this wasn't horrible. I felt bad for her but it was hard not to think of her as this desperate, pathetic creature, I wish she made him work for it at the end, But it would not have been in keeping with her character if she suddenly played it aloof, Silliness aside, I found this enjoyable, it would've been nice if Belmore's brother had been mentioned, “Non era né una principessa dai capelli rosso Tiziano né la bella del ballo, Lei era Letitia Hornsby, aveva capelli castani e ricci come il codino di un maialino e se ne stava in un angolino al suo primo ballo, sola e dimenticata da tutti”
Letitia, famosa come “birbante”, proprio dalluomo che le ha affibbiato quel nomignolo, viene tratta dallimbarazzo.
Nel ton è vista un po come la combina guai, quella che in un certo senso porta “sfortuna”, Tutti le girano alla larga ma Richard, conte di Downe, no anche se non immagina neanche lui perché effettivamente labbia fatto, Un ballo con lamichetta di sempre sa che potrebbe scatenare un uragano o uninvasione di cavallette, Lei i guai li attira più di una calamita e qui non centra la magia quella è tipica di Joy ma è unaltra storia!
“E fu così che circa un anno dopo Letty si ritrovava a guardare il suo amore, disteso immobile, con la testa bionda sul suo grembo, le sopracciglia scure macchiate di sabbia, quegli occhi verde scuro chiusi.
”
Non è assolutamente ciò che state pensando macché, non è altro che il suo ennesimo disastro, una gran brutta caduta da cavallo dalla quale uno tsunami di eventi inimmaginabili si susseguono, neanche fossero vittime di un sortilegio! Corsari, pirati, disavventure e qualche risata, elementi che renderanno il tutto così a tratti divertente e fantasioso, fino a rendere questo bellissimo romanzo, quasi una favola.

Non saranno sempre rose e fiori e stavolta non centra nulla il cattivo influsso di Letty nei confronti della fortuna, Tutta colpa di un ingrato destino o della cattiveria delluomo, che non vede fine! Proprio ora che qualcosa è cambiato nel cuore di Richard Lennox, ora che il seme dellamore è riuscito a germogliare dove terra arida, da troppi anni vi era stata depositata.


Dopo “Una ragazza incantevole”, la serie continua con “Unadorabile sognatrice”, Per essere più precisi, ogni volume è autoconclusivo e se vi ritrovate con questo romanzo tra le mani, vorrà dire che vi chiarirete alcuni dubbi successivamente anzi forse avrete ancor più curiosità, e ad innamorarvi perdutamente di Joy ed Alec, ci metterete un istante.

Ma è tempo di Richard e Letty, A grandi linee vi ho raccontato di loro, la Barnett invece, è stata scrupolosa come al solito, tracciando lesatto identikit dei suoi personaggi, Letty è vittima di disgrazie e disavventure, che hanno trasformato un padre distante nel tempo, in troppo protettivo, Richard non accetta un passato che lo ha fatto soffrire e che lo ha indurito, nascondendogli la chiave del cuore,
“Aveva sempre pensato di essere in qualche modo immune allamore, Aveva immaginato se stesso come una persona incapace di dare il proprio cuore a un altro, Ma in fondo non aveva capito le proprie emozioni più di quanto non avesse capito suo padre”,
Unevoluzione dei personaggi, che maturano insieme ad eventi fortunosi e fantasiosi ma anche tangibilmente veri, La bravura dellautrice riesce a far collimare tanti elementi creando un romanzo mai banale e profondo, anche tra pagine spensierate, Come già anticipato, le avventure di Richard Lennox si intersecano con Joy e Alec, ma anche con il Visconte Saymor e la sua amata, Vi consiglio di non perdere entrambi i romanzi, così diversi ed emozionanti,
Un insieme di “niente è come sembra”, di stupore, speranza, simpatia ma soprattutto fiducia, Ritrovata, questultima, grazie allamore.
Permettetemi un grazie particolare a Isabella Nanni, Soprattutto vorrei farle i miei complimenti per essere rimasta fedele al testo, senza intaccare lempatia che Jill Barnett riesce a stabilire con il lettore,.stars
The reviews had warned me so going in I knew the heroine is so naive, innocent and utterly besotted with the hero, She is also accident prone towards the hero, that it made me chuckle, I quite liked the heroine and even the grumpy rakish hero who despite everything acted honorably towards Lettie, The whole smuggler plot was hilarious and I loved how the wicked witch aunt did all of it, Even Lettie's dog was hilarious, Come al solito, una meraviglia! Questa scrittrice non mi delude mai L'unica piccola pecca è il finale un po' frettoloso, ma sempre molto bello e dolce, Assolutamente consigliato!
PS. Grazie di cuore alla traduttrice che ci ha permesso di leggere in italiano questa chicca Actually, my rating's closer to/stars, only because I read the kindle edition which had annoying typos throughout and because overall the story was tad conventional BUT I was surprised into liking Letitia.
She initially comes across as being extremely 'blonde' despite her chestnuthair, The first part of the novel is one mishap after another, a kind of slapstick muddleup that very nearly made me categorize her as toostupidtolive, Yet. Yet, her genuine love for the victim of her disasters, Richard, is so, so unabashed, so unconditional that I found myself rooting for her, Motherless and friendless for most of heryears, she has not learned social graces but the lesson she has taken to heart comes here I don't think I'm spoiling: "You think I'm a child and I know nothing about the world or about love.
But I know about love, I know about loss. And I know about loneliness, and goodbyes, and about never being able to voice those feelings again, "
Suddenly, she was not so silly, Since I discovered Mrs Jill Barnetts work, it is always a pleasure to read a new piece of her work,
And here is an other of her wonderful read, I laughed, smiled, shivered, was sad and angry with and for Letty and Richard,
Letty is an angel mixed with a klutz, she has always the best intentions in her mind, but by some twisted fates it constantly ends in catastrophe, And Richard is often the recipient of said disasters,
As child having grown up alone, Richard swiftly became her whole world, the knight in shining armor who will save her from her loneliness, But he only saw in her, an imprudent kid who cant stop to stalk him and break havoc around her,
Richard made a life to go against his fathers will, so much it became his way of life, And Letty, his hellion disrupts everything he has planned,
It is how he finds himself kidnapped on a smuggler ship with Letty and her paininthearse dog Gus,
From here, everything goes to hell, and how I laughed, Letty cant walk strait without lighting a fire, tripping and shooting awry, causing a ship to falter, knocking Richard out, and on and on,
During their time in close proximity, Richard will get a new light about Letty, beginning to see her not as a kid but a grown up woman, one he could desire but also one he fears to be near as she awakens the worst in him, and she also revives feelings he has since long buried under his guilt.

A wonderful read. EVERY WOMAN LONGS TO FIND THE HERO SHE HAS SEEN IN HER DREAMS, . .

If only they can escape, a wondrous passion can blaze free, . . and they can find a lifetime's adventures in each others arms, From the first second the heroine laid eyes on the hero, she knew she loved him, Even in her naïve and innocent manor, she loved the man with every single inch of her being, Too bad she's like a curse to him, She horribly clumsy and so scatter brained that she's been the bane of his existence for years, He's done everything in his power to stay out of her reach but when they are kidnapped by smugglers after witnessing the crime, the hero is suddenly forced to be in her company.


The heroine is completely childlike both in her brutal honesty and kindness as well as her hero worship of a man who at first glanceit so far from hero material.
She's so faithful in her devotion to the hero that she blind to his faults, At least at first. She can see the man he's supposed to beits just buried deep under the layers of anger and alcohol abuse and loneliness, She can see thatthough he vehemently denies it he has goodness in him, As the reader you can see that as well, Sure, he's gruff and not very pleasant toward the heroine for most of the book, He gives into her wishes more often than naught, especially when she crieshe can't stand to see her cry, This book was an amazing rollercoaster of emotions for me, I laughed at times, I cried at time but I was entrenched in the story from story to firstcover to cover, It was amazing. I can't say that I've ever LOVED a heroine and hero character more than I loved these two, Both has such flaws and skewed outlooks of life but were so freakin' human, The hero was such a damn ass at times but other times he could be so sweetmostly not even aware of his actions at the time, It took a lot to finally dent the heroine's worship of the man she loves but when he said those things to hurt herto protect her from loving a scumbag like him I cried like a baby.
You could feel the poor girls heart breaking and it certainly broke my heart, But as I said it wasn't all angst, Though there were tear jerker momentsthe first half of the book was hilarious, The poor hero, stuck on a boat with the 'hellion' as he calls hera girl who put in in crutches, set his cloths of fire and shot him! And her damn dog who snarls when his name is said and tends to eat his diner.
Safe to say that I loved this book, It was paranormal in the slightest of ways abut it wasn't really in relation to the main characters story, I'm pretty sure I'm cheating by keeping in my library but screw it!
Relatively amusing, Funny in an innocent, innocuous fashion, Although at times, his disdain for her, and her constant attraction for disaster did get a bit old, which ruined a bit of the chemistry for me, Love scenes were a bit "normal" nothing too out of the ordinary, But all in all an enjoyable read, lighthearted and funny, After rereading Bewitching for the umpteenth time since thes, I finally picked up its sequel, only to remember why I didnt read it all those years ago, The heroine, Letitia Hornsby, is annoying

as hell, and the chemistry she shares with hero Richard Lennox, the Earl of Downe, is forced, All those readers who found Sara Winchester of Julie Garwoods The Gift frustratingly clumsy will soon discover that Letitia is the clumsiest girl in Romanceland, As for Richard, his transformation from cad to cadforyourowngood to knight in shining armor during the course of a gunshot wound and two concussions has its moments, but you can see the wheels Barnett struggles to turn in bringing these two together.

Questo libro mi è piaciuto meno del primo, ma prima di spiegarvi il motivo, vi parlerò di questo romanzo molto carino,

Siamo neldue anni dopo gli eventi di “Una Ragazza Incantevole” e qui conosciamo i nostri due protagonisti:,
Lui lo abbiamo già incontrato è Richard Lennox conte di Downe, uno dei migliori amici di Alec il protagonista del primo libro, di cui parleremo dopo,
E poi abbiamo lei, la signorina Letty Hurnby,

Nel primo libro veniva solo menzionata ed era lincubo di Richard: lei e quell'infido del suo cane che gli provocavano vari incidenti,
Il povero Richard ne era terrorizzato, mentre i suoi amici ne erano al contrario molto divertiti,
Ora abbiamo loccasione di seguire il suo punto di vista e di scoprire che no, non è il diavolo incarnato, ma una dolce e goffa ragazzina che dice sempre quello che pensa, non sta mai zitta e spesso combina pasticci e fa figuracce quando è nervosa o agitata.


Letitia “Letty” è figlia di un conte appassionato di antichità romane, Sua madre è morta quand'era piccola,
La povera Letty ha avuto una stagione disastrosa e infruttuosa tre anni prima ed è stata bandita da Londra senza avere nemmeno un buon partito al braccio.

La fanciulla è rovinata ed è anche irrimediabilmente innamorata, da quando era bambina, del simpatico e libertino Richard Lennox,
Inoltre molte delle sue figuracce in società sono dovute proprio alla presenza di Richard ai suoi stessi eventi sociali,

Tutto cambia quando per colpa del cane di Letty, Gus, lei e Richard vengono catturati da una banda di contrabbandieri e portati su una nave diretta in Francia.
Qui inizia lavventura e dovrete scoprire voi come continua,

Parliamo ora dei due protagonisti: Letty è una ragazza adorabile e divertente,
Coraggiosa, senza peli sulla lingua e genuina, mi è piaciuta anche se non quanto mi è piaciuta Joy,

Richard Lennox nel libro precedente era semplicemente il classico cinico e sarcastico libertino di molti romanzi regency,
In questo il personaggio di Richard è più approfondito, È un uomo che dietro il suo sarcasmo nasconde un profondo sconforto e senso dinadeguatezza nei confronti della propria posizione sociale,

Lo stile di scrittura di Jill Barnett è come nel primo volume scorrevole e spumeggiante oltre che divertente, tuttavia trovo i personaggi meno caratterizzati rispetto a Joy ed Alec che vediamo qui alle prese con la sfida di diventare genitori.


In conclusione si è stata una lettura piacevole, e la consiglio se volete un romance carino, leggero e divertente,
