I would argue that it had even less than that,
. I was so, so, so bored,
. I was constantly hit in the head with the “Im not like other girls” trope, If the hero wasnt commenting on it, then the heroine herself was,
. I was bored.
. I thought the character development was inconsistent,
. I thought the romantic relationship was oddly paced and uneven,
. Did I mention I was bored Because I really, really was, I was not invested in the characters, their romance, or the outcome of the story,
. There were faint very faint glimmers of feminism and female independence, but it was all ruined by the “not like other girls” bullshit.
Other than the heros mother and the heroines aunt, the other women in the story are pretty much painted as scheming, avaricious, cheats.
This story was drawn out, It was not a Christmas story, I did find it entertaining, The only way i can describe this is a soft erotic version of jane eyre ! Title is misleading: there is likechristmas in the story.
