on The Russian's Ballerina

loving this author so much, Fairly new at least to KU, I grab every book as soon as its released and I never put it down until its finished, The characters are always obsessed with each other and the male is a very possessive alpha male who will stop at nothing to keep his woman safe and happyand satisfied
I came across this novella in my recommendations and decided to pick it up.
Even though there were certain elements I really enjoyed like Alecs possessiveness and obsession, there were also elements that I enjoyed less, I didnt like the big time jump after their first intimate scene all of a sudden they are married and the writing felt a bit choppy at times, The plot was interesting and I kept wondering when she was going to find her friend in the basement,.this book had some of the cutest scenes ever, also Alecs pet names for Lyla had me kicking my legs and squealing istg, the scene where lyla did it with alec for the first timeor at least attempted towas so cute since he tried to help her

docked off, because I wanted more arguing, ok hear me out as crazy as it sounds, I feel like Lyla realistically wouldve fought with Alec more about lying to her abt trevor,

love love this book exquisite mwauh This is one of my faves from Ever Lilac, who I'm now calling one of the

queens of villainous OTT stalker romance.
Her books are like crack for me, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I refresh her goodreads page every day waiting for my next hit like the crazed addict that I am.

This is the story of Lyla and Alec, Lyla is a sweet and innocent ballerina, who is determined to find her bestie that went missing, She thinks he's been abducted by the mafia due to his shady dealings as a boxing referee, and her investigations lead her to the doorstep of Alec Dolokhov, Alec is the head of the Russian brotherhood, and a selfproclaimed evil heartless monster, It's attraction at first sight, and Alec very quickly finds himself becoming obsessively possessive over Lyla, Lyla believes Alec can help her find her friend, and after Alec asks her what she will give in exchange, she offers to sell her body to Alec.
All I can say is girl is hardcore when it comes to sticking up for her besties, Alec initially refuses, but quickly comes to regret that decision and decides to pursue Lyla, Only thing is, Alec is a jealous and possessive villain, and he has his secrets hiding in his basement, He now has a vested interest in Lyla never finding her bestie, . .

Alec our villainous "hero":
Alec was one sexy hot Russian hunk, My dude had that raw predator energy going, He was OTT jealous and possessive and once he knew what he wanted, he went for it, I loved that he was an evil and terrible man through and through, The torture scenes in the basement where he would jealously interrogate and whip his victim was just, . .

Make no mistake, the dude is a psychopath, and this is no sugary sweet romance,

Lyla our heroine:
Lyla was sweet and an ok heroine, Some of her decisions definitely made me do a double take, Like offering to sell her body to Alec in order for him to help her find her friend, . . who it turns out she didn't really know that well, How naive and lonely is this girl that she's willing to sell herself to a mobster to find a friend
My reaction was basically the same as Alec when she said she only had platonic feelings for this friend:

But apparently it was true and she just reaaally wanted to find and save this friend.
I suppose an excuse could be made because she secretly wanted to jump Alec's bones, and I can't really blame the girl for trying,
Near the end, I was also giving her some side eye when she called the other man "honey, " She tried to justify it as her mothering him and treating him like a kid, but, . . I dunno if the author is a native English speaker or not, but "honey" tends to have romantic connotations unless you're ayear old waitress at Denny's,

Special mention goes to the scene where the heroine was performing naked ballet for the hero don't ask, it's hot ok, And the heroine gets so horny that she leaps into the air, impaling herself on his dick, losing her virginity, I don't know how neither of them were rolling on the ground screaming in pain and agony from this, but I was impressed,

Safety:
Heroine is a virgin, never been in a relationship,
Hero is NOT a virgin, had a certain type of woman he went for until he met heroine,
No OW drama
OM drama: the heroine doesn't have romantic feelings for the friend, but he's a crazed stalker that wanted her,
HEA with epilogue and pregnancy,
An age gap of aroundyears heroine is, hero is in early's First one by this author, and i loved it!
loved how they meet, loved how J/P he is.

I didn't give the last star only because i didn't like that month off page right after they had been intimate, they even married off page and i hated that, i wish justmore chapter and see more of them, more of them getting to know each others, those weeks were important for the story being on page IMO.

Anyway i will read other books by this author : it was ok, it felt kinda rushed at the end and the way that the charters acted because of that was confusing, :/ Excellent! Mixing ballet with mafia is a winning combination and this was no different, Alec was sweet, protective, insanely jealous and the perfect match for Lyla, She was in danger and didn't know it but good thing that Alec was there and knew something was up, I love how possessive Alec was and how much he wanted her to need him the way he needs her, tropes. .

I have mixed feelings about this one, so I'll leave it unrated, I really liked the plot, but I didn't like any of the sexual parts of the book, I mean, first time they have sex, Lyla is dancing for Alec and girl literally jumps on his dick, Never thought I'd come across that, Then the only other sex scene we get is further on when they're married, and it's a dubcon scene, Or maybe I'll call it DubCon Lite, She's a little wary of him at first in this scene because he's being real intense/insistent and she tries to push him away, but then she's suddenly really into it.
I don't know, but she's happy and not at all traumatized, so I guess it doesn't matter

I like this author and I love how unhinged her Heroes are, but the writing really needs to be cleaned up in most of her books.
This book especially, though, was like a pretty handmade sweater but it had a shitton of loose threads all over the place and maybe the seams are crooked: decent, but it really needs to be fixed up to truly be presentable.
