bad

I liked this version of the fairytale King Thrushbeard, The Princess was pretty spoiled in this one, I liked how " Jack" punished her when she didn't do what he asked her to do, Very steamy. “You will marry the very next man who walks in that door, ”

As the only princess of a prosperous kingdom, I have wanted for nothingand refused all suitors, What real man is worthy of my interest, when I secretly pen tales of handsome lords and beautiful brooding counts But now my father has gathered up every eligible royal bachelor in all the realm.
And its just as I suspected, not one to capture my fancyespecially King Brennus of the Wood Elves, who looks like a bandit and has the accent of a man born in a barn.
Id rather be on my own forever, I refuse them all. The last thing I expected was for my mildmannered father to insist, in a fit of anger, that I marry the next man who walks in the door, even if hes a peasantand what do you know

“No, lass.
I wont let you starve, But you wont exactly be free either, And just remember, any time you like, you can stop me, All you have to do is work or beg, ”

My new husband looks like a laborer and lives in a little cabin in

the forest, but something tells me hes not what he seems.
He says he means to teach me humility in the form of honest work, making stew and scrubbing floors, But somehow or other, he knows all my secrets, all the deepest desires of my heart, and there is no one in the forest to hear me beg him for mercy.
. . except the wolvenfolk who howl in the forest at night, They havent made any trouble in fifty years, but when the wolves are at the door, I dont know if a peasant can save me

The Beggar Princess is a retelling of the Brothers Grimm's King Thrushbeard, a standalone fairy tale romance for those who like unabashedly adorable happily ever afters with a side of serious steaminess! Fun and sexy reimagined fairytales in an interconnected universe.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books.
. .

star This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end, I will avoid this author like the plague in the future,

This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author,

This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author,

I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Another retelling

This fairy tale is actually another one Im not too familiar with, I love the twists and the dark retelling the author has crafted into these stories, It is a quick yet steamy read, I highly recommend if you enjoy fairy tales retellings with some dark elements, I have enjoyed this entire series so far and plan to read the others, In utter insult to the original fairytale,
I had hoped the wolves would kill her, Everyone annoyed the shit out of me,
Plot was bad, female lead was shit, sex was pathetic, Brennus was meh, King Thrushbeard retold. An erotic retelling of the fairy tale “King Thrushbeard” in the inimitable Lidiya Foxglove style, Princess Bethany is spoiled and gets everything she wants, But when she keeps dismissing her suitors her father decrees that she will marry whoever comes the door next be it prince or pauper, Thus she ends up married to “Jack” who sets out to teach her humility, Little does she know its really King Brennus a man who she had recently humiliated, A rollicking enjoyable read. Read and reviewed as part of The Fairy Tale Heat Boxed Set

I loved the stories within a story, that the female protagonist was a writer and how she used her storytelling to save herself.
FREE on Amazon today! So this one is a blend of Little Red Riding Hood, King Thrushbeard which I love to critique so much I put it in my senior history thesis, andNights.
It may turn out to be my favorite one in the series because I haven't finished yet! It definitely has my favorite leading man so far! The beggar princess lives up to her usual spoiled reputation, but you can't help but root for her to get her act together! Usually in the King Thrushbeard story you are ready to strangle all the men in the story for their obnoxious, patriarchal horse hockey.
This one managed to avoid triggering my normal rant while following the familiar frame of the tale, Props!

My favorite of the series so far, I'll always have a soft spot for heroines that write, And "King Thrushbeard" is a lesser none fairy tale, so it's nice to see it here I believe this is the first time I've seen it rewritten.
I enjoyed the tie to the previous book in the princess's novel, I'm hoping to hear more about the wolves and their future, I really enjoy King Thrushbeard stories, and admittedly its difficult to have it be retold in a modern way and still be sweet,

While theres certainly a lot of steam, the characters were not endearing or likable, Its nice that they like each other, sure, but I just couldnt really bring myself to care about them much, I loved this!!!! and the reason not astar is i wish it could have been longer!!!! Ended to quickly,

This has to be my fave fairy tale heat addition so far!!! It was like a medievalshades in reverse rich to poor brilliant!

I loved the stories within stories, the magic, Jack!

Yea a fantastic quick read!.
