anticipation of the holiday novella still loved it!!!

I'm bumping this up tobecause, . . I just loved it! : After more than a week and several other books I'm still thinking about it, It was cute, sweet, funny and the characters were adorable! I have read the one other book I could find by this author and it was also very, very good going to add her to my watchlist but this one was absolutely wonderful and I didn't want it to end! Dominic was so relatable, a little insecure, but no pushover.
Loved his snarky comments! He was completely clueless at times, especially when it came to Tristan, but in a totally cute way, He never came across as stupid or mean, And Tristan was such a cheerful and positive person, I liked him from the start, Also loved that he didn't seem to be bothered at all when finding himself attracted to a guy when previously he had only been with women.
His attitude was just great!
I could have happily kept on reading for anotherpages, that's how much I loved the writing, the story, the characters, everything! Such a feelgood, funny and cute book! Hope she writes another one like this and soon.
: Writing this story as a romcom, freshened the rather oftenused trope of the CEO and the PA, The dialogue had an abundance of acerbic, witty exchanges of banter, with several well rounded characters, apart from the cliched, hateful fiancée, Dominic had friends and family adding depth and humor to the narrative and the lack of any homophobia in Tristans family was a pleasant surprise.
However, I wish that Dominics and Tristans characterization were crafted differently,

The first person POV was presented well, but the narrative coming entirely from Dominic, was a drawback in my view, As CEO of a very large firm, many of Tristans actions were just not in line with someone capable of that level of responsibility, He also exhibited a marked lack of ability to communicate when it came to Dominic, Of course, Dominics personality was created as far too obtuse, stubborn and judgmental, Dominics intense dislike of Tristan, as the story begins, had a very flimsy basis, and is carried to absurd extremes, His continued refusal to stay on as PA and lack of belief in Tristan became irritating rather than amusing, consuming far too much of the narrative.
Nevertheless, it entertained, largely because of the dialogue, which was sharp and snarky and did amuse me, Perhaps Im demanding excessive realism for a storyline thats meant to be lighthearted and romantic, Im sure other readers will be less critical and simply enjoy the atmosphere and very happy ending in the epilogue,

An ARC was provided by the author or publisher at no charge and I have chosen to publish a fair and honest review on Hearts On Fire s blog This was a great effort.
Unfortunately, I never could warm up to Dominic or see what Tristan saw in him, Personal assistant Dominic is a consummate professional, Funny then, that he harbors such unprofessional feelings toward Tristan Maxwell, the CEO of the company, No, not in that way, The man may be the walking epitome of gorgeousness dressed up in a designer suit, But, Dominic's immune. Unlike most of the workforce, he can see through the pretty facade to the arrogant, selfentitled asshole below, It's lucky then, that the man's easy enough to avoid,

Disaster strikes when Dominic finds himself having to work in close proximity as Tristan's P, A. The man is infuriatingly unflappable, infuriatingly goodhumored, and infuriatingly unorthodox, In short, just infuriating. A latenight rescue leading to a drunken pass only complicates matters further, especially with the discovery that Tristan is both straight and engaged,

Hatred turns to tolerance, tolerance to friendship, and friendship to mutual passion, One thing's for sure, if Tristan sets his sights on Dominic, there's no way Dominic has the necessary armor or willpower to keep a force of nature like Tristan at bay for long, no matter how unprofessional a relationship with the boss might be.
He may just have to revise everything he previously thought and believed in for a chance at love, Reread. I reread this because the author said she had read a review recently that called Tristan weird, My reread confirms this. He is weird. But for me thats a compliment! I still adored him in all his weirdness, Still wasnt a fan of thedrama, But my love of Tristan again took over and I powered through that part,

I do have two complaints about this book but Im giving it four because the good definitely outweighed the bad.

The Good:

I absolutely enjoyed the majority of it, It had witty banter, lots of snark, delicious sexual tension and Tristan was a big puppy who I fell for big time, I loved him and Dominic together so much, I cant wait to read Pauls story,

What I didnt like:

Its a peeve of mine, especially in a gfy type story, when the author makes the woman if one of the characters is dating a woman absolutely terrible.
For me it kind of takes away from the story, Just my two cents. She doesnt need to be a saint but the women in this one was such a caricature, I didnt like it. Theres no cheating in this if you have concerns,

I also was not a fan of the drama and misunderstanding at the end, Oh Im all for the angst sometimes but this felt very contrived and manufactured, It didnt work.

Overall, with the exception of the two things, Ive got lots of love for this book!Stars to aboutmark
Stars total, because I'm really fed up with the same old same old.

Really liked the book till aroundthen there was some drama needed and it drifted of into the usuall unrealistic mush,
I get it from a writing perspective, but one really could have come up with something more originall than the usuall 'lets not talk about it and therefore engage in some unnecessary drama'.

Also not mentioning something that could save your life is not 'annoying anyone, or bore people', It would be when you tell your entire life story when no one asked, but mentioning a lifethreathening thing you've got is not! Damn really didnt work for me.
Tristan was extremely childish and overly pushy with forcing a relationship, unpopular opinion possibly
And the idea of one mc not wanting to bother with silly details like a severe allergy just irritated me, You own an epipen surely thats not a silly detail to share with your boyfriend,
I wish this had worked for me, When I first started this I was only going to give it four, . . but oh boy Tristan just won me over big time, . This author is new to me and I can't even remember how I came across this book but I'm so glad I did, This is a really funny book, Tristan is just amazing . To say he's a CEO of his own company but how he acts he's almost childlike, or like Dom calls him a puppy, He's always eating has no qualms about being with a man even though he's engaged to a woman at the start, . . He's afraid of spiders and lets Dom know, . . He doesn't let Dom down, . . In fact it's Dom and Tristan's ex who do the letting down, . . although his ex was just being petty, . . I love these two . There isn't too many sex scenes just lots of banter between them, . . It really is an amazing book and just a pity it's not available in paperback, . Will definitely look up more from this author x This was a fun read, low

angst and full of snarky comments from Dominic, I found it entertaining. Tristan was absolutely Mr. F Perfect, and he's too good to be true, This was a light fun read, But honestly, I didn't really like Dominic as much as I wanted to, I have no idea why did Tristan can put up with him, Not to mention, he's actually engaged with a woman before he realized he's in love with Dominic,
Not my favorite of this author, but this was enjoyable nonetheless,
So, you'll probably enjoying this one as well, A Temporary Situation by H, L. Day is a book that I was attracted to simply by its cover, I have not read anything by this author before, so I really don't have anything to base a comparison, When I read the blurb and noticed it was going to be an office romance between CEO and personal assistant, I cringed a little because, I feel like this setup has been done so much lately.
Still, I went into this story with an open mind and ready to meet some new characters,

I will say this book was entertaining, Even if I wanted to reach into the book and strangle one of the MC, Tristan, I have not had a character that rubbed me the wrong way as quickly as Tristan did, in quite some time, Tristan is the head of a large company, The author alludes to its wealth and notoriety, not to mention Tristan and every other major person in the company have personal assistants, However, Tristan acts like a besotted teenager throughout most of the book instead of a university educated corporate bigshot, His behavior was such a turn off for me that I almost walked away from the book, Then the other MC Dominic is so stuck on something from the past that he gets in his own way of happiness,

The other characters in the book range from a busybody mailroom clerk, a pushover manager, and family members that are too good to be true.
Then there is Maria. Tristan's fiance throughout most of the book, Yes, he is engaged and cough "straight" for a large part of the book, Maria, she is a bit unstable and acts very outrageous, Between her behavior and Tristan's personality, it would have been a tossup as to which was the bigger drama queen in their relationship,

Despite all of this, the author does get our characters to an HFN ending and the story did keep me entertained, The chemistry between the two MC was not off the charts but they did have some fun, especially with Tristan being new to manonman lovin' he takes to it with his typical "man in charge" attitude and has no hangups about exploring another man.

Overall,Stars a light read with characters who drive you a little crazy!,
