Is this the worst textbook ever
With this presentation of text,pictures and ideas, this is almost criminally unhelpful and I have more than foundation knowledge in both psychology and biology.

If you want to go for depth, like med school level of depth in an enlightening way, try the recently retitled textbook by Breedlove, "Behavioral Neuroscience"
If you want a more accessible one, probably Pinel's "Biopsychology".

The gold standard is very much still Kalat's "Biological Psychology", Dense. Undergradish, but dense.
