Me: Ok

Maybe This Time is about a girl named Sophie who works for the local florist, attending events and arranging bouquets.
At a valentine's event she meets Andrew son a famous new chef in town and required at all the events Sophie has to be at.
They have a rough first meeting and Sophie thinks he is arrogant and entitled and Andrew thinks she's a snob.
At every event throughout the year, they keep getting in each other's way until eventually, they end up becoming friends and then maybe something more.

After sitelinkP. S. I Like You became my numberKasie book, I didn't think another one would dethrone it so soon but here we are.
This book was just everything I wanted and everything I needed right now, It has the classic Kasie West wholesomeness and just all around cute but without being shallow or childish.
I don't mind high school romances but this one not taking place in high school was really nice.

This entire book is told from event to event in snapshots and I loved that so much.
Instead of getting filler, it gets right to the good stuff, Also I was weirdly into seeing all the different events and how they were run behind the scenes.
. . don't me. This relationship is hate to love and watching them become friends slowly into romance was pure, Plus so freaking adorable, They only see each other during the events so all the development between them happens purely at the events, throughout the entire year.
They were honestly just so good together and I really loved them, even especially when they were bitching at each other.

Sophie's friend Micah has a large part in this too and I loved their strong friendship that had drama but it was actual necessary drama and not some petty pointless drama.
Sophie's relationship with her family was pretty complicated too, While everything is fluffy and cute, some serious topics are still put into play but I like how it doesn't go too hard, just hard enough.

Plus FLOWERS. So many flowers! Love that! I'm so glad that I loved this one because I was worried after I wasn't the hugest fan of her last book but Kasie West has yet again blown me away with the cuteness.

Highly recommend this great romcom,

“Are we being crazy Is this impractical”
“Who cares Now is the time to fail spectacularly.
We have our whole lives ahead of us to try again and again, ”

Kasie Wests books are all short and sweet reads and Maybe This Time was no exception.
It was written in a unique manner, sectioned off by the nine events that the main characters Sophie and Andrew attend over the span of a year.
This means that quite a bit of time passes between some of their interactions which I found to be very interesting.

At the start of every section theres a short and hilarious blurb about the flower chosen for the event of that section, written by Sophie for the flower shop that she works at.
I really liked this! Many authors use quotes which I also love! but this felt specialized to this book which made it extra special.

”Carnation: A flower with a potent fragrance and distinct shape, mostly known for being the choice of cheapskates.
Bring someone a carnation and you may as well have plucked a dandelion out of a crack in the sidewalk.
But carnations dont mind their reputation, They are both hardy and longlasting, Stubborn little flowers. Long live the carnation!”

I really enjoyed the character development in this book.
Contemporary standalones tend to be quick and therefore not have a lot of good character arcs, which is unfortunate because I love when characters grow and discover who they are.
Kasie West managed to include big changes in Sophie over the year when the story took place and as readers we get to follow her over that journey!

Overall: Another fun read by Kasie West!

.
One year. Nine events. Nine chances to fall in love

Weddings, Funerals. Barbecues. New Year's Eve parties. Name the occasion, and Sophie Evans will be there, Well, she has to be there, Sophie works for the local florist, so she can be found at every big event in her small hometown, arranging bouquets and managing family dramas.

Enter Andrew Hart, The son of the fancy new chef in town, Andrew is suddenly required to attend all the same events as Sophie.
Entitled, arrogant, preppy Andrew. Sophie just wants to get her job done and finish up her sketches so she can apply to design school.
But every time she turns around, there is Andrew, getting in her way and making her life more complicated.
Until one day she wonders if maybe complicated isn't so bad after all, . .

Told over the course of one year and following Sophie from event to event, this delightful novel from master of romantic comedy Kasie West shows how love can blossom in unexpected places.
I absolutely love Kasie West's books! Maybe This Time was the perfect easyread book to get me out of my reading slump.
I absolutely loved Sophie, Micah, and Andrew, The one thing I didn't like was that Sophie's brother acted more like ayear old then anyear old, but overall I really liked this book.
I'm struggling with what to say of this story, I kept waiting to like Sophie and that made it hard to engage with the story very well.
She treated Andrew pretty shabbily for quite a while and every time she'd go to apologize, he'd stiffen up and she'd abort with an internal justification that he didn't deserve one.
The thing is, apologies aren't given to the deserving, They're given because you messed up and need to make something right, If one is owed, it's owed regardless of someone else's behavior, Not that I expected that level of moral reasoning from the story, but it still bothered me.

And part of what I didn't like is the structure around "events" spaced out over a year.
It felt like some conflicts were allowed to go on to extend to the next event so the author didn't have to do awkward exposition.
I'm thinking of a fight she has with her best friend and they "didn't talk for a month" and that didn't scan for me.
Or the whole storyline with the local boy she kind of liked where their dating moved in super slow motion possibly so it could build over several of these events.

All of that said, it kept me going to the end, Andrew is awesome and I liked the overall plot, And the character growth arc worked so that by about midway through Sophie was much more comfortable to be around.
So it's a win, but not an outstanding one,

for, . . sitelinkreasons. It's complicated. Which is why there's a link, . .

A note about Chaste: The event structure and course of the story meant there wasn't time or place for physical intimacy.
So this is a pretty chaste story with only a few kisses, .
