Dan was more than happy to be the one to pick Erin up, He'd noticed her earlier and been drawn to her, As he walked her to her car, they witnessed a dog get hit by a car, As they work together to care for the dog, attraction simmers between them, They fall into bed together for a night of passion, but reality hits the next morning, Dan makes it clear that he doesn't do relationships and since Erin is leaving soon, they leave it at that,

But neither can forget the other, When Erin agrees to help her friend Chelsea in her investigation into the person blackmailing members of the Texas Cattleman's Club, she discovers that Dan is Chelsea's brother.
As the two work together to help Chelsea, they find themselves combining investigation with passion as the attraction burns between them,

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Dan and Erin, Besides the obvious physical attraction, it was clear that they liked each other, I loved their time together riding, taking care of Dan's many rescued animals, and just being together, As time goes on, Erin realizes that her feelings are more than a fling and that she wants more from Dan, A pregnancy scare brings home just how far apart they are, Dan likes being with Erin, and he's happier than he's been in a long time, But he doesn't believe in happyeverafters thanks to his mom's abandonment of the family, I ached for them both on Thanksgiving Day, as Dan witnesses Erin's joy at her friends' engagement and her happiness holding baby Faye, and realizes that he can't give her what she needs.
As his guilty feelings over hurting Erin begin to build, he distances himself emotionally, I liked Erin's strength as she left early for her new job as a way to end things with Dan quickly and cleanly, I hurt for them both as their unhappiness at being apart was obvious, I loved Chelsea's sneaky way of getting Dan to face his fears and realize the truth of his feelings, His big moment at the end was awesome, especially considering his strong and silent personality,

There is more progress on the search for the blackmailer known as Maverick, Though a couple of leads didn't work out, at the end there is one that looks quite promising, I am looking forward to the next and final book in this series and the resolution of the mystery, I'm always on a lookout for a Charlene Sands book on cowboys and seeing the cute cover picture of the book, I'd been waiting to read this book, but sadly it just didn't work for me.
Maybe it was me, but I just couldn't connect with either of the protagonists or the flow of the story, Something was very off in the book, Moreover, the title is misleading, The Texan doesn't take a wife at all throughout the book, In fact he doesn't do commitment or long time relationships, The book ends with a marriage proposal though,

From the moment Erin saw Dan she wanted to have sex with him, She gets an opportunity when the stray dog is injured and they get take the dog to Dan's ranch, where the two of them fall into bed, But, since Dan doesn't do long term relationships, it ends up as a one night stand between them until Erin is invited by Chelsea who, she doesn't know, is Dan's sister to help her investigate who Maverick is because he violated her privacy by taking nude pictures of her in the club's locker room and posted them on Skinterest.
Chelsea has asked Dan to help too and so Erin and Dan meet and fall into sex again, which kind of forms a pattern for pretty much twothirds of the book they meet for something then fall into sex.
I have no issue with sex in a story, but I felt the sex here was only an act and came across too casual for my liking, It was lacking in passion and chemistry,

It was only toward Thanksgiving, when Erin begins to suspect she's pregnant which turns out to be false and also knows she's fallen for Dan, that it started get a bit intense.
I liked the entire Thanksgiving part though Chelsea roping Erin into making pies and cookies with her and Will Brady proposing to Amberley, However, seeing Erin's envious expression of the proposal, Dan thinks he should pull back because he couldn't give her what she wanted, It's only after Erin leaves and he misses her that he realizes he loves her,

I liked Chelsea a lot and I'm assuming there'll be a book on her, Looking forward to it, as well as to the revelation of this Maverick, It's been stretched for far too long,

I've added an extra star because of the author and also for the cover, A fall off a mechanical bull brings Erin Sinclair and Dan Hunt together, But it's working together

while trying to find Maverick, the person responsible for distributing inappropriate pictures of members of the Texas Cattlemen's Club, is when things really heat up.
Erin knows she shouldn't fall for Dan as she plans on going back to her life in Seattle soon, And it becomes even more difficult as she spends more time with Dan,

Dan hasn't found a woman who sparked his interest in a long time and Erin has just broke that dry spell and it left him feeling conflicted.
Dan didn't do long term relationships, but being with Erin is making him want to change his ways, When Erin is needed at her new job in Seattle sooner than she expected, Dan doesn't take the news very well, When he sets his goal to get Erin back, nothing will stop him,

I wasnt ready to say goodbye to Erin and Dan when the story ended, I wish the book was longer, But I am sure we will hear more about them in the next book, The way they met was fun and unexpected, I would have been totally embarrassed falling off the mechanical bull and wouldnt be able to face anyone afterwards, But it was a great introduction for them and even more interesting once Erin found out Dan was her friends brother, The story moved along quickly but didnt miss any details, I was especially happy to see Dan was an animal rescuer, I knew he was going to be one of the good guys when he helped the injured dog after getting hit by a car, This is a good book for anyone who loves cowboys, animals and hot romance, Once again childhood trauma screws with a grown adults love, heart, fear and a mixed up idea of why not to open his heart,
Closing in on Maverick Hope the last book nails him, Also where is Chelseas happy ending
Dan deserved a love so true, We have made it to the next to last of this series, . . Will we get a clue as to who Maverick is This time we are following Erin's story, If you remember she was Will's nanny til he met Amberely and fell in love, . Erin is at a bar when she makes eyes with a handsome Texan, . . She is trying to do something she never would so she gets on the mechanical bull where she falls off, . when she opens her eyes there is Dan, He picks her up and carries her out of the bar, . when outside they see a dog get run over by a car, . they go to help him and end up spending time together, . the sparks are fast and furious between them, Dan doesn't want a relationship and Erin is just there til the end of the year, . . But the more time they are together they more the fall for each other, Erin leaves early for her job but both are miserable, . . Can they come together and be a happy couple A really good book, . . It is said that they have a lead on Maverick so coming next month we should find out who that is!,
