Unlock Now Beasts And Savages Devised By Emma Woods Released Through Publication

is a refreshing take on an old topic, The characters are well written and the story is fantastic! It's a quick read and definitely a page turner, I highly recommend this book to anyone, even if you don't particularly enjoy the fantasy genre The book was a great read! Couldn't put it down! Can't wait for thend book! Beasts and Savages by Emma Woods is a YA/Fantasy novel and the first of the Beastly series.

It is a tale of women against men, The story starts out with Lea having to attend classes about changing but it isnt changing as in traditional puberty, The girls are given injections that transform them into something like werewolves, They grow sharp bristles on their hands and develop fangs,

When they reach a certain stage of development, they are told they have to hunt, Hunt, as in chasing down a boy, mating with him, then cutting out his heart to feed the baby that could be forming soon,

The boys come from a neighboring village to offer themselves as sacrifices, The boys are taught that to be caught by one of these girls is an honor, “I volunteered. Were taught that this is dying by the angels hand, a last moment of ecstasy before we ascend to heaven, I leave this world with honor in my name, ”

Lea didnt want to hunt or kill, She wanted to be a nurse, She planned to run away, knowing she would never be able to return,
Shes going through the motions of the hunt when she comes upon two boys, One of them knocks her unconscious and they drag her away, She wakes up in a basement but has no clue as to where she is,

She had never seen a boy before and the boys had never seen a girl yet each knew what the other was, They had heard but never actually seen,

What I found disturbing about the book is the fact that the women Beasts and men Savages are separated, It isnt explained why, how it happened, or what is physically separating them, What is evident is that the women are far more sophisticated, if not superior, to the men, The women have heat, electricity, schools, running water, and bicycles for transportation,

The men are far less outfitted, They live in rustic dwellings that have no heat other than woodburning stoves, no running water, and no source of transportation other than walking, They hunt for food and make their clothing from animal furs,

Lea soon finds out that other girls who were on the hunt were captured, too, She makes it her mission to escape with all of them, With the help of the two boys who captured her, she puts a plan into action,

The story is dark yet intriguing and exciting, There is a lot of action and more than a few surprises that kept the plot moving and me turning the pages,

This book earns four out of five because of several instances of wrong word usage and some parts were a bit convoluted.

Considering the theme of the book and some graphic violence, I would recommend that the reader be at leastyears of age,

ed for the Say What Book Club I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I'm not normally a fan of dystopian, postapocalyptic, or sciencefiction novels, and it's been a long time since this old gray head dove into a young adult novel, but dive in I did.
Once I got started, I couldn't wait to get back to it when life interrupted my reading, Woods has created a cast of believable characters in a curious world that's kind of hard to believe, Women have subjugated and segregated the men into a primitive existence and use them only for breeding purposes, The "savage" male who is hunted for purposes of mating is killed after serving his life's purpose, Male babies are turned over to the men female babies are raised in the women's society and guided into their role as hunters, killers, and hopefully producers of girl babies.
When young Lea Corre goes through the training, she rebels, planning to run away instead of mating with and killing her prey, She finds herself caught up in the men's revolt and has to decide what side she will fight for, This is a welltold story which might have gotten five, but occasional errors in usage were a bit distracting, In spite of those issues, I highly recommend this book, First, I'd like to thank the author for giving me a copy of her book in exchange for my honest review

At first I thought this book was a little strange.
A story revolving around womens menstrual cycles, . . BUT I quickly got sucked into the story and am quite disappointed to see that there is only a Kindle version of the second book available right now.
:/

It is very refreshing in a twisted way to read about women who wear the pants! That's right, the men are the little wimps being pushed around in this story!

When the women menstruate, they turn into vicious monsters and during the time of their transformations, they are very dangerous.
They either need to be locked up in a room until it passes or go on the hunt to find a male to mate and kill.
The only purpose of a male is procreation,

The main character, Lea, gets involved much deeper with the males than any other woman has, essentially bringing on a war between man and woman.
Beasts and Savages is set in an absorbing, well created fantasy world, in which men and women are divided, Women, or beasts, are the new rulers of the world, and the story focuses around Lea and her friends embarking on their first hunt, Lea is a strong protagonist, who draws the readers empathy, and I found myself routing for her throughout the book, The characters are painted well, and I found it impossible to read the book without loving, hating or feeling both love and hate towards all of them! The book is well paced and accelerates throughout, gradually increasing in speed until an enormous crescendo of action.
The book does spend a good deal of time introducing the characters and setting the scene, but I would strongly advise readers who are more into action books to continue reading, as there is a large amount in the second half which is well worth the wait.

The book is well written by an author with a clear talent for writing, and the cliffhanger ending has left me desperate for more.
I can see this being a hugely successful series, and would strongly urge everyone who is a fan of YA fiction to give it a go.
