you feel as if the author, Carl Proujan, truly understands and is mesmerized by ocean life, This is a great read, no matter what your view is on oceanography, You will be delighted. SO I thought I should look at a few of the other books I have outstanding to read as I have been doing my usual trick of picking up the more recent titles in favour of my TBR pile.
What can I say I am easily distracted,
Now this is another of the encyclopaedia of discovery and exploration and this one covers of the secrets of the sea.
This is fascinating book in that it is a mixture of history and scientific discovery charting the discoveries from ancient times all the way up to the earlys when this book was put together.
Now this edition I have read some years ago and I must admit it was much a nostalgia trip as anything else however it is still a fascinating read for someone who knows next to nothing on the subject I am sure there are more modern and informative books out there.

I also like was that there were articles and glossaries and further reading at the end of the book allowing for further reading and encouragement

With a degree in Chemistry and Biology from the City College of New York, Proujan has visited all of the worlds continents save Australia.
