kids loved this book! It is colorful and fun! They enjoyed going back to the Map to see where the family was heading to every time we turned the page! And since our family is originally from Kentucky but now live in Ohio, they really loved the ending.
As a parent, I thought it was wonderful because it was not focused on presents but rather on the true meaning of Christmas: Jesus! Synopsis: "'I thank God for Jesus and family galore, For seventeen Christmasesnever a chore.
' Christmas is full of adventure when the family decides to go on a holiday road trip, They start in California and travel to North Carolina and then to Colorado, And that's only the beginning! New sights and ways to celebrate the birth of Jesus abound, All this plus the special visits with family and friends turn the holidays into seventeen wonderful Christmases, "
My : This was a fun book, especially considering we also have family all over the country.
Munchkin enjoyed the different states and discussing how family lives in some of them, It does give the rather outrageous expectation that anyone could take enough time off to drive to that many states to celebrate holidays.
That said it is still fun to give an idea of where states are and how different the holidays are celebrated.
This is a very good book about how a family travels for Christmas, It shows how people have different traditions and ways of celebrating holidays, I wonChristmases from Goodreads, I read it to a friends child, We both loved the book, The premise of havingChristmases was fun as well as a means of teaching, Each state that was visited showed how different Christmas may be celebrated, It is a great book for children to learn while having fun, . . A wonderful book with nice rythm, Lovely illustrations. A Christmas story that kids will really enjoy, I won this book. I wasn't as impressed with this one the family crisscrosses the country back and forth, . This was such a great festive book! This may be a book that has difficulties being read in the classroom because it does speak on the religious side of Christmas.
I loved the illustrations and the meaning behind the book! I won this book free in a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
I look forward to reading it once I receive it, Should be a good book to read during the Christmas season!
I loved this book, . . the rhymes were good amp will be fun to read to/with children, Love the pictures as well, Such fun to explore Christmas celebrated differently in different parts of the country, I'll be keeping this to read with the grandkids each year!! This is an illustrated children's book about Christmas, and the difficulties surroundings an extended family.
The story centers on a family taking the month of December to visit and celebrate Christmas with many relatives indifferent locations in the United States.
The story shows the different climate and celebrations in these cities, The illustrations are rich in primary colors, but the majority of the scenes show nighttime, almost like the whole story is happening as a dream.
The language/vocabulary of the story seems too advanced for younger children, Children and even adults may have trouble with words such as miraculous, possibly, and translations, The rhyme scheme does not flow smoothly, The use of numbers from one to seventeen can be good or bad, depending on the age of the child reading the story.
I liked the concept, but felt that the presentation needed polishing,
Nice enough illustrations and text, but what a strange premise: Christmas in seventeen different places They start in L.
A. and go to North Carolina, then back to Colorado! I mean, their trip planner should be fired, That was honestly all I could think about the whole time, Yeepee! I won this through the first reads link through good reads! Will be great reading for this time of the year.
Will update once I receive it,
I found this a very enjoyable book to read to young children, Very well written. look forward to reading it at our family Christmas gathering, Thanks for the book! A really clever idea that I wish had been done completely differently, A family decides to visitdifferent relatives indifferent states in anticipation of Christmas, In each place, they get a chance to see how the Christmas traditions and celebrations differ, The logistics of the family's trip makes no sense as they zigzag back and forth across the country, the rhyming text hinders the author's ability to really explore what they are seeing and experiencing, and I felt it was all just a little rushed and generalized.
What a great childrens book that shows the joys and happiness of the Christmas season with family and friends, This book did a wonderful job in keeping the real reason for the Christmas season at the forefront of the familys trip all over the United States.
The illustrations are well done and the rhyming is catchy, I like the fact that this book shows how many different Christmases can be celebrated based on location and/or climate in the United States, but that the reason for Christmas is same in celebrating the birth of Jesus.
The true response and rating of this book is when I read it with my four kids ranging from agesthroughand they wanted to read it again right after we had finished it the first time.
This will be a great book that we can pull out every Christmas and read again and again,

It's quick to read and will be enjoyed by all! This came today, I read it to Ben and thought it was great, A family is traveling to see all their family across the country and there are different traditions in each state, Very cute! I won this book through goodreads first reads, It's a cute picture book about a family that goes from state to state visiting relatives during the holidays, It would be a great book for kids who have more than one holiday with different members of their family,
Do you have a big family and each Christmas decide which part you'll go see Well this kiddo has quite the Christmas vacation,Christmases! To family and friends, aunt and uncles, grandparents and great grandparents all over the states this family goes.
Celebrating in different manners with both warm weather and cool as well as out right cold this family experiences it all.
The rhymes and rhythm though out the book carry just like other favorite Christmas books from years past, I could easily see this book being a Christmas favorite pick for many a child and family, It is a definite conversation starter for family, adventure and of course the most important part of all, the Christ Nativity.
I received this as a first
reads book, What was fun was I received it on the day after Thanksgiving, What a fun time to read it, I liked how it showed how different areas and climates might celebrate Christmas, However I felt like it was a little choppy with every page being a different state, It was a good book though and I know that my grandchildren will like to read it with me, Can't wait to share it with them, A professional writer for overyears, Dandi Daley Mackall has written dozens of articles for popular magazines and published aroundbooks for children and adults alike, with sales of overmillion.
