Scan Haunting Charlie (Witches Of Palmetto Point #1) Authored By Wendy Wang Readable In Audio Books
fantasy and a good, fun, quick read, If you like Kim Harrison's THE HALLOWS series you might enjoy the WITCHES OF PALMETTO POINT, Love this author
I had selected this book from my Kindle Unlimited account and saw that I had previously read it and given it a five star rating but never written a review for it.
This author, Wendy Wang, merits a review, Her characters are lively and fun and the story moves at a good pace, If you like paranormal mysteries, give this author a try, I enjoyed this first book in the series, It seemed short. I read it on my Kindle reader, so that might have been part of it, It was entertaining. I am interested in reading more in the series, I thought this was going to be a lightweight chicklet ghost hunter psychic chick book but it was dark! And I liked it! I like the character introductions and look forward to making friends with all of them.
No spoilers here. Just read it. I've just downloaded the next book in the series, Did not finish. I noticed some editing issues near the beginning its “rein in”, not “reign in” and felt the characters and story line were not engaging.
There is something about ghosts that get me hooked every time, and this book got me hooked as soon as I opened it, This is a series I will continue reading.
I felt like I was in the book I drawn to it immediately, I would have appreciated content warnings for onpage sexual assault
I enjoyed this
book so much I read it in one sitting.
When found out that there arebooks in this series, I bought the whole series and I cant wait to read more of them.
This was a nice surprise, I definitely will read the next book in the series, Good Read
Was a good interesting read for my first time reading, the characters were pretty interesting and with me being a fan of the supernatural came across this first book due to being a prime member.
It'smore books in the series I'll be picking up eventually, Haunting Charlie is basically a ghost story, The heroes/main characters aren't overly fleshed out in this book the villains not at all but the glimpses we do get are interesting and they seem likeable.
Still, it wasn't bad for the first book in a series setup, It tends more toward cozy than hard core and was an easy/fun read that held my interest.
I really liked that the whole family worked together, Good read.
For those who want to know: For the most part, this is a clean read.
I think the author used the word a once or twice and there was a short, nongraphic "adult situation" at the end for a couple of pages.
This was such a fun read and I can't wait to dive in deeper into this family of witches! It really was creepier than I thought it would be and so far I am loving all the characters and family connections.
Could not put down!
I never seen to take the time to write reviews but felt compelled beyond reason to write this one.
Stumbled on this gen while home sick from work today, That's right! Today! I couldn't put this book down, The protagonist Charlie was relatable and I loved the supernatural storyline, It was terrific and I can't wait to read more by this author, I got this book free because I pay extra for the Amazon kindle, But you can get a free sample and see if you are as entranced by the story as I was.
I have it a shot thinking it might have cheesy moments but not at all, It was exciting! As I said, can't wait to read more! Already downloaded book number two! Perfect blend of paranormal and humor with a touch of scary.
. The main character is Charlie Payne who can see and hear spirits along with being an empath.
She comes from a family ones with gifts, . Charlie doesn't like to call herself a witch but her cousins who have big parts in the book have no problem calling themselves that.
On the outside they all live normal everyday lives, .
Charlie is a divorced mother of one who works at a call center, Her gift is the reason for her divorce, She has a big heart and loves her family and is very close to her cousins, They are the ones that convince her to go and try to find out what or who is haunting a southern mansion.
The owner Susan Tate would like to turn it into a BampB but knows with all the scary things that happen in the house that's not going to happen.
Charlie immediately feels a presence of evil on her arrival at the house along with tons of tortured souls.
Along with one evil ghost she also gets grief from Susan's son Jason who is a deputy sheriff and nonbeliever in all things paranormal.
This was a refreshing change from my normal reading and I am enjoying the series so far.
I did my review of the first three books under the three book bundle for bookstoLoved this book, will definitely go on to read the rest of the series.
If you like paranormal, love, family, witches, investigations you will love this book,
Charlie is just trying to get her life back together, not going into details, don't want to ruin it for you! and is having to face a lot of things at once.
She has a great supportive family and so far, it is definitely a family affair dealing with the things going on.
Take a chance on a really good start to a series, I think you'll be like me and continue on with the series.
While this was a quick read I didn't feel it was that much of a mystery or thriller.
: Fun easy read
This book reminded me of ghost whisperer, I was an easy and fairly a
Quick read that helped me get some momentum out of a reading g slump.
It kept me interested and wanting to know more, I enjoyed it Charlie uses her ability to see ghosts to help stop a spirit from the past continuing his murderous ways in the present.
Not a bad read. SPOILERS ahead Daphne informs her cousin Charlie about one of her clients, Susan who is having a ghost problem at her house.
Her son, Jason the deputy is a major skeptic and Charlie has to convince him her dreams of recent girls disappearances are not a "fake" psychic joke.
I liked his character, eventually, and hoping there is more in the next one, Could be so much better
I enjoy witches and supernatural stories, This story has so much potential, The author chose to focus on one person primarily, Charlie, a psychic/medium who “sees dead people.
” She is interesting, having gone through a divorce and agreeing that her ex gets primary custody of her son, struggling with her abilities.
She is part of a family with other special ladies, Thats one aspect I would have loved more of, Who are these women A whole story about the Kitchen Witch Cafe seems like it could be amazing.
Is it ever revealed who Charlies parents are, if they are/were gifted How far back do their powers go, and how did they come to discover and use them Also, some of the cousins gifts arent really described or pinpointed.
Maybe thats all for another book, but hints or thoughts about it would have been great,
The story itself was okay, I liked the way the author mixed the past evils with current missing women cases, The skepticism of the police officer was a good move, but it didnt take him that long to change his tune, which seemed quick.
The meeting with the ex seemed particularly odd to me,
The scenes at Charlies work were interesting, As I read the end, I wondered if the way she could help Helen could have been introduced earlier, something she thought about, rather than kind of a revelation at the end.
The editing was not great in this book, I kept noting things like missed words that were distracting,
Finally, the ending scene was suspenseful, but I kept wondering what the other people were doing while Charlie was saving herself.
I wanted to really love these characters, but there wasnt enough distinction between them, and there were quite a few of them.
So much potential. Just needed more polishing. The plot in Haunting Charlie is compelling, and I keep reading to see what will happen next which made me lose too much sleep last night.
But what I like most of all is the appealing protagonist, Charlie sees ghosts, and it's caused many problems for her, but she stays strong and keeps pushing back against anyone that tries to keep her down.
She's not a superhero, but a very sympathetic woman who helps people even though it's at great risk to her.
She's also a wonderful mother, Right up my alley
This book was a quick but fun read, I love stories involving magic, spirits and supernatural elements, I enjoyed the characters as well, I was looking for some books to read for Halloween, This one was offered by kindle unlimited, I had a slow start, and then I got into the book, and couldn't put it down.
I lost a lot of sleep over reading this book, This is a great paranormal "cozy" mystery, set in the area of Charleston, SC, The plot is tight, there is a good bit of character development, and only minor editing issues mostly cases of a comma placed inside a word instead of behind.
I look forward to reading the next in the series! This was cute, I just wish there was a little more to it, I'd still like to read the next one, I didn't really like the plot although the story seemed to be promising it was quite plain and dull, well, at least it is not written badly.
Fantastic!
I love ghost stories and this one did no disappoint! I have read a lot of ghost stories and have even lived some real ghost stories myself! This is my favorite series! I can't wait to read more! This one had the potential to be so good, which I think is why I was so frustrated by it.
The premise is awesome a reluctant psychic takes on a case to help pay the bills, only to find out that the woman she's working for has a skeptical cop for a son who's not afraid to do some background checks.
I was excited for some romance, some spooky scares, and, of course, a big battle between good and evil at the end of it all.
But, truthfully, I got none of those,
All of the characters in this, especially the cousins, are extremely similar to the point where they're forgettable.
They blend into one big mass, and there's pretty much nothing distinct about each character, Overall, the book just seems to repeat a lot, which led to me zoning out and having to completely start over and reread some chapters.
I also had issues with the guy who was supposed to be our main character's love interest, Jason.
Maybe he gets better as the series goes on, but, for the life of me, I couldn't tell the difference between him and Charlie's exhusband.
Both of them spend most of the novel thinking she was crazy and looking for ways to prove it.
Lastly, the "climax, " There was none. There was also no real ending, This is sometimes forgivable because this is a series and I understand that authors want to leave their readers hanging until the next novel, but I wasn't even enticed by the end of this.
I was just bored and thankful it was over,
Going into this, I was getting major Practical Magic and sitelinkDarcy Coates vibes, but I was disappointed pretty quickly.
If you're looking for good scares, a little bit of romance, and a good mystery, you're going to have to look elsewhere.
