bodies go missing from the cemetery, Lincoln and the Ministry of Curiosities investigate, But not Charlie. As a housemaid at Lichfield Towers, she doesn't get involved in Ministry business,

Instead, she conducts investigations of her own, She searches for details about her real mother, and makes inquiries into Lincoln's background, What she learns has the power to destroy the fragile trust they've built, or bring them closer together,

As secrets are revealed, and investigations don't go as planned, Charlie finds her necromancy sucking her into a whirlpool filled with betrayal, lies and danger.
Characters are developing and gaining their own voices,
Still, Watchmaker's Daughter vibes,.stars
Soooooooo much better than the first, which was already amazing, so I can't even imagine how good the next is going to be.
Who can resist until November I want to know NOW how Charlie and Lincoln will deal with each other after everything that happened in this book.
Lincoln' s character was finally examined in depth and I loved discovering about his past and his feelings, . . turns out he is more human and passionate than how he appeared at first, I adore Charlie, who is not the usual inept heroine waiting for a chance to disobey the hero, get in trouble and then get rescued.
Of course she often disobeys Lincoln and ends up in trouble but always with a calculated risk and not for spite or in a childish way.
And then she usually manages to rescue herself, which makes her even tougher and cooler in my eyes, and in Lincoln's eyes, who, despites his protective streak, learns to let her have more freedom.

Their relationship is developing quite slowly for my tastes, but it's developing in such a smart and romantic way that I can't help wanting more.
.
wake me up when November comes! Lincoln's hot and cold is getting on my nerves, I enjoyed this one more than the first, though I didn't think that would be possible, I read it as though it was the end of the series, but I read somewhere that the author is making this anovel series I don't know, I'll be happy to read any upcoming story with these characters.

The Good
Once again, the characters did not disappoint, I like Charlie more and more, and I have to say I warmed to Fitzroy as well, His character's growth was the centerpiece in the story, He opens up more and more, but still keeps a bit of himself hidden which brings the main conflict, because even though there's once again a madman running amok,

the investigation felt more like a side story.
We learn a lot more about Lady Harcourt my spellcheck wants to rename her Courtyard, as well, but hopefully she'll shed her nice exterior, cruel interior thing she has going on,

The Bad
The bad guy, But since I viewed it as a secondary plot, it didn't bother me too much,

My hopes if the series continues
I really hope it will have more volumes.
And that we'll see Gordon again unlikely, but hey, Slow Burn I love Charlie and Lincoln, but its taking forever

I love the narrator and the story is brilliant, i love the historical elements and the culture of the way back in the time of your.
lol

No its brilliant, . . i just love c. j. archers books. not just this one, all of them, historical paranormal romance, i'm in More drama, more dead people, and more answers, Of course Charlie is getting herself into trouble again but that's half the fun of the story, I love the growing tension between herself and Lincoln, Cant wait to read the next book!,stars. Fantasy lite in the form of these paranormal stories set in Victorian times, They are not quite paranormal romance but the cases that themain characters have got involved in would be too simple to carry the book alone.
I personally think the author has got the balance about right, I know because I have a low threshold of tolerance for paranormal romance! sitelink

THAT ENDING THOUGH.

Oh I'm so happy, I need the next book now!!!!

to come tomorrow I'd give more but the plot drags and the female protagonist is grating on the nerves.
This is such a lovely mix of historical romance, mystery and paranormal, None outweigh the others but each complements and makes the story so much better! The characters are perfectly penned and come across as both fallible yet sympathetic and real.
The world building is the only area that is a bit weak, so if you are one who likes all the whys and hows behind the world and people, this series may be an experiment in frustration.
But, for me, Im thoroughly enjoying the series so far! I'm not overly comfortable with the romance considering violent Lincoln has been towards Charlie.

It's a decent book, I like the mystery, but the romance sets me on edge, Thank you to author by C, J. Archer for providing me with an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Her Majestys Necromancer is the second novel in C.
J. Archers brilliant Ministry of Curiosities series and certainly gives its predecessor a run for its money in excitement, exhilarating romance and addicting storyline! As impossible as it seems, this series just keeps getting better and better and is quite possibly the best paranormal historical I have ever read!

After falling head over heels in love with Charlie, Lincoln and the entire gang in The Last Necromancer, I was more than ready to dive straight back in as soon as possible, so its pretty much an understatement to say I devoured Her Majestys Necromancer as soon as I got my hands on it.
The incredible world C. J. Archer has created within its pages is so lush and inviting and endlessly addictive, I found it near impossible to put Her Majestys Necromancer down and found that I kept reading and reading adoring the storyline and characters.

Charlie Holloway has found a home for herself at Lichfield Towers under the employ of Lincoln Fitzroy and the Ministry.
She has a "family" in the form of Seth, Gus, Cook and even the reluctant Lincoln himself and is enjoying learning about her abilities as a necromancer, defense training with Lincoln and even her job as a maid in Lichfield.
Yet when it becomes apparent someone has been stealing bodies from the local cemetery, Charlie cant help but worm her way into Lincolns investigations, whilst doing her best to learn more about his own personal history.
As the two of them search for answers about what is going on, Charlie finds it harder and harder to deny her feelings for Lincoln and soon it becomes clear her medaling in his past has the power to bring them closer or tear them apart forever.
.

There is no doubt in my mind that this series is simply spectacular! I dont read a lot of historical, but when I do, its these kinds of novels that keep my going back for more.
Incredibly paced, well written and wonderfully described, Her Majestys Necromancer was exciting and electric and so addictive to read, Archers characters are so very likable from our heroine Charlie to those who also call Lichfield Towers home and bring such life to the story.

I really enjoy the forward moving storylines that have been in each novel so far and love seeing the characters lives continue to move forward whilst holding onto the same essence with each novel.
I love learning more about Charlie's history, her capabilities and what she can do as a necromancer, There's so much fun to be found in this novel, especially though Charlie's quick thinking wit and sharp tongue, Archer writes some really brilliant dialogue within this series, often between Charlie and Lincoln who have a sensational chemistry together.

I'm completely in love with our heroine Charlie, She is so strappy and fighting and I just adore everything about her, Archer writes her in such a manner that's she's impossible not to love with her likability, vulnerabilities and fierce determination.
I love the growth in her that we've already seen and like seeing her continue to develop, Charlie has such fire and life in her despite all she has been through and I have the utmost respect for her.
I love how much power and flair she brings to the story and as the main character there's no one I'd rather followCharlie just manages to be everything we need and I can only imagine what she'll do next she certainly manages to keep me on her toes!

Lincoln Fitzroy is a mysterious, calculating and beguiling individual.
He is still a real mystery to me despite two novels now under my belt, . . and I love it. I love him! Basically I think Archer outdoes herself with her characters and I can't compliment them enough, Lincoln can be best described as Charlie's love interest and somewhat reluctant partner in crime but he really is so much more as a powerful man of social standing and ability himself.
An investigator, Lincoln often finds that Charlie has managed to worm her way into his investigations despite his reluctance and plants herself in almost every aspect of his life.
He has been reluctant to care for Charlie, but it's quite clear he does deeply, and the hesitant way he begins to let her, and us as the reader, into his past and mind is wonderful, and addictive to watch unfold.

I want to be honest, . C. J Archer has me wholly invested in Charlie and Lincoln's romance in this series, As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of them individually, but together Charlie and Lincoln become all consuming and highly, highly addictive.
They have such a fantastic dynamic together that amps everything up, Seeing two people fall in love this way is one of the best ways if you ask me and Archer does this so well.
Charlie and Lincoln have such chemistry together that comes across during unexpected encounters and tender moments that see the two of them grow closer with Lincoln's walls coming down during these times and letting himself act on what he really feels and desires.

Her Majestys Necromancer easily gets better and better with the turn of every page and C, J. Archer offers many laugh inducing, smile drawing and endearing moments throughout the story, Offering new light into Charlie's heritage and Lincoln's history, Her Majestys Necromancer concludes in a manner that will have you gaping and praying the next instalment will be released sooner rather than later!

I highly enjoy this series and wouldn't hesitate to recommend with my whole heart and soul!

Loving this series! See review for book.
and those gripes apply:
, Lincoln is an ASS!
, Charlie has potential but it isn't shining through,

New gripes:
, Charlie is showing more of her belly around Lincoln and the ministry,
. She is okay with taking a demeaning position when she has the ability to do better for herself,
. The cattiness of females comes through particularly in reference to how they interact around men/Lincoln,

I still like the idea, The author does a good job of describing Victorian England, I feel like I know these characters and dislike most which is an accomplishment for any author,

I have bookready to go, though I may wait due to my frustration with the weakness displayed in the last book.
I will be reading it, I just feel like I need something to break up the, . I dont know what, stupidity of the mc, I feel like I need to eat red meat, or read an epic battle scene just to feel a little less pathetic.

Thanks for reading my comments, I hope these ramblings were helpful, as it felt cathartic for me, As always, good reading my friends! This is not a book about a Necromancer in service to a clandestine government agency in Victorian England.
It is a soap opera whose main character is an inexperiencedyear old girl who happens to be a Necromancer and her awkward relationship with her equally awkward and inexperienced much older boss.
The clandestine government agency is actually just a backdrop and their cases are merely a poor excuse to have these two interact.

The ending was, as others mentioned, nonexistent, Unless of course you read this book for the awkward romance aspect then I suppose this was a great ending with only a few unexplained deaths that neatly wrapped up their "case.
" However, I picked this series up to read about a Necromancer and dead ghouls and ghosts and other ghoulie fun stuff like that, not awkward romance.
I only bothered to read the second book with the hope that the characters would evolve and the cases would be more interesting than the first book.
While the characters managed to "evolve" toward each other, the story of everything outside of their two lives leaves much to be desired.

I won't be bothering with this series anymore, :
