on My Christmas Number One

was a super cute Christmas romance, The ending was a bit much on the cringe side for me, personally, and I would have liked an epilogue a little further down the road, but overall lots of fun! This was just ok for me.
Cara wavered from being a wet dishrag to oddly and uncomfortably assertive about the worst things, And Javi was cringe inducing at the end, The story was good in theory but was not executed well, The song lyrics included were laughably bad,

This book really got me into the festive spirit and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside!

Javi and Cara couldn't be more opposite but the chemistry is between them is incredible Cara is very serious and reserved but a very serious musician where as Javi is very much a free spirit in her eyes.
They are forced together to record a Christmas single and whilst they both just want to get it done and over with, whilst on the press tour to promote it they begin to get closer.
I wasn't sure that I liked Cara as a character initially, but this story is very much one of growth for her and I really warmed to her as she began to come out of her comfort zone with Javi and the promo tour.

I loved the duel cultures but found a lot of the Spanish words that had no translations difficult to follow especially when it came to conversations between the main characters apart from that I did enjoy the story the setting and the characters.

Cara Poignton is a new music artist who has had one top ten hit and she is not a Christmas fan.
She is contractually bound to play on other artist's songs when they require her, This time the artist is Javier Felix Rodriguez Moreno aka Javi Felix,

Javi Felix, a Latino artist, He's, based in Miami and has an ex wife and a daughter, As well as being incredibly talented vocally he's pleasing on the eye, being known for removing his shirt from time to time,

Javi 'meets' Cara through her demo track that will accompany his new single, The two start emailing. They eventually meet in person to start rehearsals for their video and the chemistry builds,

This is an easy going love story, It incorporates two cultures of love and relationships, It is beautifully written and a joy to read,

Will it be a Christmas to remember, Loved this. It was so much more than a romantic Christmas book,
The cover doesn't really do it justice,
So many issues covered in this book that I feel were important and really didn't expect to find in a book that I expected to be a fluffy Christmas read.

This one really stood out for me, With a great story line and wonderfully diverse characters, This is my first read of the festive season and what a great way to set the mood!
Two well drawn characters are brought together to record a single, but their different cultures, opposing views on life and painful pasts get in the way of their growing attraction.
They both decide it can only ever be a professional relationship, but the spirit of Christmas and the nostalgia it inspires is a constant reminder that life and love is for sharing.

The author explores several locations with vivid descriptions which bring the atmosphere and cultural celebrations to life, even if they have previously been unknown to the reader.
These both have an effect on Cara and Javi in a way which deepens our understanding of their issues and competently explains the difficulties they experience in trusting themselves to try a new path in the future.

The characters personal difficulties and limitations are expertly revealed so that the reader can easily sympathise with their situation and has to keep turning the pages to discover how, or if, they can find a way to enjoy the Christmas celebration which they truly deserve.

This book was such a joy, I admit, Irequested this because it's December and I want to read all the Christmas books right now,
So, this book starts off in August when Cara and Havi record a Christmas song together, There's a sizeable chunk that takes place when they first meet and I was kind of disappointed because I thought a lot more of it would take place at that time and just have the book be around the song they wrote and that would be that for the Christmas aspect.
But it ends up that a good majority of the book takes place a lot closer to Christmas when they meet back up to do promotional stuff for the song when

it is released.

I was also disappointed because I thought this was turning out to be a book about some arrogant usedtobe singer who turns this strong, independent woman into a conquest and she totally falls for it and gets her heart broken.
While Cara did fall for Havi mostly against her will, it took a totally different turn than I thought and I loved it.
I loved the SLOW burn, I loved the way Cara stuck to her guns no matter what I was screaming at her to do.
I loved Havi's struggle to grow up and face his fears and his past and his general outlook on women,
Both main characters have big hurdles they are trying to overcome, Cara lost her mother and brother in a car accident on Christmas eveyears ago, in which she ended up losing her foot.
She has severe anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD and doesn't want to be seen as "the pop singer who is missing a foot, " This was dealt with so well and so realistically in my opinion, It didn't overshadow the main plot of the book, but it was always there, It stretched into Cara's dad, who has dealt with losing a wife and son as well as nursing Cara back to health after the accident.
Havi is dealing with realizing he has ayear old daughter who he has not been much of a father to and really struggling with how to be a better father.
His daughter Bea was my favorite character, She was so sassy and blunt and I loved it,
I loved rooting for Cara and Havi, no matter what either of them wanted, I loved going through Cara's journey of finding her Christmas spirit again with her, I loved watching Havi ground himself and realize that he no longer wanted to fall in love with every girl he does a song with, he wants love for the long haul.
Everything just felt so real and it was the perfect Christmas book to kick off the season with! In spite of the title and the cover, this is not just your usual Christmas book, I would say it is only marginally one.

Christmas is not the main theme around which the plot and the characters evolve, This makes it much more interesting IMO,
The main characters deal with real challenges, have emotional baggage as well as psychological and physical ones,
It's a story about overcoming a difficult past through trust and eventually love,
This book is beautifully written and the narrator did a great job, using different voices and accents to impersonate the various characters.
