One Day, A body dumped in your front yard, A breathing body. A living one.
As Jay and his mother try to figure out what to do with the obviously injured boy dumped in their yard, a connection is forming, a connection that is going to change the course of their lives because it takes less than one day to change your life forever.
Sasha has no idea why Jay cant leave him alone but getting to feel loved was something he never thought would happen for him, Now the question is can Sasha turn his life around and be who Jay wants him to be And does he even dare to be who he wants to be
I felt numb after reading this one.
This was a difficult one to read but despite the pain, I somehow still couldnt let go of the book and read it almost continuously till the end.
This book is one that improves as it gets further along, Initially, when I started the book, the characterisation of Jay felt a bit unnatural, he seemed, acted and behaved innocently in situations of which he shouldnt have been innocent of, but I feel like this is a bit of a deliberate misguide.
For you see when the story starts off Jay is only fifteen but he thinks of himself as almost sixteen so I kind of thought of him as a sixteenyearold in my head.
God knows why but sixteen seems way bigger than fifteen, bigger than the one year difference would imply, In hindsight, Jays behaviour makes sense but initially, I really couldnt believe the fact that he was as innocent as he claimed to be,
One of the biggest problems I had with this book which was thankfully only confined to the beginning of the book was Jays statements of Sasha not being a victim, like, oh he was no victim.
I felt like the way the sentence is framed makes it appear like being a victim is a bad thing and that just had me very wary because it seemed to come really close to victim blaming.
Either because Jay is really immature in the beginning and he does grow up towards the end, these statements don't find any place later in the book.
Sasha is a much easier character to love, He is troubled. He is homeless, addicted and soliciting to fund his addiction but for reasons unknown I got him, I got who he was and why he was the way he was and even when he went back, I could never find a fault in his character.
He just spoke to me, While Jay, on the other hand, took some getting used to, he starts off as really immature and naïve but I liked his characters journey and it was nice to see him grow and really flourish.
One of the best things about Jay would have to be the fact that he never gave up on Sasha no matter what he did and I felt like something like that is probably the strongest thing to help you heal even though you eventually have to realise that you need to fight this fight for nobody but you.
The way this story is written makes for a very compelling read, I read this book in stretches stopping only for work because I found myself invested in Sasha from the very beginning, I really cant understand the almost instantaneous connection that Jay forms with Sasha which is the catalyst for all the events in this story but somehow it still makes sense in context with the story.
I was really invested in these two characters by the end of the story because reading that epilogue imparted a sense of peace to me,
I feel like this is a very worthwhile read even if it gets too painful at times, it leaves you with a sense of peace.

Harrowing. Thats one word to describe this fascinating, heartbreaking and heartwarming story of two teenagers from the wrong side of London, It is not a great work of literature, but it is a great piece of contemporary storytelling, looking at a side of gay teenage life that most of us never consider.
Philip Roth in his fascinating novel “The Plot Against America,” used his own name, and those of his parents and brother, in a largely fictitious setting.
It seems that Alexander Zukowski has done that here, and thus I had to wonder to what degree the tale that unfolds in “The Boy Who Fell to Earth” reflects the authors own experience of growing up in East London.
Jay is a mixedrace boy, living with his hardworking, white nurse mother in a largely black neighborhood in London, His life is full and happy, in spite of the limitations that being relatively poor in London impose on a single mother and her nonwhite son,
Their lives are pushed off kilter when an unconscious, halfdead boy Jays age is literally dumped in their front garden, The boy, Sasha, is gradually revealed to us, in chapters that alternate between his own and Jays perspective, It is a love story, but not an easy one, Oh, the love is easy, because Jays heart is large and undamaged, but Sashas tortured childhood has left him in a bad way, I wont elaborate to avoid spoilers, but it is pretty grim, There is no sugarcoating, other than the sweetness that Jays unwavering love for Sasha gives us,
Herein lies the angst and the genuinely horrifying truth: can Sasha save himself from the hell he has lived since he was all ofAt some point, even Jays love for him cant overcome Sashas overwhelming sense of worthlessness.
Ultimately, the question is whether Sasha can save himself, because in the end his choices are his own, Sasha must prove his worth to himself,
The Boy Who Fell to Earth, was graciously provided to me by the author, A, Zukowski, for an honest review,
"The Strength and Power of Love, . "
It's all in the cover, . Yes, that's exactly what I believe, I really do. So, when I first saw the cover of the book, "The Boy Who Fell To Earth," I immediately knew I had to read it, It had pulled me in, Almost like a gravitational pull, I barely read the synopsis before I began to read with bated breath,
Ohmygoodness. . "The Boy Who Fell to Earth", is an incredibly amazing, heartbreaking, soulcrushing, and yet, heartwarming book that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout its entirety.
I was unable to put it down, At all. How often does that happen to me Rarely to never, Every single one of my emotions were put into great use throughout this book, I cried, I cheered, I gasped, I bawled, I was angry, I chuckled, and I fell in love, I wanted to break through my computer, grab a hold of Sasha and Jay protectively, and, like a running back, tuck them into my bosom, and head for the hills, and never let go.
sigh This amazing book definitely got a hold of me and didnotletgo, It took me on a ride that was one of the most incredible, heartstopping rides that I have ever been on, One that has created a special place in my heart for two of it's main characters, Sasha and Jay, goes to hug computer again
"The Boy Who Fell To Earth", by A, Zukoswki, is about two young men, Jay Palmer and Aleksander Sasha Zukowski who meet as a result of a severely traumatic event, that immediately brought out my crocodile tears and made it close to impossible to read, as my heart began to bleed for one of the young men.
It is because of this event, that, these two wonderful individuals, fused their souls together, as they tried to make their way down the winding road of their young life.
Jay Palmer, a biracial young man from a single parent household, is someone who has probably one of the biggest hearts and the biggest set of protective wings known to man.
Sasha Zukowski, a blonde haired blue eyed quiet beautiful young man, wise beyond his years, has had a very difficult life, Through no fault of his own, he finds himself homeless and on autopilot as he tries to survive, And that's it. No bells and whistles for Sasha because it's simple survival, A regular young man wishing, most of the time initially, for survival,
As Jay and his mother, Maggie, take care of Sasha, Jay slowly discovers the extent of Sasha's past and what he has to do to survive.
As he does, he comes to realize many things about his own life, which leads to his own non judgmental connection with Sasha's own survival, Hear that fluttering Jay is Sasha's human guardian angel, It's more than a young man being attracted to another young man, Jay begins to nurture Sasha's soul, His being. His everything. Jay has this innate ability and need to help and guide and almost transform Sasha into the young man who he actually is, The man that Sasha, deep down, wishes to be, And, Jay doesn't even completely know much about Sasha, where he came from, his name, or even his past initially, All he knows is that his soul and physical being are severely damaged and is in need of help, So, through one kind word, and, one delicate hug, Jay's warm and blanketed strength, guides Sasha, as he begins to heal, as he slowly crawls toward his peace, and, in turn, begins to comfort Jay as his very own security blanket as well.
This is an absolutely gripping and moving story, A story of an unknown beautiful, lost, broken, guarded individual who reaches out and begs, for more than one reason, for help from two kind individuals, one being his soulmate, his guardian angel, and the other a nurse, all the while learning to trust.
And to live. But. . unfortunately, sometimes blankets finds themselves to develop holes in them, Holes not created by their owners, but, from the harsh and brutal world surrounding them, Sasha, this damaged young man finds thoughts of inadequacy banging down his door, And winning. This story is one that has an individual desperately and softly knocking on the doors of survival, while numbly doing dark things that he feels are his only purpose in life.
As with many things in life, the road toward peace is often a difficult one, Throughout the book, Sasha finds himself in numerous situations, which had me constantly trying to hold onto something, while trying to read as my tears poured down my face.
All the while repeating my positive mantra, "Ohh, . please, please, please . " Then there were many times when I said, . . "Omg. . NO!!" I was grateful, though, for all of Sasha's friends who had helped him when he had needed it, So, there were many secondary characters who I really liked, There were also many who I didn't, It was during these scenarios that the plight of the homeless really made itself known, and, made me want to do something concrete for each and every one of them.
As I continued through the book, I felt like I could see a light and delicate string blowing in the wind, dangerously close to snapping or breaking apart, as a result of the slightest of breezes.
This string was Sasha, hardened by the merciless streets of London, as they lead him down dark roads, as
he barely tried to survive, day by day, while trying to avoid destruction.
Having discovered the existence of Sasha's downward spiral, Jay, through unconditional love and their soulbinding connection, valiantly continued with his mission to save Sasha from both the world and also from himself.
While I honestly found this book to be absolutely incredible, and even though the story does contain British vernaculars, which did not draw me away from the overall storyline, there were many things that caused the need for another run through through the editing process.
I did find numerous mistakes with the overall writing, breaks in the scenes which, in this readers opinion, were very necessary, I do believe, that, scenes written with more detail, enable the reader to really feel the story and the characters, which would lead to a better overall flow of the book.
"The Boy Who Fell To Earth" is an incredible story, One that warmed me, broke me, comforted and soothed me, It has me wanting to stay with Jay and Sasha for a long, long time to come, . :
star stars: I really enjoyed this book, It wasn't perfect, but I really liked it, .
