Now, Jess lives for the impersonal connection of drunken hookups and togo coffee cups in the morning.
All she needs is one night to pretend everything is fineuntil she meets Adam,
Thanks to a sports injury, gorgeous, charming basketball star Adam Carson is stuck in physical therapy at the hospital where Jess internsgiving her the perfect opportunity to see his sweet, considerate nature and making her realize that maybe she does want something more.
But while Adam might be the best thing thats happened to Jess in a long time, letting him past her carefully constructed walls means letting him know what happened.
. . and why he'd never want her for more than one night, stars
An ARC was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
It's the first time I read a book by A.
J. Pine. Big, big, big first impression !!
One night was a captivating read.
I couldn't help falling in love with its characters, and really appreciated the quality of A, J. Pine's writing.
I couldn't put the book down, and suffered a huge book hangover afterwards,
Jess and Adam were so special, their story went straight to my heart,
"Be my future, Jess," he says when we break for air, "And let me be yours, We'll figure out the rest together, "
Jess' character really moved me, At times, I wanted to tell her everything would be okay, at others I just wanted to tell her to get a grip, but that's what made her character so realistic.
She was complex, and her emotions were beautifully and honestly described,
And Adam was so sweet insert swoon here, He also had to deal with issues of his own, and nevertheless was always there for Jess, trying to get to know her and help her.
"Jess", he says as he closes his eyes, How does he do that, turn my name against me
I would love to read this story from Adam's point of view, to know a little bit more about what exactly was on his mind during the whole story.
Special mention goes to Zoe for being one of the coolest supporting characters, and definitely the best roommate possible.
She was just perfect and also brought lightness to the story,
I won't miss A, J. Pine's next book in the series, One Life, where Jess and Adam will appear as background characters, cause I absolutely want to know what will happen to them next, and because I will be delighted to enjoy A.
J. Pine's beautiful writing again.
I was given a copy of this book for review, All thoughts are my own,
One Night brings us the story of two different people, Adam and Jess brought together by chance.
Adam is dealing with a loss of self in away and sees in Jess someone he wants to get to know.
Jess tries to be a loner, keeping to herself, never trying to find out about others, keeping mum on details about herself.
But slowly she starts to open up to not only her roommate but Adam as well, At first the three of them sort of find a joint ritual, The Vampire Diaries, and its sort of the catalyst that kicks off things changing direction for Jess.
The Banter between Adam and Jess pulled me in from the start and made me want to see them together.
I wanted Jess to confide in Adam and for her to see herself in a good light.
But Jess is struggling with guilt and selfblame and a loathing from past mistakes and therefore remains aloof to the sincere feelings of her friends.
It takes a lot of talking and working things out to get her to see what is in front of her face.
One Night is an amazing story that shows that though our choices shape us, they don't have to define us.
And also that sometimes the hardest but most important person to forgive is OURSELVES, Jess felt alone because she deemed herself unworthy of having someone feel for her and she struggled letting herself feel as well.
Adam brought the swoon and lightheartedness a lot during the book as he tried to be Jess' friend while also not denying he wanted more.
I found this story full of unexpected twists and though there were emotional moments, they just brought more love for the characters and what they were dealing with now and from the past.
.stars This is one of those books that I didn't want to put down, I stayed up late to finish and I don't regret it one bit, I'm such a fan of A, J's books. Adam well all I can say is if you're looking for a new book boyfriend, here he is.
Loved his character. His personality and the way he sticks by Jess through everything and won't give up on her.
Jess has some pretty serious things she needs to heal from and it's a battle, but with a wonderful supporting cast of characters, she's got the support she needs to get there.
Good guy hero who is pretty great,
The heroine though man I tried realllly hard to like her, She can't commit to the hero because of something in her past unfortunately we don't learn what that is until the/mark of the book.
I think the readers needed to know this info earlier because she is hard to like,
I like the author's voice and will def read another by her, but I had a hard time with this heroine.
coming It's books like this one that completely ruin me when it comes to men.
Because Adam Carson is the ultimate folks, Sigh. He's pretty much my dream guy, He not only plays basketball, but he enjoys watching The Vampire Diaries, is drop dead gorgeous and oh so very patient.
He really stole my heart which made me want to throttle Jess all the more for her shenanigans.
While Jess drove me a little crazy with her back and forth, I didn't overly dislike her character.
I felt for her. She has endured a very tragic event and because of it she has lost a lot of trust and stability that her life once used to have.
She copes by participating in drunken hook ups, becoming blissfully numb to the incredible loss she feels.
I was happy when her and Adam's paths crossed, as he is just the kind of guy she needs in her life.
She hasn't befriended many people, so watching her interact with him and her roommate Zoe was a big deal.
Still, she could be incredibly selfish but at least she owns up to that and tries to make things better.
Zoe calls her on that which is why I liked her character so much, She's quirky and a bit nerdy, but she's in Jess's corner and wants to have a friendship with her.
You already know how I feel about Adam from my opening paragraph, The guy is a trooper for putting up with Jess's crap and you have to give him kudos for sticking around when not many would.
He is dealing with an injury and my heart broke for him because he just wanted to play basketball.
He is realistic and knows this will be his last season but that doesn't make not playing any easier.
I did really enjoy how comfortable he was with Jess, The two definitely have sparks flying and every time she friend zoned him I wanted to scream in frustration.
I wanted them together and I wanted both of them to be happy, It's definitely not an easy road for them as Jess has some things in her life she needs to put to rest before she can truly move on with her life.
I ended up really enjoying this despite Jess's back and forth, I liked the storyline and watching these two fall for one another, Jess deserves happiness after everything she's gone through so I was happy when she finally decided to let Adam in.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Received a copy of this book via the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
blown away!
A, J. Has done it again. One Night was pure perfection!
I always know I'm going to fall in love with a book when A.
J. Pine is the author. Her writing style has me hooked line and sinker, Her ability to write sweet romance is mind blowing, And with One Night the H is the sweetest guy, It's not very often you have the heroine be thenight stand type, But with Jess, she is a broken mess who can only handlenight with somebody, Her past has shaped her into a person who doesn't believe in the happily ever after,
Adam Carson comes into the picture and changes things for Jess, He tries to break past her boundaries and wants to have a relationship with her, but she won't budge.
How long will he be able to just stay friends with her
One Night definitely has more angst than her other books, but it felt right.
It may have hurt my heart, but life isn't always rainbows and unicorns, This book left me with major FEELS, My heart was happy. It may have been a sad journey and when we find out what happened in Jess' past you really feel for her.
So if you're looking for a sweet romance with a little angst thrown in, this is definitely your kind of book! This book was originally reviewed on sitelinkThe Book Hookup.
I received an advance copy from the publisher, but that did not influence the reveiw
.
swoony This book was exactly what I needed, It was so up my alley and the romantic in me is so happy, Its a love story that spoke to my heart and made me fall in love right along side of Adam and Jess.
There was definitely a lot of push and pull, but it was done in

a way that was realistic and made their journey such a good one.
Jess and Adam both have baggage, and when they meet its as if there was a spark got ignited and pushed them both out of their funk.
Without even knowing it, they each gave the other a new outlook, Jess is definitely the one who was more resistant to give in, and she still needed to work through the event that changed her.
Adam has also had baggage, but he was in a place that was betterthank goodness because I would have cried if Adam gave up on her.
The romance was pretty special and it definitely gave my heart the flutters, Jess and Adam never planned to fall in love, but it was obvious they had something special from the moment their eyes connected.
Their rapport was easy, comforting, but went deeper as well, It gave the whole package, It was healing. But that is just one side of the romancethe other part is the physicalthe part where every touch is electric, every kiss is so consuming, and
It was perfection, written in a way that spoke to me,
The secondary characters in this story were top notch, Normally, in so many stories these characters grate on my nerves, but here Zoe, Zachs, Tracy and Regan all held a special role and I fell in love with all of them too.
YAY!
So what didnt work quite as well as the rest of the story for me This is nitty gritty It was Jesss personality in the beginning.
It just didnt jive with her character, its as if that part of the story was written before Jess was totally fleshed out.
I dont think she was a ladywhore, I would have rather her slept with a few men as a way that was a cry for help, not as this over confident woman that was just about sex, because that just wasnt her personality.
While it was supposed to be an act, it still didnt flow with her character, While she could have been promiscuous, I felt like she needed to have been written in a different way.
However, thankfully that cold act was dropped immediately and we got to know the softer Jess, the one that really was trying to be ok.
The ending was so good and I got to bask in the love and happiness.
What made it so perfect was that it wasnt perfect and there was still a lot of work to be done, but both Jess and Adam were on the same page.
I absolutely loved this evolution and the HEA was worth waiting for,
Would I rec this A huge puffy hearted YES! If you like swoony romance and amazing kisses this is a must for your TBR.
Happy reading!.
