read this book with my five year old and we both enjoy the brief stories of women from the Bible, Lovely illustrations are provided in soft pastels, The verses “Gods Wonderful Words to You” are always uplifting and paired well to the story, The folded “Love Letter from God” in each figures story is probably her favorite part and there is a blank heart shaped card at the end to write your own love letter to God.
This is a nice addition to a home library and a tool to forging a closer relationship between your child and God.
I love the premise of Love Letters from God: Bible Stories for a Girls Heart! An inspirational and fun book for young girls agedthat showcases females in the Bible and how their stories relate to the young readers lives.
The setup of the various Biblical stories is neat and organized, Each section consists of two pages, including a Bible story, verse, lovely illustration, and a flipup love letter from God, Each letter has a blank space to fill in a name to make it personalized,
Some of the female Bible characters included are Eve, Miriam, Rahab, Deborah, and Hannah, plus many more, The section titles are uniform, stating the descriptions and bond they share with the reader, such as: The First Girl, The Thirsty Girl, The Happy Girl, etc.
I cant give this book enough praise, It is adorable, shares lovely inspiring messages, and teaches Biblical stories that empower young women, The letters are an added treat to make the messages more pertinent and intimate, and the slipcovered hardback book is sturdy,
The stories are inspiring and the illustrations are detailed and colorful, An added treat is on the last page, where a blank flipup letter allows the reader to write her own love letter back to God.

My :
It's few and far between these days that you can find encouragement for young girls.
These days things are centered around treating them in not a Godly way, But thankfully, there are still some people out there like Glenys Nellist that still write what God has laid on their hearts to share with young girls.
My daughter is grown now but she never tires of reading the author's books and we hope to share with her daughters one day the love that God has for them.
In this lifttheflapbook, you can find stories of young girls from the Bible that will lift up and encourage the young girls of today.
These girls fought to do right by the Almighty and God allowed them to win that fight, I like to think that God is more than a little partial to us girls, He says such great things to us, He loves us all and only wishes the best for us, A great inspiring read for agesbut momma liked it too!
Disclosure This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.
All opinions are my own, Love Letter from God
Bible Stories for a Girl's Heart
Written by Glenys Nellist
Illustrated by Rachel Clowes
This book is a picture book that is perfect for reading with your young daughter/granddaughter or for an older young reader to read aloud.
Each of thesestories coverspages, Illustrations accompany each story that focuses on a specific Biblical figure,
Stories are taken from both the Old and New Testaments and focus on a specific girl/woman, The stories look at Eve, Mariam, Rahab, Deborah, Hannah, Esther, Mary, Martha, Mary of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, andother women who were unnamed.
Each story is accompanied by a letter "from God" that is written to the reader, The last page is a large heart that when flipped open is lined for the reader to write her own love letter to God with her thoughts and feelings.
This is a book that is intended for theyearold and in my opinion, this is an appropriate audience with a little wiggle room if you want to share on either end of the age range.
The stories are not long so short attention spans will not be taxed, But if one is so inclined the referenced Scripture verses could be read as well adding to the story for older children as each story is a synopsis of the whole.
I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher through Handlebar with no expectation of a positive review.
All expressed opinions are my own, One of my favorite quotes from this beautiful picture book is, "God clapped his hands in delight as Eve opened her eyes for the very first time.
" Inside you will discoverinspiring stories about these amazing women of God, such as 'The Trusting Girl,' 'The Brave Girl,' and 'The Hopeful Girl.
' Ageswill be delighted to engage in a fun handson activity of lifting the flap to read a personal warm and loving message from God.
The charming illustrations are filled with wonder, beauty, and peace, The entire book is bathed in sweetness for your little girl, I highly recommend this charming book for all home and Sunday School libraries, Guaranteed to touch your heart and be encouraged in His love, What a lovely, lovely book, Such a tender attitude that comes through, The illustrations are beautiful and feminine pleasing to the eye, Each Bible story has a personal note attached where you can add the girl's name to make it even more personal, All done in a quality kind of way, no cheap feel to it at all,
Now I have to be honest, it did give me a bit of a hesitation when I read some of the stories and they weren'taccurate according to scripture.
But what a good starting point if you want to start a conversation about the Bible, Why not use it as a jumping off point to go deeper into the Bible itself Why not say to the reader, " You know this is great but there is more to the story.
Why don't we look it up together in the Bible and see more about it, " Or if you know your Bible, you could add more truth about each story, Just a thought.
On a side note this is a really big sized book, in case you didn't notice in the description,
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Handlebar and my reviews did not have to be positive,
But what a delight that it is a positive review, I am now trying to think of who to gift this book to,

Originally posted at sitelink org/ I love this book, Glenys has chosen several wonderful stories about women, in the Bible, to retell, She's written each one in easy to understand language and shows that God values girls as the daughters he's created, The lifttheflap letters from God are encouraging and uplifting, Rachel's artwork is just lovely, The colors, drawings, and ephemera she uses to create each piece goes beautifully with each girl's story, As my daughters grew up I wanted them to know that God loved them and valued them, This book is a great place to start if you want to encourage young ladies in their relationship with God, I will share these heartwarming stories with my granddaughters, My daughter and I have both checked out this cool book for girls,
She likes that it has stories about girls and women from the bible that she has learned about in Sunday School and Awana.
She always gets excited when she recognizes one they have just studied, She also loves to read the personal letters from God to her, She is currently using it for her morning devotional read,
I like that it catches my daughter's attention, that she enjoys reading it and can learn something from it, I also like the little notes at the end of each story that add a personal touch to it, A love letter from God to her that includes her in the story, and makes it applicable to her life,
This book is beautifully illustrated and pretty for girls, The colorful pictures are so eye catching! There are multiple stories of girls or women from the Bible and how God loved them and proved his love for them.
Each story ends with a personal love letter from God to your girl, And the book itself ends with a giant page in which your girl can write her own love letter TO God, I think that is so special, Our children need to learn to love GOD, not just to accept His love for them, Reading through the book should make them aware of all He has done for them, so they can see all the reasons why they should love him back.
I also liked that each story included the passage of Scripture in the Bible where you could find the story, There was a separate verse in an image somewhere on the page also, I can't say I found anything about this book I really didn't like, The more I browsed the pages, the more I liked what I saw,
My recommendation for my own daughter was to read through the whole book, then write her personal love letter to God.
I would recommend this book for any girl ages,
We received this book from Zondervan, Booklook and Handlebar to read for free, We were not asked to review it positively, And all opinions are our own, .
