is a great first read for anyone who's looking to make their lives better through healthier eating and aren't sure where to begin.
I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, though I eat many vegan or vegetarian meals on a daily basis, I do eat meat, but my diet is still primarily plant based and aboutorganic and have for the past several years which I've noticed significant health benefits and improvements.
CJ provides some great resources and information for beginners who aren't sure about many of the conflicting pieces the health industry says about food and health.
This was well written and I really enjoyed her sassy personality to help tone down the monotony of how usually health books can read and feel.
As she states, CJ is not a doctor and that this is her manifesto of what has worked for her and her clients.
Change, even just wanting to look and feel better in our own skin, is not always easy for everyone.
However, CJ presents options where anyone can start the gradual shift to a better life, It's all a matter of perspective and CJ has presented a wellrounded one very nicely for those who are not familiar with this subject.
I got an ARC from the author for an honest review, I have tried countless diets in the past with decent success only to gain back the weight when I got too comfortable.
I always like reading the latest info about better eating, especially now since I have experienced the before, during and after affects of cancer.
So when C. J. English was offering ARCs for this book, I just had to raise my hand and wave it from side to side, shouting, "Me! Please pick me!"
I knew I would love reading this within the first page when she said the book was filled with graphic language, mature subject matter, and dry, sarcastic, WTF humor.
I live for this type of sense of humor, since I too share the same way of thinking and writing.
C. J. had me laughing, but more importantly, had me questioning what it is I want out of this vessel I call my body.
Since being diagnosed with thyroid cancer and having a full thyroidectomy, I have struggled with my weight.
My new life consists of daily doses of thyroid hormones, trying not to have anxiety and panic attacks and desperately trying to keep my eyes open.
I'm constantly tired, get frequent headaches, feel like a slug and overall, want to hibernate under the covers for the rest of my days.
But, I have three kids and sporting events and a husband who thinks dinner needs to come in the way of a four course meal preferably every night.
There's never a dull moment in my chaotic life, and although I wouldn't change a damn thing, there are days I'd like to invest in me time.
And my me time means learning to cope with my "new self" and getting my health under control, WTF Am I Supposed To Eat is a great place to start, C. J. offers a common sense outlook on fueling the body and backs it up with respectable resources, The premise of this book is easy to follow and I think easy to administer into daily life, The recipes given at the end of the book sound delicious and I can't wait to try them,
I really found this book to not only be enjoyable to read but super informative, I am excited to have been given the opportunity to read this book in an exchange for a review.
I'm looking forward to slowly starting to implement this lifestyle in hopes of easing the symptoms of my thyroid issues and in my quest to finding a healthier version of me.
I honestly cannot believe how fast I read this! Dieting books aren't exactly my thing, I love alllll the foods!! Yet, I couldn't stop reading it because for one, it's hilariously witty, I laughed so much during this read it's a sin, She has such a way with words, Secondly, everything she's saying is broken down and supported with some factual ass shit, Most of it is basic information that you already kind of know just in more depth so you understand it better.
All that information you keep locked up in the back of your mind when you're eating because well, who wants to think about this stuff when you're scarfing down pizza Not me! But it's good to remember and I'd highly recommend highlighting so many things or keeping a notepad handy to take notes because she basically tells you to figure out what's best for you.
She doesn't tell you to work out or eat this or that or how much, . just to listen to your own body, Mainly, drink winehello That's a winner right there SOLD! , green tea, and eat more plants! She does throw in some recipes at the end and they're all things I'd actually eat.
I'm definitely going to be trying them out! Amazon Kindle Best Selling Weight Loss Book

Alternate Cover Edition While this manifesto has a great positive message told with humor and realness, I am afraid this book is not for me.
The plan that it details would not work for my family, I will try the recipes in the back of the book, as I may be able to pass some of them by my family.
I loved the different descriptions of food and what I should be on the look out for, I have already taken steps to cut sugars, and processed foods out of my and my families life,
What didn't work for me was the feeling I was being pushed toward veganism, juicing, and the constant verbiage about being skinny.
There was so much talk about wanting to be skinny, look skinny, skinny this or skinny that, I want to be healthy, nothing more, If along my journey I become skinny great, If not as long as I am healthy is what matters most to me,
I think this book is a perfect addition to anyone that is trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle, and for those that may be considering living a plant based lifestyle.
This book was provided by the author, but in no way influenced this review,

So, the answer to the question "WTF am I supposed to eat" is easy.
For me it's plantsmostly plants,
YES YES YES! As a vegan for over a year and a vegetarian for even longer, I am totally on board with this! Foods are either animal based or plant based, so plant based foods are ALL I eat.
And I've never felt better, To lose weight, there are certain plant foods I limit that CJ doesn't I almost never eat nuts when trying to lose and certain foods I eat as much as I want to quinoa, brown rice etc that she doesn't, but overall I loved the book and the message.
It was fun, entertaining, and informational, I would definitely recommend this one, The best thing about following authors in Instagram is being updated to the latest releases, book news, giveaways and advance copies.
When C. J. English posted that she needs reviewers for her new book WTF Am I Supposed to Eat, I eagerly signed up for it.
I have mentioned in my previous posts that ARC advance reader's copy is just music to my ears, I have this compulsion to just want to grab all ARC's if I can help it, And I was also curious to know what am I supposed to eat
I was never worried about my weight until I've reached my thirties.
I have always been thin, In my high school and college years, people would always tell me to eat more so I would not be blown by the wind.
But everything started to change when I went to work in Manila, Working night shifts just fueled my love for food and eating out, When you are working nights, sleeping during the day could never compensate for the quality of sleep at night.
Even if I sleep forstraight hours during the day, I would still fell like I have not slept enough.
And when you feel tired, you compensate for eating more, And that's when my weight started to move, My midsection started to widen,
Currently, I have a hard time making my abdomen flatter, My preferred weight islbs, With my height, my BMI body mass index islbs, The last time I weighed, I was around, I amlbs. over the weight I want, I want to go back to, So, reading all about what I need to know about food from this book is a great help, I have always loved vegetables and fish over pork and beef, If I could, I would eat vegetables and fruits everyday but like the author said, we can't always do that.
I like walking but have not been able to do it a lot lately, I do walk if I get the chance but it's not a conscious effort, I also skip breakfast. I am not a morning person and I don't really like breakfast, It's good to know that it's not as important as it was made out to be,
I really love this book, It shot down the most popular myths about eating healthy and dieting, I also love that it is as blunt and as funny, Reading it was never boring, Facts were laid out straight with no danger of misunderstanding, It even dared the reader to check them out for validity, The way it was written just made it more convincing and it felt like I had a oneone weightloss consulting session with Miss English.
As the title of this book says a manifesto, we should all follow that, This book should be our guide to eating healthy, In fact, I have started telling people about what I read here, About not needing protein, drinking milk and walking, All we need are vegetables and fruits, Tea in the morning and red wine at night,
A friend of mine commented on a recent photo and pointed out that I am thinner, I realized I am, though I still need to work more on getting my waist smaller, I credited the positive change to eating pomelo a lot, Like with every meal. We have a friend who has pomelo trees overbearing with fruits in their backyard in the province, When we visited, we took about half a sack of those mouthwatering and juicy fruits,
I give this book five cups of tea and five glasses of red wine, I want to be a part of this movement of eating healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I want to be able to travel more and try new things, Go on more adventures like rappelling down caves, jumping from waterfalls, skydiving and more,
I am glad to know that my diet has not been that bad, Not needing any meat at all is a great thing, I can live without them, On the other hand, I love pastries and I want to find out how to make them healthy, I am learning to bake and I always hate putting butter when I am baking, Hopefully, C. J. will come up with a book all about healthy desserts, cakes, ice cream and cupcakes,
For all those who have been battling weight and body issues like forever, read this book, This will enlighten you. The best thing about this book is that it tells you what would best work for you, You can tailor your own way to lose that unwanted weight, Whatever works for you. This book will just point you the way and tell you what your body needs to facilitate slimming down in your own pace and in your own terms.
