This is the second book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read book, as it is fabulous and gives you the set up at the brewery.
. . and introduces Clara, who is the serious businessminded sister, and lead in this lovely second chance romance,
Whilst the affairs and success of the brewery are part of the story, there is less emphasis than there was when Maisie was running around festivals in the last book.
It is a good backdrop though and reminds us of how serious minded Clara is, even if the book is mostly a lot of fun,
I loved how this story acknowledged the past, helped both Clara and her high school sweetheart, unknowing father of her son, and famous baseball player, Sullivan move forward and give them a chance at a new future.
He had so many demons that needed slaying and finally he got the chance, So many little things which were so vital to their getting a second chance make this book really special, It was the detail, the way that her sisters and their friends rally round and support them both,
Mason is a sweet little boy, without being too cute, He is important, but not the focus of the story, even when being very endearing! Sullivan really dealt rather well with being an instant Dad of ayear old, it was pleasant surprise, which certainly helped Clara see that there was a chance of something special between them all.
Very easy writing style, with lots of good humour, reconciliation with the past, a chance to lay some difficult family times away, and look to a much brighter, happier and loving future.
Absolutely perfect reading, thank you Stacey Kennedy, . . and the set up for a fantastic new story, which I hope is coming soon!
sitelink I loved everything about this entertaining read, Feisty Red is book two in the Three Chicks Brewery Series but it can certainly be read as a standalone, I know this because I havent read book one as yet but I will certainly be looking at it as soon as time permits.
Sullivan Kenne left townyears ago and when he went off to follow his dream of playing professional baseball he also took a piece of Clara Carters heart with him.
Clara and Sullivan were high school sweethearts and she always thought they would be forever,
Clara is the brains behind Three Chicks Brewery and if the brewery is going to expand they need to get Colorados biggest beer distributor onboard so she sets a meeting up with the man in charge.
What she didnt expect was that man to be Sullivan, the cowboy who ran out on her seven years ago, .
Clara and Sullivan have a long history but does that mean they also have a future and what will happen when Sullivan realises secrets where kept from him, can this couple put the hurt behind them and move on to HEA, guess you are going to read the book to find that out, This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed, I swooned and I sighed and I giggled at the one liners only a child can deliver, I highly recommend you one click this gem of a read and I cant wait to read the other books in this entertaining series,
So, I thought I was going to like this more than the first one and I would have, except for the ending dumbness, The no one being mad about the secret baby was fine, the hero got why she didn't pursue things further since he tricked her into not contacting him again, But the leaving for their own good in the face of an army of tabloids which also felt unrealistic honestly and it taking that long for someone to go, "why don't we find a friendly reporter to talk to", I just could have done without that.
But still! Enjoyed on the whole, In Feisty Red we meet Clara Carter, the oldest Carter sister and a single mom, Ever since Clara got pregnant she made sure she was able to give her son the best and most stable life possible, And she did a great job at that, But
now Claras ex Sullivan Kenne returns to their hometown after being absent for years, Sullivan broke Claras heart, and he has no clue he has a son,
Sullivans life has been all about baseball for years, As a professional baseball player, that is exactly how its supposed to be, But Sullivans past keeps haunting him and its time to go home,
Feisty Red was from the start definitely a fun read, Although this is book two in the series, I never felt like I missed information or was reading a second book, The author had a way of writing that made me want to keep on going and the setting of the three sisters running a brewery was definitely interesting and new to me.
The main characters Clara and Sullivan where fun to get to know, Clara is this kind but tough, hardworking woman who is determined to give her son the best life possible, And she is doing a great job at that, I loved how she was as a mother, She was kind, but had her rules and she raised her son well, He definitely didnt seem to miss out on anything, He might not have a father figure hanging around, but his aunts definitely seemed to make up for that,
Sullivans character seemed very troubled, but he also didnt seem to be as bad and tough as he believed he was, I enjoyed getting to know his character and I loved how he was with Clara and their little boy, I didnt understand every decision he made, but I definitely loved how determined he was to make things right with Clara and their boy, The only thing I didnt get was the fact that he was supposedly a Cowboy if you believed the book description, Well. . I dont know a lot about Cowboys, but he seemed to be a baseball player and not cowboy, But what do I know!
Feisty Red was a fun, romantic read that had a fast pace, Sometimes the pace might have even been a little to fast if you ask me, I for one think Clara, forgave Sullivan for disappearing very fast and their relationship seemed to rekindle even faster, But overall this was a very enjoyable read,
Stacey Kennedy hit it out of the park with this second chance Romance!
There's a reason for the term MAMMA BEAR and it's because we moms will do anything to protect our child and that is what Clara did seven years ago when she found out that she was pregnant with Mason after Sullivan left for Boston to pursue his major league baseball career, she kept who Mason's father was a secret from everyone.
Sullivan couldn't get away from his hometown fast enough, living with an abusive father will do that to a person but what he has always regretted was leaving Clara behind without a word.

Stacey Kennedy serves up the second helping of 'Three Chicks Brewery' in Feisty Red,
Anyone who loves a second chance, surprise pregnancy /baby storyline is in for a treat with this latest publication,
There are times when you will laugh, cry and you will also be fully aware that there is always an issue that the hero and heroine have to overcome, Feisty Red is no different!
What you will also experience though is a compelling story that you are unable to put down until the very last page as you journey with Sullivan and Clara on their road to HEA.
I certainly can't wait for Dirty Ginger, the final 'Three Chicks Brewery' novel coming, I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads,
I love the bond between the three sisters at the heart of this series and I love watching them build a seriously cool family business, The men they fall for are pretty great too, Claras story is a little bit darker than Maisies but it is impossible not to love the confident, capable eldest sister and her beautiful son,
I have to admit that this book really wasnt what I was expecting, I love that the author refuses to create drama for Clara and Sullivan, It would have been far too easy to play up miscommunication, secrets and mistrust but instead, Clara and Sullivan work through their problems calmly and quietly like grownups with their childs best interests at heart.
Sullivans childhood nearly destroyed him, Clara understands Sullivans struggles and she encourages him as he faces his demons and begins to work through his issues, The book addresses difficult topics but never feels too heavy,
This second book isnt as playful or as fun as the first but Clara and Sullivan both feel heartbreakingly real, I love the sense of community between the sisters and the people in their small town, There is a glorious sense of place in this series rural Colorado is celebrated in lush descriptions and the sisters experiences, Im already looking forward to Amelias story,
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review
Feisty Red by Stacey Kennedy is a contemporary romance, It's the second book of the Three Chicks Brewery and it's about the oldest sister,
Clara Carter and her sisters had the Three Chicks Brewery, She was the oldest, the brains behind their business, and also the mother of the sixyearold Mason, After the hardworked they had done they found a distributor who was gonna help them put their topselling beer, Foxy Diva, in every bar in North America, The only problem was that Ronnie, the distributor, was Sullivan's Mason's dad uncle, Sullivan and Clara were highschool sweethearts but one day seven years ago he left with not even a goodbye and never looked back, That had hurt her a lot but she became stronger for her son, Now her world was shaken by his arrival, She didn't know what to do with him
but she knew that she had to protect her boy, Sullivan had come back to face his demons and get closure with her, He got more than he had hoped since he found out about his kid and he also got his girl back, After so many years they became a big happy family,
This is such a sweet and emotional book, Just like the previous one it's well written, told by dual pov with great descriptions, The plot is simple and quite easy to follow, The subjects it touches are sensitive and the whole story brings out such an intensity that captivates you, It starts and ends with a bang, The characters are lovely and inspiring, Clara is such a strong, clever, and
caring woman, She is very relatable and easy to connect with, Sullivan was an emotionally damaged person who deep down was a kind southern gentleman, One of my favorite moments was the revelation about Clara and his dad, it was one of the most emotional scenes,
I had a hard time putting down this book so I read it in one sitting, I am very proud about it I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend you to give it a shot, I would suggest reading the first book as well for a better understanding of the bond and the work the girls had done, I will rate it withstars,./
I received a digital arc for an honest review
Feisty Red is the third book in the Three Chicks Brewery by Stacey Kennedy, While each book follows one of the sisters they can be enjoyed as stand alones,
This one follows Clara as she deals with the fathers of her son returning to her small town after being gone foryears, Small problem with that is that he doesn't know he has a son, Sullivan walked out of River Rock to pursue his baseball dreams and escape his abusive father and breaking Clara's heart in the process, He wasn't in a healthy mental state back then as thought Clara better off without him, Since his fathers passing he's return to face his demons and get his head on straight, Learning he has a son brings his future into clarity and what he wants for his life, He will have to work hard to rebuild Clara's trust and make up for lost time, But when his life begins to have a negative impact on the two people he loves the most will he run again or fight for their future,
"He felt tied to her, grounded by their history and the affection between them, "
Feisty Red was a sweet second chance romance with the right amount of steam, You could feel how much Clara and Sullivan cared for each other which made it confusing why neither one of them fought for the relationship they had, It seemed unbelievable that they let their connection just end the way it had, Their son was adorable and there were some really sweet family moments in the book between the three of them, I loved how Sullivan was working on his mental health for himself and the way he took responsibility for his behaviors, However, as a whole I did feel like the pacing was a bit fast between him, Clara and their son, I understand he was only there a month, and he was Masons father but I felt like he should have been more slowly introduced into his son life,
Feisty Red is filled with charming characters and that small town vibe, I'm really enjoying the bond between the Three Chicks Brewery sisters and I'm looking forward to seeing what is going to happen with the final sister after that epilogue! Eh! I gavebecause the heroine moved on and had one night stands as a gasp single mother, so credit to the author for being progressive in that way.
All in all, I just didnt like Sullivan, the hero, He did the usual of leaving the heroine for her own good blah blah blah, I find this trope doesnt work with the secret baby trope, because it means he goes off to become a famous baseball player that dates actresses and singers while she has to financially and emotionally support a child, go thru a pregnancy alone etc It just isnt balanced enough for me.
His sob story didnt allow me to sympathize with him enough to get past that, I also felt the heroine basically gave in almost immediately to him so eh, I dont think authors think enough about these things, They throw tropes together without truly thinking about if a reader can see someone as redeemed if they go that route, All I kept thinking during his sob story was "I bet he was banging a model while she was having a baby" and then I am like eff him!,
