When I received this book, I was a little concerned to find out it was bookof a series I always read these things in proper order and had not read all of the previous books.
I didn't need to worry because while it wasn't strictly a standalone, enough information was given about characters from previous books to make sense when we meet them in this book.

My Thoughts:

I felt that the dialog was well written in a very natural style, The Hero was wonderful. He was very mature in spite of his youth, and knew what he wanted in his life and he wanted our heroine as soon as he met her.
He wasn't afraid of love or marriage, This was simply refreshing. Our poor heroine however, has a real aversion to marriage, and very low selfesteem, Her first husband, because he was in love with another woman, verbally and emotionally abused her throughout their marriage, telling her that she is "deformed" and undesirable.
The author skillfully portrays the heroine's gradual blossoming under the Hero's gentle care and respect, There are no murders, kidnappings, woman in jeopardy, or dark villainy, This is just a warm hearted feelgood story,

I received this book free from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, Vivian, Lady Beresford is newly widowed and is eager to leave the home that brought her only misery and go to London and start to enjoy her life again.
Her dead husband abused her mentally and physically, telling her that he could not stand the sight of her and was in love with his mistress and wanted nothing to do with her.
Vivian travels to London with her friend Silvia, who has her own love story in this book,

Rupert, Earl of Stanstead is looking for love, His cousin, his parents, his friends all have found happiness in their marriages, He is young, onlyyears old, but inherited his title young and a responsible land owner, sits in the House of Lords and has the respect of his fellow peers.
He meets Vivian and knows almost instantly that she is the one for him, Now he just has to convince her, Vivian has no self confidence, she is afraid to make her self vulnerable to another man and her ex husband told her she was ugly and deformed.
She decides before she settles down in a home by herself in the country that she is going to have an affair with Rupert, thinking that is all she is entitled too.
Rupert has other plans.

Ella Quinn knows how to write a story that will keep you reading long into the night, Her characters are fascinating, funny, sweet and the love story is beautifully written with sensual scenes that are riveting, I loved this book and enjoy Ella's writing very much, Rupert is a sweet considerate old soul for a young Earl who knows what he wants and is determined to have Vivian as he patiently goes along with her requests with the expectation of winning her heart.
Poor Vivian was emotionally beat down by her nasty deceased husband the Earl of Beresford because he was resentful over their arranged marriage, Rupert diligently works to help Vivian overcome her self impression and blossom into the person he knew she could become, tender and troubled

When Rupert, the Earl of Stanstead, spies Vivian, the widowed Countess of Beresford, across the crowded ballroom, he cannot take his eyes off her.

Vivian, has fled to London to avoid the importuning of her husband's cousin, the new Lord Beresford, for her hand in marriage,
Her marriage had been such a disaster

that Vivian has determined to never remarry,
Belittled by him, Vivian is convinced that she is less than desirable and somehow deformed, It takes the careful courting and loving of Rupert for her to come into her own as a woman,
After a masquerade ball, where Vivian attends as Cleopatra and Rupert as Anthony, Vivian decides to enter into a clandestine affair with Him as her alter ego, Cleopatra.
Vivian is convinced that Rupert doesn't know her true identity, Rupert of course knows exactly who she is,
I must admit that this is where I am bemused by Vivian's thinking, How does she think Rupert will not find out who she is in the intimacy of their situation, Ah well, Makeup and a barely lit room can work wonders!
Marriage to Rupert though is another question, Adore him as Vivian does, she will not tie him to a woman who is older, less than perfect, and without the connections he needs, So by day Rupert courts her openly and by night he courts her lustily without letting on that he knows exactly who she is, Very exhausting!

The newest installment of Ella Quinn Marriage Game series did not disappoint, I must admit that I have not read any of the previous books, but it is my intent to go back and read the first six, In this novel we are introduced to Rupert, Lord Stanstead, and Vivian, Lady Beresford, Along with several supporting characters it is easy to get wrapped up in the store,

Rupert is being told that he is too young for marriage, After suffering a broken heart the previous season everyone expects him to wait a while, But Rupert knows that the woman for him is out there and he is determined to find her, When he is introduced to Lady Beresford he knows he has meet the one, but she is a widow and is very skittish, But he is patient and is willing to woo her until she realizes that he is the one meant for her,

Vivian has just come out of mourning, Her previous marriage has left a sour taste in her mouth and she is glad to be set free to pursue a life of her own, One where she is in charge and not made to feel inferior, She is determined to never marry again, much less let a man turn her head, But when Rupert starts courting her and she realizes that she could lose her heart to him she decides it is time to find that house in the country.
But as she falls deeper in love with him can she admit that she truly loves him And would he ever be willing to accept her faults

As Rupert tries to win Vivian's heart, Vivian is trying to find a new home.
But when another threatens their happiness they must cling to each other in order to find love and happiness, Great book. Great supporting characters with their own storylines as well, I definitely recommend it. .
