This series is one of the best kept YA fantasy secrets that has been written over the pastyears, I have been a huge fan of this series from the beginning, and feel saddened that it is done, The final culmination of this ambitious, epic series ends with Lastland, The two immortal princes have been identified, and they have left a trail of death and loss, Kat has skillfully learned to use her abilities, and she needs to protect her home, Haven, With an army backing her, to lead a rebellion, will she make it to save her people in time With this author's amazing otherworldly storytelling, and addictive characters she shaped this story and this world into something unforgettable.
The structure, order and precision of the kingdoms and their military were crafted with such vivid clarity, I truly finished the series in awe, very satisfied with the ending, A. R. Ivanovich please don't let us wait too long for another amazing series, sitelinkBlog sitelinkTwitter sitelinkInstagram "It's not what comes easiest that makes us valuable, Katelyn, The wealth of our character is determined by what we push ourselves to become, "
As a note, an egalley of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review, This does not effect my opinions in any way,
Based on the previous three releases in the series, The War of Princes, we know what is set to come about in this fourth book.
Action, war, loss, love, adventure, heartbreak and twists at every corner, If theres one thing that longtime readers will have learned by now, it is that A, R. Ivanovich has many tricks up her sleeve to delight and shock her loyal fanbase,
Lastland is perhaps the best of the series and showcases Ivanovichs knack for world building, Following her familiar formula of excellence, A, R. is at her finest when weaving together plots, toying with your heart and allowing her characters to grow even further,
After the startling revelation that Prince Varion had died and placed himself elsewhere to recover, Carmines betrayal and Rune having been possessed/taken by one of Prince Raserions shadow creations, the war is brewing at an all time high.
And Lastland is set to shock us once more as Katelyn and Dylan search for Rune and Varions memories begin to come back to him fully,

This series is awesome, A bit dystopian and fantasy with some romance thrown in and a kick a main character that you fall in love with from the start sitelink com/
. Wow. Ive learned that with this series I cant trust my gut, and I should prepare for surprises, So I think I read this one on the edge of my seat, barely able to trust what I was feeling, But in the end It was worth it, I was wholly satisfied with the way events played out and how things added up, I had a lot of questions that I needed answers for in order to be satisfied, and I can honestly say that I got them all, I feel like I came away with a good understanding of how things got to this place in the world, why choices were made, and I could follow how they progressed.
Which is impressive given how fucked up Lastland is,
Im not sure Ill be able to really write much in this review, b/c I feel like little things could be inadvertent spoilers, you know I ended the book still in love with Katelyn, and actually super happy that we got a bit of her sass back in this one.
Im still in love with Rune, I loved some of the enemies to bromances we got, and the snark that happened there, So much inappropriate laughing.
I fucking BAWLED in this one, I was truly invested in some characters, I connected with them, and it was so hard to watch them go through the struggles of this book, The climax was crazy, but satisfying,
Yeah. I dont know. I just really enjoyed myself, I can totally see this being a series I reread in the future, This finale to the series is just as good as its predecessors, Honestly, I think its pretty amazing that a four book series could be so consistently wellpaced and writtenfor me there were no parts that dragged in any of the books.
As the final book, this one is the bigbang ending, and made me cry more than the others, There are twists and I worried about the fate of charactersafter four books you get pretty attached, and theyre so wellrounded and developed at this point you know them warts and all.
Sometimes I did stop and think, surely they didnt make it through that, but theyre heroes, and truthfully, right now I really need some heroic characters, I really like Kat and Runes relationship because its strong and its present, but not overwhelmingit doesnt consume the plot as there is so much more going on, but its still important.
I really highly recommend this series, and I just have to add that I am so grateful I discovered it after all of the books were out, because I would have gone bonkers waiting for the next one! What an ending! There are so many books that begin well, and then spiral downwards in the following books to a horrible end.
I was delightedly happy with this series' ending, Not only was the conflict successfully resolved, but the characters continued to develop, and the plot twists kept coming, I've hardly ever read a book with so many great plot twists,
I love that Kat was able to return to Haven and show off her power amp perseverance, Haven, the supposed utopia, became the deciding battle ground, Dylan finally grew up and quit being so selfabsorbed, Ruby gets her chance to shine tho I think her side could've been developed a bit more, Like, when did she discover her powers We get to learn the true history of the princes, and the characters who die, do so in a way that adds the perfect balance between mourning their loss, and making you agree they had to be killed off.
This series is a hidden gem of YA literature, on par with many bestsellers, I highly recommend it.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, And I honestly love this series!! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review,
The final book is here and it's better than ever, Katelyn, Dylan, Rune, and Kyle aka Prince Varion all face their obstacles in this final battle between the Northern Kingdom and the Western Kingdom, Heartbreaks, devastation, and losses are imminent in order to issue a verdict, I love that an epilogue was added to ensure closure with Carmine and her deeds, I was afraid that amidst the chaos and battles that Carmine would be forgotten and
not get her well deserved punishment, This book is a fitting close to a great series,
I'm so calm right now, I'm freaking myself out, I cried. This is my favorite Steampunk series, I love every thing about the books and of course, their characters, Now I have to say goodbye to all of it, to Kyle, Katelyn, Dylan, . . and oh my god, Rune Thayer!
This series deserves more recognition, I'm shooting gazillion
The plot is always well elaborated, the English is puuuurfect and you grow along with the characters, You see the changes in them as they embraced who they really are, let go of pain, moved on and faced their fates,
It has a happy ending but the deaths, the destructions and schemes that was needed to achieve that happy ending were heartwrecking, I did not want anyone, ANYONE to die, But ahh sigh, I've learnt a long time that for a book to be remembered and special, there will be death of someone close or a betrayer, sitelinkLastland chose the former and it wasn't just ONE death, I cried so bad when I learn that Rune is sick, then, . . the ending, ripped my heart and my soul, He shouldn't die, but it makes sense, And I can't believe that I felt pity for Rasarion when Katelyn was reading Varion's letter, Both princes had their fault but if only they talked, nothing would have happened, Cowardice, pride, lies and manipulation got in their ways to be able to reconcile, Hundreds years of war for nothing, for an accident, Holy gravity!
I want to say so much about Katelyn Beautiful, crazy, brave and badass Lodestone, She deserves her title, hands down, And Dylan, I would be more sad if he died but I feel sad for him, for his loss, and he deserves his title too Grins And of course, Rune Thayer, our favorite Dragoon, because of whom the whole story starts.
I would rain a thousand hells if something had happen to him, I bawl my eyes out when he was dead and Katelyn was yelling, pounding at his chest, That was the saddest scene I've read this year,
Oh, I even forgot about Carmine, the traitor, I hope she rots. Yeah! I don't pity her at all for causing Rune to be possessed by a Gateline,
It's always a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to characters you've being with for years, waiting for the next book and hope they are okay, With a heavy heart, I say goodbye to Rune Thayer, Katelyn Kestrel, Kyle Kiteman aka Varion Argent and Dylan Axton,
Thank you so much sitelinkA, R. Ivanovich for creating this beautiful world and beautiful characters, .
