Receive What Matters Most Compiled By Lisa Marie Davis E-Text
pretty standard M/M read, Not bad but nothing earth shattering either,
This one lacked a real conection for me, Interesting story line that could of done with a little more focus,
Sadly there were also quite a few errors that resulted in being pulled from the story.
More a.read. Having gone most of his life trying to do the right thing with a gift that now becomes second nature to him, Silas Spencer finds it hard to explain his gift to potential lovers.
When he meets a stranger with whom he shares an instant connection with he thinks he has found someone special, but that isnt to be as Josh Dalton only thinks of their time together as a moment of weakness.
When Joshs dead mother pays him a visit and asks him to help make thing right with her son, hes caught between a rock and a hard place.
He had made a commitment long ago to help all the “Displaced Spirit” who asked for help, Josh has avoided him since that fateful night and hes now worried about a broken heart if Josh turns away from him a second time.
Ms. Davis has given us another feel good story of innocent love, Two guys trying to do the right thing while living with all the challenges that life has thrown their way.
Silas has an innocence about him that is heartfelt and all he really wants is to find the one person to share his life with, he ends up alone as none of his acquaintances are willing to accept him and his gift.
Josh is so repressed he actually cant see that he has been given a second chance when he met Silas.
Hes scared and angry and not willing to buck the system until the unexpected stares him right in the face.
Fan of Ms, Davis will like WHAT MATTERS MOST a story about love that is so pure, so rich that it crosses the divide to set things right for love ones.
This story really hits a lot of my buttons, The good buttons, that is, . . and it's gratifying to see both men grow and change, even in this short tale, from careful, frightened individuals to strong, confident people willing to take the risks demanded of both life and love.
My Recommendation: This is an intense read, and definitely worth the time,
Read the rest of my at Dark Diva s: sitelink blogspot. com Not a bad story by any stretch, just nothing that is going to stick with me in terms of being memorable.
Im definitely intrigued by the concept of being able to commune with lost souls and the possibility it exists IRL, so would have enjoyed a longer story that focused on more detail as well as more of a connection between the MCs.
.Silas Spencer had a gift, but potential lovers tended to bolt when he tried to explain that he could see and speak with 'displaced' spirits who needed guidance or help.
He thought he'd found someone special in coworker Josh Dalton, but Josh saw their night together as a moment of weakness he could never allow himself to repeat.
When Josh's deceased mother appears to Silas asking for his help to make things right with her son, Silas can't bring himself to say no, even though it could lead to a badly broken heart.
They went from years of avoiding each other to lovers who tell each other their secrets inhours.
Way too fast moving. Would have been a much better story if it had been longer, Silas was always a strange boy, He saw imaginary friends, or so he thought, When he was a bit older he understood that what he saw were the souls of dead people who had something other to do before leaving, and they asked to Silas for help.
Even if so young Silas knew that it was not normal for him to see souls, and from his parents he didn't have help.
Lucky him his paternal grandfather, an old Irish man, taught him about the "sight" and that their family sometime gives birth to a special man like Silas.
To add strangeness to oddity, Silas soon realized that he was gay, and as he never hid the sight, he didn't hide his being gay.
For his parents it was too much and Silas found himself alone at a very young age, With only a money help by his father he moved in a new city and began the life of a ordinary clerk, and at the same time he continued to help the souls.
Always open in all the aspect of his life, when he became friend, or lover, with another man, Silas didn't hide the spiritual side of his life, and this lead to him being alone, since no one actually believed him.
Silas got the fame to be handsome and sexy, but a bit odd,
When he spends a one night adventures with Josh, and the morning after he discovers that the man is very much in the closet and without any intention to come out, Silas tries to go on with his life, but Josh's mother has other idea.
. . the problem is that Sarah, Josh's mother, is a soul and help her in her last wish means reveal to Josh that he can see the souls of the dead.
The story is an odd mix of hanging atmosphere and lustful sex, Silas is almost double faced, one side the cool and serene man who sees souls and calmly helps them, on the other side the man who picks up a man for a one night stand and makes passionate love these are two side that almost crash, but that in a way melt together to draw up the character.
Josh instead is a problematic man, with a abusive father and a weak mother, a grown man with still the mind of a child sadly he needs an authoritative figure beside him, since alone he would not be able to break free from his father's clutches.
Even if there is sex in this story, it's almost like an ethereal experience, . . again that hanging feeling the overall sensation of the story is of a continuous flow of energy, without the up and down that usually characterize a romance.
In a way, for a story which deals with souls, it's quite a right sensation,
sitelink amazon. com/dp This is another book I reread after over a year so I could write a review for GoodReads.
It is also another book that I knocked a few off of, It wasn't nearly as good as I remember it being after the first read, I still enjoyed it. It had some great romance and hot sex scenes, but notstar worthy,
So, recommended for M/M romance lovers who like a touch of the paranormal in a shorter story.
.
Silas sees 'displaced spirits' and helps them find peace, . but except for Sarah, Josh's mother, we don't see or know anything else about it! I would have liked a little more about his gift, besides Grampa being wonderful, and Mom being horrible.
Josh has a tyrant for a father and had a horrible experience that has left him tied to a life he doesn't want.
My main issue was that after one night together and three years of no contact , it was pretty much instant love.
. and I didn't feel the connection between these two to warrant all the love and trust if they were more than able to ignore each other foryears.
I did like that Josh got his act together on his own, but we didn't get to enjoy it with him, just told that it happened.
I liked this. I did, really. But, I wanted more. Why were Silas and Josh drawn to each other What about spirits How were they drawn to Silas
Then there's the fact that they spent more time apart then together.
I wanted to be there at the end with Joshinside his head,
